From an opposition's perspective it will be interesting to see if we keep our high pressure game without Sturridge and Coutinho in the team. Or bring back the well rested dynamic duo.

Either way you'll score a spivy 50 yard goal off Blind's arse and De Gea will make 45 one one saves so the game will be irrelevant for the large part.
I'm not confident at all about this at all. Klopp is clearly imposing his ideas well on the team.

Need to score, simple as that because If they come away with a win and clean-sheet I reckon we have no chance

Is he? I thought they'd carried on losing as many games poorly as they'd won well. More so probably.

Don't be one of those kneejerkers who only go off immediate results.
Liverpool won, we lost, therefore them great, us sh!t.

    De Gea
    Valera - Smalling - Blind - Rojo
    Morgan - Herrera
    Rashford - Mata - Memphis
    Martial

Need to get Rashford, Valera, Martial etc running at their defence, and in particular Moreno, who is absolute gash.

Will Rashford definitely start this? He's started the last four games in a row hasn't he?

Clyne was deliberately rested with that in mind. Flannagan had a bad game today but should retain that RB slot (he was also subbed and rested). So Clyne will play LB to do nothing but defend (properly, or better than Moreno at least).

Think we can win if we play on counter. Mata will be important in finding the likes of Martial / Memphis / Rashford.

    Lingard is suspended right?

I worry he will start Carrick which will see their midfield just jog past him. Herrera/Morgan is a must in midfield for me.

Wish we had rested Blind today as well for this game in mind. I think TFM should play LB as he can get up and down and help our LW (who will most likely be Memphis).

Why would you switch their positions? Flanagan was excellent as our LB in the 13/14 season and Clyne has never played as a LB afaik.

Sorry you're right, I meant Clyne would come back to the right and Flanno would assume his City game position. Clyne was rested with Depay in mind and Flanno given a bit of a break for Rashford. Can't risk Moreno for this one as that is where all Utd dangers lie.

Klopp played Clyne at LB and Flanagan at RB against City so I'd assume that he prefers Flanagan on the right. He might have Clyne at RB though if Martial plays on that side. I'd rather see Flanagan against Lingard personally as I think Martial could burn him for pace like Sterling did a couple of times against City.

I'm sure Flanagan was right and Clyne left against City?

Mr Handsome John Flanaghan isn't registered for Europa. It'll have to be Clyne and Moreno surely?

Who'll be CB? Lovren and Kolo?

Oh yeah just looked! Yeah Clyne and Moreno will be the ones starting then.

I think it'll be Sakho and Lovren again. They did fairly well today and neither picked up a knock.

    I think we'll line up:

    -----------Mignolet-----------
    Clyne-Lovren-Sakho-Moreno-
    --------------Can--------------
    ---Henderson---Milner--------
    -----Coutinho---Firmino------
    ------------Sturridge----------

I think Liverpool are a marginally better side than us...which it to say we are both quite average. Think the Pool will take us because the one thing they have that we don't is the ability to play with more passion.

The loss against West Brom was more of the same, i.e. we set up too conservatively against a side that was going to be hard to break down. Don't see that happening against Liverpool, think it will be more of the same in how we approach our big matches. Our intensity and concentration tends to be higher and we get the ability to play. That said, this match will be Anfield's most important since the Gerrard slip so they'll be up for it. This idea that they're in form is wrong IMO. They lucked a win vs Palace with a goalkeeper gift and soft penalty at the death. We can get an away goal and not lose, that would be fine. Mata better be in the mood to redeem himself.

    Januzaj is cup tied right?

I'm pretty much back to not caring.

The injuries are going away. The senior members are back. The football is back to being dull.

Have a very bad feeling about this. Would be ecstatic with a goal draw. This competition is our best chance to make the champions league; Van Gaal better not feck it up.

We should sit back and try to hit them on the counter. Their defense is still shit.

Our coward manager will not be able to motivate the players he is lacking passion and desire and that's of course is integrating into the players who were lost and threw the towel too far easy like bunch of pussies like yeaterday.

Drop dramian I don't know even how that clown signed him and the old embarrassing Carrick must be dropped too.

How Man Utd set up will determine this game. We still struggle to break teams down when they sit behind the ball. Attack us, leave space behind and as shown against City (twice this season) we have the ability to score plenty of goals. I'd actually like us to play Sturridge from the bench in this game. We look more mobile with Coutinho, Firmino and Lallama up top.

Can't wait for it and I don't think either team will run away with the tie. I can see a score draw at Anfield and I can't decide who'll win the OT leg

 These type of jammy wins have kept van gaal in his job. Unfortunately, I think Liverpool are due a result against us.

These European first legs are so tricky. What's more important, that we stop Liverpool scoring or that we get an away goal?

Either way, I hope we get a reaction from our players. We tend to do well against the big teams, so I'm hoping we nick a win at Anfield.

An away goal is vital especially if we manage a draw or a win. I think we'll get a 1-1 against Liverpool, which will put us in a good position for the game at home.

If we counter well I can see us scoring an important away goal. Either 1-1 or 2-1 for Liverpool.

We're shit as a whole, but we're garbage away from home. Hopefully we get a result with an away goal, but the performance will probably be yet another shitfest. 5 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats away from home in the league with a goal difference of 18-20 and 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats in Europe so far. It's beyond embarrassing.
