I'm not sure Dalot has what it takes - I feel he's quite slow and cumbersome. I like the suggestion that we go with wing backs to try to counter the threat of their full backs, but with Rojo out, it would make more sense drafting AWB into that backline than risk fielding Jones.

Would be very interesting to see Laird and Williams operate as wing backs. But I guess we'll see Pereira drafted into midfield alongside Fred and Matic, with a back four.

Everytime our rivals drop points we manage to drop points too. Don't think it will change tomorrow.

Weird to go into these games expecting nothing. Don't know what else to say really. This has to change... Oh well, at least i would take a lot to be disappointed...

Nah, it's not as bad as the OT league fixture against them under Moyes. That was rock bottom around expectations.

I'd be delighted if we get anything tomorrow, but we've seen stranger results this season.

We're going to get spanked and the Ole rollercoaster will go on. Good result, bad result, good result, shocking result and so on...

Just saw our traveling squad as per MEN. Christ almighty we are shockingly light on players. There's potential for us to get properly embarrassed tomorrow.
Yeah, on the upside I don’t think anyone will hold it against the team as long they give 100%. And that they might take it easy and not focus and we will feel like underdogs.

But yeah, it is proper mid-table team.

The absolute best squad we can put out is this:

    DDG
    AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Williams
    Matic-Fred
    James-Mata-Martial
    Greenwood

And that's without taking fatigue into account, as a lot of those players could do with some rest. We're fecked.

Highly doubt that. We'll park the bus from first minute to last one and that annoys them, beside they don't thrash teams these days. We'll lose but it'll be close affairs. 1-0 loss I reckon, and of course the Ole in posters will take it as a step forward and improvement.

There's still pace upfront In that squad. Fans are going on as if we play tiki taka possession based football, as Klopp as bemoaned all week, we will be playing a counter attacking system. I think the biggest miss is Rashford.

Fred, Matic and Pereria are to some extent the type of players needed against Liverpool, industrial hard workers with enough quality to understand simple instructions. We aren't going to dominate the midfield so I would be more concerned if Maguire / Lindlelof or AWB were unavailable.

Not the time to be expecting a win at Anfield. We had it home and we blew it, but life goes on.

Let's get a draw there, get inside their head as the team that doesn't lose against them. Perhaps it's not the time to expect this either but that's how I'd play it.

We'll go with James on the left, Greenwood on the right and Martial upfront.

I would leave Rashford out of it even if he was available. He has been carrying way too many knocks and deserves a rest more than anyone, it would be too risky to start him.

However, if he was fit Ole would definitely play him. That leads me to believe the injury is a lot more serious than we first thought.

No pressure on us at all. Nobody is expecting even a point and with who we have missing they'd be daft to think otherwise. All pressure is on them. And the results have gone our way today which takes more pressure off us.

Just go there and give it our best with the patched up team we have. We can't ask for more. Give it their all and see how we get on. We surely will park the bus now too. Don't think we can play any other way given we have no midfield and no Rashford.

    Free hit tomorrow.

Definitely a free hit for Ole. If he gets spanked there's not much he can do with that squad. If he wins it then it's a huge shock.

    Other than Pogba and Rashford it's actually still pretty close to our first choice 11 from the options;

    DDG
    AWB
    Lindelof
    Maguire
Williams (he must be ahead of Shaw by now)

    Fred
Matic (McT maybe if he was fit?)

    Pereira
    James
    Greenwood
    Martial

That is the squad of a club that has spent nearly a billion quid in 7 years.

    Bleedin' heck.
But we all acknowledge the massive failings especially 2014-2017 and most of those have been moved on. I get what you're saying but ultimately we all need to move on from those failings, the current squad or management is not responsible for what happened in past. Do we keep totting up those figures even after all are gone? Time to embrace a few era albeit having to force optimism with Woodward at the helm

Yeah so did I, and the starting 11 was really strong with Januzaj impressing, Mata brand new, Rooney and RVP playing too if I remember rightly.

    Got spanked 3-0 but whatever.

The way I see it - this weekend has been a win for us, as we ll only drop one point to Arsenal and Spurs and not lose points to Chelsea. This was the one weekend were I saw the other main Challengers gain an advantage on us, but it didn't turn out that way. With only Wolves winning - we can go into the game tomorrow, knowing we won't be much worse off than we were Before.

That's the problem. Enormous investment and hardly anything to show for it, we're taking a bus full of mostly fringe players and kids to an away game of our biggest rivals because the post-SAF era has been so poorly planned out. Continually buying the wrong players for the wrong reasons.

And yes, I do believe the numbers keep totting up the longer the failed stewardship of Woodward continues, whether they're still here or not as it highlights how poor the strategy has been. Our 3 most recent signings still divide opinion on here so it's not as if the squad planning is on the up.

I know, I agree with most of if, Woodward is a travesty but I think in just 18 months solskjaer has done a great job gutting the damage. From that point of view I just look at the squad as a totally new era. Cautiously

Rashford's injury is a big blow but I don't have much sympathy with Ole at this point. He should have managed Rashford's situation better. Also tue fact that we are not signing anyone is baffling. How is is this club considered a top club if their ambition is like that of Newcastle? It's not good enough.
