The worst thing about tonight is I can’t see many of our players rising to the occasion, even with what happened at PSG.

We’ve got a mentality problem and that starts with our most talented players eg. Pogba, Martial.

The only players I really trust to play out of their skins are Shaw and McTominay, maybe Lukaku.

Rashford I expect will but his decision making has been appalling at times and could be a big risk tonight.

My main hope is that Matic and Young are nowhere near that team, both absolute liabilities.

Such a shame Herrera is out for this, big loss for us IMO.

I just hope we somehow manage to keep the ball for more than 10 seconds and string together 2-3 passes together.

I remember quite a few games against Barca where we looked very poor technically; and were always defending and barely ventured out of our own half with the occasional long ball to chase down.

Whatever the result I will just enjoy watching two great clubs fight each other in an UCL tie.

Boy we missed it so much.
Totally. This season has satisfied my big CL game itch. Juve and Barca are huge teams and it's great to be playing against these kinds of teams again. Even PSG, not a historically big club but still one of the best teams in Europe.

No more after this though thank you. Porto for the SF and Spurs/Ajax for the final please :D

We have seen some big surprises this season, going away to better teams and beating them on their own pitch. I think tonight is all about damage limitation. Try no to concede any goals and see how we fare away at the Nou Camp. Although, if we get stuffed by a Messi masterclass, I won't be surprised at all. We deserve to be outside the top 4 right now, and the fact that we have got this far in the CL is a pure fluke. If we win tonight, it'll be like a christmas bonus in your wage packet. The summer recruitment program is where my hope lies at the moment. Just hope we don't get embarrassed over the 2 legs and compete.

We've got to play the players that are fully fit surely. The Liverpool and PSG first leg are proof that we can't do it carrying anyone at all.

Against Barca we know we won't have much possession and it's going to be a slog for any player to spring into action when we finally do get the ball.

Freshness is everything tonight. Play McTominay, Fred, Dalot, Jones etc. I'd go with....

    De Gea
    Dalot Jones Lindelof Shaw
    Fred McTominay Pogba
    Lingard Lukaku Martial

    Or

    De Gea
    Jones Smalling Lindelof
    Dalot McTominay Fred Shaw
    Pogba
    Martial Lukaku

Its the same thing that happens in every Barcelona tie. They will dominate posession, they will con the referee and get one of our players sent off, then they will score 2-3 goals. Standard.

So excited for this. Please, please, please step up tonight, reds. C'mon, we've been waiting for a proper home performance against a top side this season. Let it be tonight.

Cannot focus at work. At all.

I'm sure Young will start, whether that's fortunate or unfortunate is another matter. He's suspended for the West Ham game in-between, as is Shaw, so I'd be shocked if both don't play each leg against Barca.

Valverde and Pique both hyping up our set piece threat is a good sign as it shows they haven't watched us much lately.
 I was thinking the same thing.

Then again, they might simply believe we're very unlikely to trouble them from open play - and let's face it, that's not an unreasonable assumption. Politeness prevents them from simply saying "this lot is shite, we'll trounce them" so they've resorted to spouting the usual clichés associated with limited teams.

Our club twitter account flexing it's muscles and tweeting up a relentless storm of optimism. Getting my blood pumping too, I just hope it isn't for a big let-down.

I went for a Barca 3-0 prediction. Tonight will show the level we truly are at and PSG was just a fluke. Boys against men.

Bet we get penalty against us, Smaling pulling Pique during corner kick or like, and/or some other player lifting his arms.. Or just plain and simple Suarez dives in pen area, ref gives it without checking VAR.

Does anyone have any legit information on the squad for tonight yet? As far as I am aware this is what we know so far:

    GK: De Gea, Romero, Grant
DF: Smalling, Lindelof, Jones, Rojo, Young, Shaw, Dalot
    MF: Pogba, McTominay, Fred, Pereira
    FW: Lukaku, Martial, Lingard, Mata

Late Fitness Test: Rashford, Matic, Herrera

If we're lucky enough to have all three of our doubts available, it'll be likely be Grant, Rojo, and Pereira to drop out from the 18.

Sanchez, Bailly, Valencia, and Darmian are out.

Can I put a quick shout out to my match going mate, who so far this season has managed to miss Ronaldo withJuventus (kid being selfish enough to be born that morning), Mbappe with PSG (work up in Scotland), and is very 50-50 about tonight with working down south somewhere!!

Death, taxes, our inability at set-pieces and Smalling pulling a shirt are constants in life.

Terrified. Excited. Worried. Hopeful. All sorts of emotions right now, but this is exactly the sort of tie we've been praying for in recent years. Can't wait to get to OT, ought to be an amazing atmosphere, and who knows, if some of our best players perform at their top level, we could be in for a special night. Come on United!!

Who do we think will start out of Lukaku, Lingard, Rashford and Martial?

    Seems Rashford isn't 100% fit?
Really hoping it's a bit of jiggery pokery from Ole and he's ready and waiting.
As long as Martial and Lingard are fit though, as their pressing will be key, and them going off killed us v PSG at home.

Sometimes in football, something starts brewing. I just hope us v PSG was the start of things rather than the peak!

    De Gea
    Jones Smalling Lindelof
    Dalot McTominay Matic Shaw
    Pogba
    Lukaku Rashford

I would go with the above. Transition between a 442 and the above. I think the key will be blocking up central areas winning the ball back and Lukaku and Rashford exploiting the space behind the full backs that push on a lot in possession similar to the Arsenal FA CUp away game.

Potentially you could play Pogba deeper and put Lingard on Busquets to break off him but I'd be very concerned with Pogba's ability to shield effectively and pass on Messi. Matic will be a problem also, so Herrera is a big miss but we just can't trust Fred to do the basics.

20 players at the hotel (list below - taken from Manchester Evening News). No sign of Matic or Herrera. The chances of a player that isn't on view at training prior to a CL game, then isn't seen getting off the coach at the hotel, playing in the match is very small indeed. I don't recall it ever happening. If it was a late fitness test, then they'd be at the hotel, doing normal pre-match preparation. Could all be an act to fool Barcelona but I can't see why it would bother them who we play in midfield.

Some of the Spanish press have claimed that Herrera is a doubt for next week as well.

At the hotel: De Gea, Romero, Grant; Rojo, Dalot, Jones, Smalling, Young, Shaw, Lindelof; Pogba, Pereira, Fred, Mata, Garner, Lingard, McTominay; Lukaku, Martial, Rashford.

Yeah, we need a frontline of both, plus Rashford. Press but also enough pace to have a go at their defence on the counter.

We will again see United be outclassed on the pitch (not necessarily on the scoreline) in regards to technique, passing, decisionmaking etc. Same as we were against Juventus and PSG at home.

United like to do things the hard way. Keep it tight and hit on the break. The team must be prepared to suffer to win this.

Not sure whether who we play will make much difference. They are in form, have a settled, experienced team and system, and world-class players.

I just they will be too much for us over two-legs.

I hope we perform well... I think we will. But we have limitations throughout our squad.

Yep, getting really boring now. Its like they're trying to cover all bases. If we win it will be "I'm so delighted to be proved wrong"/"We got so lucky, we need to replace our first XI" and if we lose, it will be "told you so, sack Ole, sell Pogba and De Gea"

This is what annoyed me against PSG in the home leg.Sure PSG kept the ball well but there was a complete lack of spirit and faith from our side.We seemed to give up relatively easily.
The whole atmosphere before the game was one of positivity and excitement yet when the game was in motion everything felt flat and utterly underwhelming, including the OT crowd .
