This is a low priority game and with a fairly winnable opponent. Time to rotate bigly:

    Romero
    Dalot Bailly Jones Williams
    Matic
    Pereira Mata
    Greenwood Ighalo James
Games you think you won before the ball is kicked often tend to be ones you lose. Especially when you say "low priority game".

I have no confidence in Jones - I'd actually prefer Mengi. Matic should never be played twice in a week.

    Romero
    Dalot - Bailly - Maguire - Williams
    McTominay - Garner
    Chong - Mata - James
    Ighalo

Subs: Jones - Pogba - Greenwood

This squad should be able to handle things.

Looking forward to watching Derby play, they've got some interesting players that we should be keeping an eye on. It'll be the first time I see Knight and Bird, while I think Bogle is a class fullback.

I wouldn't be wanting to start many who will play against City at the weekend.

    Romero
    Dalot - Tuanzebe - Lindelof - Williams
    Matic - Andreas
    Greenwood - Mata - Lingard
    Ighalo

I'd rest Matic as well, McTominay needs games anyway.

Maguire needs a rest more than anyone. I'm sure he'll have his hands full with city on the weekend.

We play them on the 3rd day. Two days of rest inbetween. All other teams have at least 3 days of rest.
I think Spurs play Wednesday and Saturday.
Leicester have 4 days of rest for some reason.

    Europa League
    FA Cup
    League

I would rather win both FA Cup and Europa League and finish 6th than finish 4th or 5th and win neither trophy
    Nah, disagree.

    League
    Europa
    FA Cup

There's still 10 games left in the league, we're only 3 points off 4th and if City's ban holds up, 5th will get CL football. Kovacic has just been injured for Chelsea, we'd be silly not to prioritise the league. There are so many variables and things that can give you an unlucky cup exit.

I'd rather we were stronger in the league if we happened to have a hiccup in Europe (could just be one silly goal and we're out). Silverware isn't a priority, getting CL football is in order to attract the right kind of players next season. Granted, winning the Europa league would guarantee CL football, but it's too risky to throw everything into it when 1 thing could ruin it.

We really shouldn't be playing Maguire in this game. He has six more appearances than anyone else in the squad and has started our last twelve games. There is really no need to risk him against a side like Derby - alongside Bruno he might be the most important player to keep fit for the rest of the season.

Yeah, just play Jones and Bailly and get on with it.

If we win, thats good, if we loose we will have more rest than Chelsea in the race for top 4.

The tricky thing about dropping Maguire is that in any defensive line-up he's the leader. He's almost ever-present this season and I can see any other pairing (presumably Bailly-Lindelof) playing far worse than the sum of their parts because they've both settled in to being 'Maguire's partner'.

But we still have to do it.

I'd have Bailly over Jones every day of the week.

As soon as Jones comes into the team we look shaky and all over the place, his aura of nervesness transfers across the team.

Lindelof/Bailly managed to have a fairly good partnership before - just depends if he wants to rest Lindelof also.

Tuanzabe and Bailley at the back could be interesting.

    Romero

    Dalot Tuanzabe Bailley Wiliams

    Mctominay Garner

    Greenwood Gomes James

That would be excellent rotation, dont think Tuanzebe is fit enough for 2x 90 mins in such a short time

    What exactly is the issue?
We play Thursday and then PL on Sunday.
City play Wednesday and then PL on Sunday
Leicester play Wednesday and then PL on Monday
Pool play Tuesday and then Saturday

Pretty much everyone except us and Spurs get at least an extra day.

Though this means we got an extra day for FA cup game

What about the game before the FA Cup and the game after the following PL game? I expect it will average out.

Winning the Europa league would be my top choice of the remaining competitions and the FA Cup below finishing 4th.

Sounds like a mostly 2nd string side will be selected against Derby tomorrow night, Derby knocked United out of the league cup in Old Trafford last season and in front of their home supporters they will be well fired up for this game.

So I think while many changes to the starting 11 will be made it's important to have a solid spine to the side and if required impact players on the bench. Be interesting to see how City fare against Sheffield Wednesday tonight as Derby beat them 3-1 recently.

Can't wait to watch Wazza at Old Trafford again. Our hero! Our Legend! May you come back one day and manage our team as well. ALL HAIL WAZZA! 3-1 United. Wazza scores on his return just to make it sweeter just like RVP did!
Thought it was at Pride Park.

    No!!!! They need a rest.

United played 3 at the back against Tranmere, and I can see the same being used against Derby.

    3-4-3

    .................... Romero

Bailly - Maguire - Jones (Tuanzebe?)

    Dalot - McTominay - Williams

    ................. Lingard

    ... Mata - Ighalo - Pereira
    Never fit mate.

Even if we tried to lose, we couldn't. Derby are crap. Got family who are season ticket holders at pride park. Since Lampard left with the loan players, Derby are a sinking ship.
Yeah I just noticed that - I thought Derby were quite good last season under Lampard but it looks like they fell off a cliff this season. We should win comfortably.
