I'm going for what can only be described at the moment as an optimistic 1-1 draw as we've yet to draw this season.

We've got Luton soon, if we lose that game & ETH is still UTD manager I will be truly gobsmacked.

Not optimistic about this one at all. Remember how they were clearly the better team in the FA Cup last March before the double red card saved us. And that was when we were allegedly playing well.

Casemiro is injured, so its going to be amrabat and Mctominay in midfield.

Lindeloff and Maguire at the back.

    Yeh, we're not winning again.

The last time a medic came onto the pitch to help Casemiro recover, I saw the latter mouth 'hijo da puta!!!' at the physio. Hope he is a pro through and through.

I know he's only had a couple of U21 games, but I would seriously consider starting Mainoo here.

If he goes with a single pivot again, then almost regardless of the result my love for eth is gone. Its just repeating the same nonsense every week, fiddling at the edges whilst rome burns.

We've drawn 9 games in total under Ten Hag mate, if Fulham score first it's over so we'll have to hope we're the first team to score.

Yes, but the law of averages suggests that we WILL be drawing a match at some point here, so it wouldn't surprise me if this was it.

I agree that it's vital we get the first goal.

I'm actually missing this game, have to take the kids to a birthday party, funny enough the last time this happened we won, so I should probably just arrange parties for them every week if we win again :)

Not confident about this at all, wasn't the defeat v City or Newcastle, it was the manner of the defeats that was a gut punch.

    Onana
    AWB Varane Evans Reguilon
    Amrabat McTominay
    Bruno
    Antony Hojlund Rashford
I'd prefer to have Eriksen instead of McT and Mount instead of Antony

Not sure if us getting battered ruins my entire weekend anymore. Like a lemming, I’ll be hoping we can turn the frown upside down. Will regret my optimism about 25mins in, I’m sure.

The team that SHOULD (but most definitelly will not) start:

    Onana
    Dalot, Varane, Evans, Reguilon
    Mainoo, Amrabat, Eriksen
    Mount, Hojlund, Garnacho

I expect him to pick the usual suspects again.

I think we might do well, I can feel it. The team and ETH are ready.

A solid 10 mins before we capitulate. Possibly a shot on target in the 1st half too.

    2-0 Fulham.

Fulham are a shell of what they were last season. Without Mitrovic, they are about as likely to score as we are. And we are due a win, so we will just barely scrape by with a late goal, probably by a piece of brilliance from Eriksen. This will paper over the cracks... until Copenhagen midweek.

Not that the bell can be unrung, but is Mount really that much of an upgrade, if not an actual downgrade, from Pereira?

Away from home makes the double pivot a must.

Sick of seeing United empty the midfield, only for them to all stand in a straight line on the edge of the box with zero movement and the uncanny knack of being nowhere near the ball at all times. :houllier:

Win the midfield battle first! and worry about getting bodies in the box until the last 10-15 mins if its still 0-0.

But I fear McTom will start in midfield and the battle will be lost before the whistle is even blown.

We don't have a half decent right winger in our squad. Both Anthony and Pellestri are utter gash. I actually would prefer seeing us play the diamond for the rest of the season. Hopefully, starting with this game.

    My XI:

    Onana
    AWB Varane Maguire Reguilon
    Amrabat
    Mainoo Eriksen
    Bruno
    Hojlund Rashford

    Good team
Nope. Need two defensive midfielders I'm afraid. We aren't outscoring anybody right now. Think we need to look to grab a point, and if we nick a win, that's great. SMT and Amrabat it seems. Ericksen or Mount. Rash, Rasmus + one other.

Incredible, we simply haven't enough players to rely upon. Maybe play Mount on the right but we would need Dalot or AWB to get forward. Look at Kyle Walker, Reece James, Trippier. Trippier isn't quick, so this is not about pace.

ETH needs to set his b****y team out. That's his job. Get it done.

I like it. Antony is kind of a waste against fulham. Slap in McTomigod at the 60 for Mainoo if we need a goal.

We don't draw many games under ETH, it either seems to be scrape a one goal win or get battered, but I have a feeling this might finish 1-1, us scoring first (don't ask me how, could be anyone and not in a good way), with them equalising.

    Uhhh guessing 2-0 loss?
    Onana
    Dalot Maguire Evans Reguilon
    Amrabat Mainoo
    Rashford Bruno Garnacho
    Hojlund
Yeah, play Dalot and rashford plus Bruno, of course we will lose! Is lindelof out - if not why are evans and maguire making a very slow duo

    anyway,

    Garnacho Hojland
    Mount
    Mainoo Amrabat Mjebri
    Reguilon Maguire Lindelof Bissaka

if we’re all so afraid it’s time to ditch 4-3-3- this is a 4-4-2 with Mount and casemiro a little higher up. Actually could have used fred here and if DVB wasn’t a missing persons could have used him in midfield as well. Play narrow and quickC

That’s a good shout actually. I think that formation would suit our players and not leave Rasmus so isolated up top. The problem is our full backs would be really important in that formation and are they good enough to provide quality from our wide?

I had no idea AWB was back. If he's back then he should definitely play. Dalot has been a train wreck this season. He needs at least 2 months on the bench.

Records are made to be broken - ETH, 2023
Negative records have been broken by the bucket load these last 10 years, the long time one where we lead at OT at half time then lose at full time will surely go soon as well......that is if we can actually score a goal in the first half and lead! :houllier:

Having just drawn with them 1-1 at the Amex, I can say Fulham are a nightmare to play against. Low block, constant time wasting and feigning injury, breaking up the game by hook or by crook. Rotational fouling is off the charts. At one stage in the second half, they had five players go down “injured” in 18 minutes. They should’ve had a clear red card, and naturally the same player gets the equaliser.

In short, your players will need to be very calm and not get wound up like they have done recently (Hannibal was very lucky to stay on the pitch in midweek, for example). I think you might struggle in this one.
