Just had a nosy on Rawk and granted, they're as deluded as it gets on there. But they're so up for it and it just made me realise how bloody mopey we are. Yes, things are not great at the moment but that should all go out the window for two games like this. It's United v Liverpool for God's sake! And look at LVG's record against these cnuts! Get the spirits up and believe!!

They're always like that, mate. Ahead of every match it's like:

    Let's smash the bastids!
    Come on you Redmen!
    We'll shag 'em to death!
    ...followed by:

    Shambles. Bloody shambles.
    Sack fuchen everybody.
Klopp's only been here for 30 years - can't wait 'til he gets rid of Houlier's deadwood.

Because he had a crazy 5 minutes? He needs to play this game for squad reasons if nothing else. Hes been excellent recently.
This. We need him to play. On form atm and have been one of our best recently. His first red card ever dont change that fact.

What could be better before a Sunday cup game, than a ferocious and bitter battle against your oldest rivals on the Thursday.

    Perfect!

Imagine Rashford doing another double or even a hattrick against these lot...stuff of dreams. Then in the theatre of dreams at Stretford End doing a Martial.

I have to say, this particular tie has given me a reason to watch the Europa League.

As an outsider looking in, I honestly believe this is the biggest game of both teams seasons to date. I don't mean to sound bold.. but I think this competition is United and Liverpool's only chance of CL football next season unless something very drastic happens to either us or Spurs.

I have no doubt that the fans of the team that ultimately loses will play it off as a nothing competition.. but in reality, this is a huge tie with big stakes in a usually minor competition.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a good game on Thursday and a good tie.

I'm not concerned with the long-term implications at this point. I just want to beat Liverpool.

And it would be just like this team to turn out one of those performances now...

Darmian at left back, not sure that I like that, rather use Blind there or just carry on as usual with Blind in the middle and Rojo at LB.
think Blind might offer a bit more going forward at LB than Rojo would though.

Isn't it 4 wins? Also, I'm pretty sure LVG would count that pre-season friendly win too.

They are due a win at some point you'd think... and this is as perfect game as any to lose by a goal at Anfield.

Someone should tell that fraudster of a manager to stop coaching in the past instead of telling us to stop living in the past.

Saying Liverpool are due a win against us doesn't make sense. That's not really how the odds of winning works.

Agreed. Although using past results as a reason for United winning is also limited in that it potentially ignores the up-to-date context of where both teams are in terms of improvement and returning players from injury.

Home win for the first leg. Coutinho and Sturridge are nicely rested, along with Firmino on form .
We're also missing Lucas who's our best midfield player, and considering midfield is where United are arguably strongest, we're not going to have it easy in the centre of the park.

I wish I was confident enough to predict a win.

I would play a 4-1-4-1/4-3-3 and aim to dominate the middle with pace out wide and upfront. Move Blind to left back for now because he is probably low on confidence.

I think Can has been better than Lucas over the last few games. Lucas has played better at CB than midfield more recently too.

Despite the fact that I have been (rightfully) ripping into Henderson and Milner this season, I think they'll be able to handle these two games, and we have Can who we can see has stepped it up lately.Their midfield is superior, but they are also missing Schweinsteiger who was great against us at OT in the league iirc, plus I don't exactly think the midfield of Morgan S and Carrick is that intimidating, although I fear Herrera and Martial a lot from an attacking sense.
I think the tactics for the home leg should be all out attack. The likes of Smalling are getting back from injury now so we need to take advantage while we can. Sturridge has been out of sorts as he's been eased back, so although I don't expect him to be the difference I think Firmino will show his class in the games, he's not been breathtaking this season but he's done enough to be a crucial player in terms of goals and assists, he may be the difference. Although anything we do attack wise is for nothing if Lovren/Sahko/Skrtel have a brainfart like they are capable of, but recently there has been less nonsense from them in defence. I think we can do it mate :D

If he the manager feels we live in the past, let him feck off. 3 yes ago we walked the league, still the most supported club in the epl, with the highest revenue. The club has given him everything he needed to succeed, supported him to th tilt and here we are telling us we live in the past.
It is his coaching style and abilities that are in the past not us.Signed 2nd rate players for exorbitant fees.He should look himself in the mirror, look at the job he has done vis-a-vis the resources available to him and tell us he hasn't done a poor job.
None of his signings aside Martial have shown any form of quality deserving of a United player or of a player in a team competing for silverware.
An abomination of a coach, the sooner he leaves the club the better it is for us.

We are usually scrappy at Anfield and play badly however i do think that we will lift and win this game 2-0.

    Memphis scoring both the goals.
