It was a quite ok performance - McTominay impresses me more and more - and even Fred looked a decent player today. But we are not at Barcelonas standard - and because of that, I am fairly satisfied that we matched them. We hardly ever did even in the Ferguson-era.

A comfort is that this Barca-side is finished in 1.5-2 years. Messi, Alba, Vidal, Rakitic, Suarez, Pique, Busquets will all be gone.

Right. What does that say about barca? Who have been dominated from the 20th minute of the first half!
I disagree, since they scored they have been comfortable. They are weak travellers so they were just being clever letting us have the ball whilst we were going nowhere.

Pogba has been nowhere near the other two.II'd even say he was one of our worst players considering his potential.

    Fred and Scott though!
I lost count of how many key passes Pogba made.

If our forward line were on the same page as the midfielders, we would have won tonight.

You know what? We did well. Let down by a lack of composure in the final third.

Be a different game over there but I wouldn't write us off just yet but we really were toothless in front of goal. We didn't make their keeper work and our set pieces were pretty dismal. I don't know if we'll be in this competition next season but if we are, we'll need a lot more than we've got now.

Dalot's chance aside, Rashford wasted pretty much all of our threatening positions today. An otherwise good performance. Well done.

Another European tie marred by a biased Italian refereeing performance against us.

Now, people will say that "the ref wasn't the reason we lost", and to you I say feck you.
I don’t believe he is the reason we lost. We didn’t create enough or take our chances when we had some (no shots on target).

That being said, I do think the ref was poor and not consistent, but cannot blame him for the result.

This is our quality cap, as high as we can seem to go in terms of playing versus a very good team.

It only shows one thing, we need 2-3 players in key positions on the field.

Fred was fine, Scott was fine, Paul was a meh, but not a big meh. CB's had one mistake the whole game.

We surely need a goalscorer, a RM and RB.

And for god's sake Martial and Rashford should be nowhere near the ST spot.

You have no idea what you're talking about, that's about it. The goalkeeper is supposed to cover the goalpost as it's the biggest threatu
Just rewatch the situation and then we can talk again.

No, it's boring, why don't you post another 6 times about how shit Young is just to hammer the message home? Can't even get behind your own players on a night like this, disgrace.
I was bored to death with the Young complaints even before the match started. It's fortunate that I pretty much stayed of the forum during the match.

It’s obvious, why the feck can’t we complain about it?
What's the point? How does it help? Moaning like a bitch over a miss hit cross? We all know he's getting on, we all know he's a converted winger, we all know he's not the best RB in the world but feck me, he's doing a decent job under the circumstances when we need other players to play in other areas. Does he complain? Does he feck, he just gets on with it and been one of the best servants we've had in years. Do you remember that time Young was flirting with PSG for a bigger contract? Nah, me neither.

Not going to praise that performance because a decent Man Utd team would have beaten Barca considering how bad they were. We have very little quality at the back and going forward.
So we're not a very good side and lack quality, but you won't praise them for deserving at least a draw against the tournament favourites?

    Odd logic.

Final third let us down but the likes of Fred, mctominay played well, proud of the lads all things considered and we're still in this. Being a utd fan I'll always back us to win no matter the odds.

You missed nothing, honestly, this place is a disgrace on match day. There was one poster calling for Solskjær to be sacked...

To not muster one shot on target against a poor barca side is a fecking disgrace. Yes we took the ball into their half but did nothing. Ole ought to bollock every one of them and ask whats happened since the PSG game. We desperately need a consistant striker to come in next season at least.

Disappointing in the final 3rd. Players still have very little movement, which is our biggest downfall, anytime Barca pressed us it went back to De Gea or we lost the ball. Comfortable win for them.

Yes because we conceded and De Gea made two decent saves. Football isn't played on running around in midfield.

There's being positive and delusional. We've kept ourselves in it is the best you can say
I'm talking about the game as a whole. We were the better team and looked the most likely to score, but for Rashford having a stinker and Dalot proving largely ineffective in his position, we would have.

On another day we win that game comfortably.

Tactics are only as good as the players putting them into practice. Tonight just showed we do not have the players to take on a team like Barca, even on an off night for them. Lots of effort not so much skill.

Zero shots on target against Barca who weren’t even in third gear. Yeah praise them to the hill.

    Young Mac great MOTM performance

Very poor goal to giveaway but a fantastic effort from the lads especially like in the 2nd half. That extra quality needed we just don’t seem to have which is a big let down.

Not a bad result & we’re still in it.

Good post. He was shit in the first half but there's no need for people to go on about it the way they do.

    Thanks for proving my point.

I also realise that the ref is not the reason we lost, because anyone but an idiot would realise that you need to score goals to not lose a game once you've conceded, but we'd have had a much better chance against ten men if Busquets had been sent off, don't you think? Ref had three obvious chances to book him other than the situation where he actually booked him, one of which was a knee-high sliding tackle and one a handball with his hand over his head without the referee even seeing a foul, whereas Shaw was penalised for having his hand next to his thigh and being struck by the ball from two yards.

Agreed. And that blind right footed cross by Lukaku. There were some Barca esq through balls attempted today...just no alert intelligent strikers reading them.
