Fancy a loss here. I think our lads now know the game is up and this could be Huddersfield's last home game in the PL for a long old time. They won't want to lose this one and a win for us doesn't do much anyway.

    Meh.

We're at a stage where even scoring a goal (in open play) is a big ask, for our team.
That said, we are playing Huddersfield and Cardiff. Other than Fulham, these two sides have the worst defences in the league, conceding 74 and 66 goals so far this season respectively. If we can't do it against them, then serious questions need to be asked of our offensive players.

Does it really matter? Unless we beat them by 5 or 6 it will be a worthless
Even we beat them with 10 goal difference, 4 points for Chelsea in their next 2 games would be enough for them to finish at 4. We are done I guess...Long trips on Thursdays and class-B signings in summer waiting

I have noticed that very few teams play against us with 10 men behind the ball. They usually come to OT and attack us, believing that they can win.

I remember in Jose's first 2 seasons, so many teams would pack their defence, with us camped in their half, shot after shot being saved, by a GK who is having his game of the season.
There's no reason to fear us. Plus we have conceded 51 goals this season. More goals conceded than our opponents in our next game.

You take United on, you are more likely to get points than be punished.

We have conceded 51! We are right down there in terms of defenses.

    Shocking..

Its a big part of why we are struggling this season. 51 goals conceded is unacceptable for a club of our stature
And we're only 4 goals off from scoring the same amount as last season, our pitiful GD is all down to our shite defence. I can't believe we had +40 last season, you wouldn't know it looking at us now.

It's incredible how much we capitulated defensively. Only conceded 28 last season!
We are back to the old problem of not scoring enough, enabling us to concede the odd goal with no damage done. There are problems at both ends yet again. We waste chance after chance, the how they can say we don't need a CB is baffling. Better attacking might help, but if they still waste the chances then it makes not a jot of difference. None of the defence trust each other.

I would love to see lots of kids this weekend, but we are still in with a chance of Top 4. Surely Greenwood and Chong cannot be worse than we have been producing lately?

Again whilst true, it shouldn't effect our ability to score goals against the 19th and 18th worst defences out of 20.

We also still have the 5th best attack despite our forwards going off the boil in the last month or so.

Yes, but... In Jose's 17 games, we conceded 29. In Ole's 17 games, we've conceded 22. So the defense has improved somewhat. And under Ole, we've scored 35 goals over Jose's 29.

So Ole is 35-22 while Jose was 29-29. Take out the Cardiff and Huddersfield matches at the end of the first half, and Ole is 27-20 on 15 games to Jose's 29-29 on 17.

Sure we've struggled of late, but who better to get back on track with than these last two? Huddersfield have scored only two goals in the last five matches while giving up seventeen. Cardiff have also only scored two while giving up seven.

The serious questions were asked when we lost 4-0 to Everton a few weeks back and no answers were given.

We also lost to Wolves. Twice.
Questions were asked, no answers given.

In the space of 8 days, we conceded 9 goals and scored 0. Questions asked, no answers given.

We are absolutely capable of losing to Huddersfield and Cardiff.

I do hope that Ole can turn this ship around, because right now, it doesn't look good for him.

22 goals is still a lot. Especially comparing to the fact that we conceded 28 all of last season.

Absolutely. But I think that Ole's overall tactics cut the bleeding with a squad that just can't stop the ball over 90 minutes. It's a talent issue. I really believe he knows what he's doing and where he wants to get this squad, but it will take time.

That said, we should comfortably win the last two by three goals each, minimum.

We have nothing to lose at this point, no point playing it safe when it's done nothing for us for the past 10 games now, go really attacking with team that will able to pass their way up the pitch rather than aimless crosses out wide and hopeful long balls for rashford to try and run after.

    ----------------Romero (it wont happen)
    -------Darmian----Lindelof---Shaw
    Herrera------Mctominay---------Fred
    --------------Mata-----------pogba
    --------------------------Sanchez
    -------------------greenwood.

What we will get is probably the same old usual line up that includes Young, Matic, De Gea and Lingard though.

4th place is now down to 3 points difference. Imagine how many times our boys were slacking a bit and didnt turn those loses to draws and draws to wins.

So many times I felt we should turn this game on our favour but the team couldn't do it which proves we are truly lacking the quality.

So if we win two and an inconsistent Chelsea loses one and draws one (arsenal can draw two) we are in.

    And there’s no point?

Remember that thread: 'would you swap the PSG result for the Arsenal result'? A lot of premature answers in there.

If we'd beaten Arsenal, we'd be in with a 50% chance of top 4, instead of a 10% chance + an embarrassing defeat to Barca.

The 96th minute Chelsea equalizer... I knew it would come back to bite! I was livid when they scored it.

I disagree with your last statement. I can see us not winning either.

We can score from open play. 3 goals more than the opposition? Can't see it. We will concede too.

But we shall see. Still think we won't win at Huddersfield. Cardiff also come to us fighting for their lives.

Why not the de gea fumble against them as recently as one week ago?
Otherwise there's many other examples throughout the season.

Criminal stuff like 0-0 home v palace. Or losing v Brighton.

Loads of injuries that likely would have started:

    Romero
    Lukaku
    Greenwood
