I'm seriously thinking about not watching this and tracking the result on livescore.

No way? Feck me :( 2/3 of our midfield out in the most important game of the season so far..

Hendo more advanced with Can in for Wijnaldum but replacing Lallana is difficult. You'd need to bring Coutinho in and shift Firmino out wide to play Sturridge or something like that but I don't want to change anything about our front three.
May be nothing in it. It's been said the rumour is Wijnaldum and Lallana won't be fit and one is being replaced by Milner - which must mean Moreno at left back.
But....I stress this is just a rumour doing the rounds.

Lallana has had his hair done specially which could suggest he'll make it for tonight.

Would not be comfortable with the front 6 of Henderson and Genie as their CM...basically all out attack which would cause us trouble and if they score first, game over

I hope it is a donkey like Can and Henderson. Then we may have a chance.

Luke Shaw HAS travelled with the squad

Luke Shaw hasn’t been involved since the 3-1 defeat to Watford last month. Jose Mourinhosaid he was fit and it has been confirmed that he has travelled to Liverpool with the rest of the squad.

I disagree. I think he handles pressing teams well by maintaining composure and winning back the tempo of the game to our favour. Assured legs is what you need alongside an energetic midfield when facing high press teams. Not just erratic pairs of legs running everywhere like headless chickens.

If you had Herrera and Pogba as the box to box players (with Pogba given a role to join the attack when we have the ball), then Carrick can do a great job making sure the opposition doesn't dictate tempo, and maintaining ball retention even when under pressure from the opposition. West Ham last year comes to mind - last ever home game for the opposition, and we looked a completely different team when someone as assured as Carrick was on to steady the ship. Up until then we were batting around like headless chickens.
Carrick has been a great player for us, but for me the Champions League final in Rome, showed not only us how good Barca were, but how Carrick crumbles when a team presses him. We've had numerous occasions since then that it's happened, and at times it can be said that we've been over ran in the middle of the pitch, but he just doesn't play well when pressed. His first touch which is normally so assured, is wayward, he tends to dally on the ball a second or two longer than he should and his general lack of pace is highlighted. He makes a great sub, but that's it right now, certainly not a starter.

What an inane comment. I haven't seen any Liverpool supporter, either here or on the other forum I inhabit (not Rawk !) spouting such shite. Everyone this side of the Pennines (whether in Manchester or Liverpool) is shiting it, nobody really believes it's a foregone conclusion either way ... and history has proven that in matches between United & Liverpool that is oh so true.
What the hell are you talking about? I said media not bloody Internet forums. There is life outside the World Wide Web, you know.

I also have a fair few friends and family members who support Liverpool and they are ALL expecting their side to roast United tonight.

I was even offered a £20 bet this morning from my own jolly confident Liverpool supporting father who has climbed out the woodwork in recent weeks.

High rollers use these sites all the time though. John Higgins is a fecking snooker player and he just rang up bookies using his vip account to place ridiculous size bets.
Isn't it that they minitor for the consistant long odds winners rather than the big wagers on obvious bets?
They would hardly baulk at 10k when they have millions placed already and lay them off at the exchange.
Yeah but they have policies about maximum bet size for normal people. Well, since he apparently owns a multi-million marketing agency in 4 of the most expensive cities in the world (Los Angeles, London, Singapore and Sydney) and employs loads of people at 25, he might actually have a VIP account as you say.

I'm surprised you're not more worried by the fact that post mentions Moreno at LB.
The "No way? Feck me :(" part was about Moreno playing but I can see why that wasn't clear, apologies. We're doomed if he plays, but I hope Klopp is smart enough to know that by now. We need our backline intact for tonight: Clyne, Matip, Lovren and Milner, nothing else.

"We want to stop them scoring and the best way to do this is with 11 men and to score we want to be dominant, have the ball and this is what we are doing. It won't be the same as last season where Liverpool had a lot of shots on target and United had one and the result was 0-1. We still have to improve on many things, but we will continue to keep playing as we are playing. We have a certain style of play and are not going to change that."

Thank feck for this statement from Mourinho. I was sure we were gonna play our own game and Mou would stick with the 4231 with Mata. Now I'm even more confident that's how it'll be.

People are busy getting worried how they'll score against us but forget with have an attacking force to do the same.

I'm not so confident, our team hasn't clicked yet and this is the one time we should go there to shut up shop. This could get very very messy indeed, usually managers will have similar quotes and say something like "we know their qualities but we need to play our own game and be confident, we know their weaknesses and we will try to exploit them".....full time comes and you've lost 4-0 because you wanted to "play your game", don't play your game, play the game that wins.

Terribly unfair to point to Rome for Carrick's form when he had to partner a 34 year old Ryan Giggs in the middle of the pitch. I'm talking about him playing a holding role in controlling the tempo of the game and maintaining composure. He'd have two youthful runners either side of him, its completely different to Rome.

Allthough we've shown a few signs of improvement in this area I still think we struggle when managers park the bus. The special one is the master and I would be 'cock a hoop' if you set up to attack and take the game to us. Personally I doubt that will happen given your away we are slight favourites and despite being successful on toast as your manager is he is prone to defensive pragmatic football

Agreed with whoever said Carrick is poor on the ball under pressure. He doesn't have a great history of games at Anfield either.. but the problem is we don't have many better players than him in that DM role.

This might be the right game for Blind, as we will be on the back foot and that would mean he doesn't have to cover much ground.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Lingard start to be honest.

    Ffs!! Thought he was back
After City, and about a month out, he was never going to start this match, even less likely to feature at all.

He'll play in Europa though, then he needs to stake his claim to play in the first XI

Getting very nervous now .. lots of 'official teams' flying around the interweb and SMS etc. however this is one I don't want to see (guaranteed penalty / goal to Ibra from his opponent being a midget) : Karius, Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho, Firmino, Mane.

I hope that's wrong because Milner has been excellent at LB and Can makes very decent cover for Gini in midfield with Sturridge coming in if Lallana isn't fit to start (though maybe his haircut means he is) !

I'm not crazy about that team. Feels like Moreno would be exposed positionally.

I'd find it very odd he would bring Moreno back for this game in particular. The rest of the team is pretty solid though. Maybe he'll get Mane to really help him out tracking back, i've seen him do that a fair bit for you.

Never understood this 'team rumour thing'.

Why would it ever leek..all the lads want to win..telling anyone the team gives United an advantage. Plus if caught doing so you may loose your job.

Mane generally sticks to the right hand side so I think Coutinho would be the one who has to help out. That's what worries me because neither Moreno or Coutinho offer much defensively.

Please god no, that team literally reduces everything that has been so good about our midfield this season so far, we play that team and we've lost before we've started.

You do fear the worst if we get our team and tactics wrong, but? its going to take time for us to start to become a proper team, but got to hope this team does something. If Jose does not touch the anti football fellani, and of course rooney, have someone anchor the midfield, with pogba and herrera the more central pair, with martial and rashford supporting zlaten, you never know
