There’s one thing that’s much worse than irrational posts during game, though, and that’s defending them afterwards. I only wish more could hold up their hands like you did and acknowledge the influence of the temporality of mental states (also known as ‘the insanity plea’). (Disclaimer: I’m joking)

I have to stop posting during games too. It's simply not very clever. But without pubs open or friends coming over I feel the need to vent my anger.

Just that a board is obviously not the right place for that as football really brings out the worst in me and afterwards you see threads with all your stupidity.

Admirable that you'd try to own up to it like that. IMO you and a few other people were unfairly lumped into that thread yesterday.

I’m the same way. I shout loudly to myself during games if I watch them alone. If my kids watch, I have to keep it in, or they will be scared shitless. Putting writing that will eternally rebound into the public sphere at such a time ...

Nah mate I wasn't. Wumminator didn't even quote my worst posts. I fully deserve to be mentioned there believe me. But I just wish people wouldn't take things that are written in the matchday thread so seriously . Most of use just use it as means of venting anger or frustration. The first half yesterday was especially frustrating as we simply didn't deserve to be behind. All good though as we slapped them in the second half left and right. And as I've mentioned in another thread. I apologize to those that feel offended by these stupid posts in that thread. That's never my intention.

There's a very fine line between venting in the moment because a person deeply cares and a post made in agenda-driven 'Ole out' sentiment.
