he was one of my heroes until about 4 years back but he turned into an absolute piece of laughing stock. He shouldn't wear the shirt because of what he achieved in the past, he already played too too much because of his reputation which is insane... so let me say this again, I am talking about this state of things not about past...

palyer of his salary should be palying like one of the best in the world as he's one of the best paid palyers in the world but he palys like he's one of the worst in the fecking premier league...

I know ppl can get a little more angry about some players than others but what he produced in the first half is absolutely unaccaptable, just focus on every touch he made today and his shoking movement too and tell me it wasn't disgraceful, he absolutely deserves this criticism because he was just shocking in the first half but I believe that that decentshit in the end could save him some of the slating here again because he's just rooney, once he makes one of his pointless 50 yard crossfield passes or anything nice of note in general ppl suddenly forget what bad happened...

btw I was praising him highly in his last game because that's really good game for him which he unfortunately fail to repeat as he's really not good player anymore
I'm not a Rooney fanboy by any stretch, and am willing to criticize him as well as others on the team when I don't think they are performing to an acceptable level.

My point was that he seems to get more stick than anyone at this point, as people are just waiting for him to make a mistake. Not just in this match but in any match. He's very polarizing as someone else had said in this thread.

Sounds like overall we agree, as you seem to provide praise when do and get frustrated when performance isn't to par.

Only thing I'd disagree with from above is the salary part, as I don't think that matters. But that's a different conversation and not relevant here.

Cheers mate and come on United!

He knew Rooney would fall over it based on tonight's showing so rightly went by himself.

Too many pitch condition excuses. Spoiled Europeans
You do have to win on whatever pitch is put in front of you, but it does impact your play. These players are used to playing and training on nice pitches, makes a difference when you have to now play on something that is not "normal" for yourself. Takes time to adjust how you play a ball through or when you try to take a strike and it bobbles up on you.

Not an excuse just the way it is. YOu have to play on what is put in front of you but it definitely impacts your performance.

If we top the group do we play a team that came 2nd or a CL drop out
    From Wikipedia:

"In the draw for the round of 32, the twelve group winners and the four third-placed teams from the Champions League group stage with the better group records are seeded, and the twelve group runners-up and the other four third-placed teams from the Champions League group stage are unseeded. The seeded teams are drawn against the unseeded teams, with the seeded teams hosting the second leg. Teams from the same group or the same association cannot be drawn against each other."

Out of the 8 CL drop outs, half are seeded on the basis of their performance in their CL group. So only Copenhagen, Spurs, Besiktas and Lyon are seeded top.

If fecking Feyenoord could score we would get it a whole lot easier in the next round.
