Onana was not the problem today, though history will judge United harshly for bringing him in when the keeper position was among the least of our problems last season and is now, not today I’ll grant you, is among the most glaring weaknesses in the squad.

Benny Hill would be proud of this club.
I don't think it was a mistake to target a keeper in the summer.

The first choice back line looked decent with the addition of Martinez, even if Varane wasn't necessarily a long-term option and a better right-back being needed.

The midfield looked a player short, and we signed one (although, being kind, the jury is very much out on him).

We signed a much needed striker (albeit a young, expensive, unproven one).

De Gea was out of contract, in shite form, and wanting to stay on his ridiculous wages, so it was ultimately the right decision to let him go, even if the whole thing was handled terribly.

You could argue that we could have given Henderson a shot, but I don't think he changes much other than us potentially having a couple more points in the CL, and he was apparently a gobshite anyway.

Wrong thread, which is my doing, but our idiocy in the transfer market last summer has a lot to do why fukking Bournemouth destroyed us at Old Trafford.

Let me get Onana out of the way first. He was not the problem today. That we replaced De Gea with Onana is an indictment on the management of United, but that’s a different subject for a different day.

Hojlund. We all love the boy, but he was nowhere near being ready to be our first choice striker. Even if count the one PL goal he was robbed from claiming, he would still only have scored one goal through almost half the season. And he’s just not getting good looks on goal.

Mount. Unless the plan was to sell Bruno, it was lunacy to bring in Mount.

Antony. Last season’s shiny new toy who was not horrible today, but he was a complete nonfactor.

You know where I’m going with this…that we had serious deficiencies throughout the squad that should have been addressed last summer but instead we shitcanned and scapegoated De Gea, who watches our new keeper shit his pants match after match, although in this case Onana was not to blame for any of the three goals he conceded today.

This is just a review of the signings being poor though. In terms of what positions were targeted, he left GK to near the bottom of the priority list, and if it was bumped up at all, it was because our existing GK was on daft wages, playing shit, and wouldn't extend his contract unless he could stay on those daft wages. The only other position below GK in the priority list has been RB.

The biggest indictment of the club isn't that De Gea was replaced this summer, it's that his continually faltering form over the past few years have been deemed the least of our worries every transfer window, and it's taken him being out of contract for us to act.

Literally the only area of the pitch that has been settled since Fergie's last team is LB with Luke Shaw, and even then he's had to have a couple of spells out of team to regain form.

We've not had any proper strikers since Rooney and van Persie got old and left. We've not had any remotely consistently decent wide players since Nani and Valencia. The midfield unit hasn't been settled since Carrick, Fletcher and Scholes. We've not had a decent centre back partnership since Vidic and Ferdinand. We've not had anything resembling a competent, actual right-back since Rafael. And now Fergie's last goalkeeper has gone, 10 years after he retired.

Aware this is the wrong thread so might be worth quoting me in a more relevant thread if you want to continue the discussion.

Only saw snatches of the game as watched it on a terrible stream. Watching the high lights back, Bournemouth could easily have come away with a 5-0 or 6-0 victory and it wouldnt have flattered them.

ETH has to sort out the midfield. Im struggling to see how he doesnt get it. Amrabat can not do it on his own. The support from McT and Bruno is none existent.

we have Bruno McTominay Anthony and Garnacho all wanting to attack and play high up the pitch leaving massive holes behind them.. we are a laughing stock. Any decent team can cut through us with absolute ease.

    Its a funny old game
The standard of coaching is terrible. Manager 100% to blame. UCL winning centre half on the bench while a L B plays CB???. Amrabat didn't have the legs to deal with the fast counter attacking from the cherries. The defence can't even form a line properly. There's no organisation. No communication. Can't do a simple thing like defend a corner??? What do that squad do all week? I'm at the stage now where I'm sick of this cyclical failure. Constantly going round in circles as the club as a whole never seen to learn from the dismal failure we all have to watch. Were charged a premium to watch our club and we most certainly are not getting premium football. Everybody there on Saturday should get their money back. Disgraceful performance.
