Yikes, blind, carrick, fellaini, and rooney all starting, rome was not built in a day, going to take until next summer to an end to the likes of fellaini and carrick starting in our midfield every week
Carrick is still solid when fit, which obviously fitness could be an issue. Fellaini's is a mere placeholder for maybe a game or two until Pogba is up to match fitness.

Although I'm not going to go judging him on pre-season, I'm not surprised Mkihataryan is being dropped. He seems to have been very reserved and half-arsed so far, hasn't got involved in the games atall.

Perhaps you already submitted your prediction and it's too late now to change it? Check if you a star next to a score.

Well I'll be damned, I seem to have predicted a 2-3 win. Seriously I have no memory of making the prediction at all. Worrying :nervous:
Thanks for the tip, I had looked for the star earlier but since my 2-3 wasn't that popular it was hidden at the bottom.

I should have went with my gut and put Lingard in ahead of Micki, I am disappointed to see Fellaini in ahead of Herrera, that's some LvG shit.

Fellaini has been better than Herrera, so it's not surprising and deserved.

I'm no better at lineups under Jose than I was under LVG. 9/11. Had Herrera for Fellaini and Micki for Lindgard.

You would presume he want us to bully them a bit and then bring the fast one and the quick thinkers on in the 2nd half. Fellaini need minutes as well. They are a threat with their height at the back, so Fellaini could be useful there, we keep saying that don't we?

Was Mkhitaryan that poor in the pre season (could not follow any games outside the one vs. us)? This offensive unit cries for some pace.

I know that some people don't like the idea of Fell and Carr, in midfield.
These 2 players were the ones who played, in our best 45 minutes of preseason against Galatasaray.
They replaced Morgan and Herrera who were absolutely dire.

I assume that Jose is using that performance as a reason to put Carr/Fell in the team.

I'd have preferred to have seen Mkhitarrian in the first team, but Jose knows best.

Gotta respect Fellaini really, after his father like figure coach who brought him there and stuck around for the LVG era, and even put in some of the more impressive performances during that time. The man seems very dedicated to the team and also get along well with the others. I get the crap he gets too but I think ill miss him a lot if he leaves at some pt. Hope he gets to prove the naysayers wrong again this season with some last minute stunners etc.

Then again, there could be no way we went through buying a new signing north of 30m to bench for Lingard, could they
Maybe Jose isnt seeing something he likes and needs Miki to wake up. I dont have a problem with players playing on Merit, thats how it should be. When pogba plays he should play because hes the best option in the managers thoughts , not because he costed 100 million.

Only real disappointment for me is Lingard starting ahead of Mkhitaryan.

As long as Fellaini is part of the squad, he'll get minutes. Despite his shortcomings and wild elbows, he does offer things no one else in the squad does. I think he's fine as a rotational starter from time to time.

9/11 for me and screwed on my subs.

He was good in our first pre-season game (Wigan).
But did nothing of note in the other games.

Being tall is the constant excuse to keep playing the clot, the center of this team is so slow that by the time we reach half time Vardy, Musa and Mahrez might have done us like Kippers.

Mkhitaryn has had more minutes than most and we are lacking in basic fitness still due to the problems in China. The team needs the pace and movement of Lingard or Rashford due to the lack of movement in behind from Martial, Rooney and Zlatan. I think Mkhitaryn will be eased in too if he is a confidence player as suggested. He will have to win a starting place regardless.

We will have to wait and see. It might work for us. If we are well behind then he will have to think again.

Given that Mou has recently said that with Ibra and Rooney he can't play counter attacking football but rather dominating football, it comes a bit of a surprise seeing how he set up his MF with Fellaini-Carrick given it'd be slow and will lack the ability to dominate with the ball(Fellaini in this particular case).

I'll watch closely how we play today and try to pick up what Mou is really after.

I'm also hoping Mkhitaryan picks himself up and get back in the first team fast. can't let himself get benched by Lingard.

Only player I disagree with is Rooney would prefer Mkhi or Herrera in there.

Fellaini is needed to compensate for Blind at CB as Leicester have two excellent headers of the ball in Huth and Morgan for set pieces.
Huth and Morgan are the worry I have. I just hope Fellaini can keep his elbows to himself. Their pace up front is a threat as well.

Fellaini fully deserves his place, he's played well preseason, Herrera has done nothing.

Jesse has played well too and he deserves his place

Fairly happy with the team would still like miki at 10 instead of Rooney but that'll never happen.

He is on the field because he is better than Herrera, the set piece nonsense need to stop, we have a tall team and our striker is a giant.

    Ah, ok, cheers.

Unusual for him to be quiet at that point in the season. He was traditionally amongst the best for us, mostly because he could reach physical top shape very quickly and is in general a very strong player in terms of fitness and stamina.

Bit surprised by the starting line up, though I'm not going to read much into it beyond this game. Jose has said a few times this is still basically just a friendly and about player fitness.
