Also this will be Herrera's last game right? He deserves a decent send off.

No he doesn’t. He shouldn’t even play.
He's been a good servant for us, always shown commitment, maybe inconsistent at times but I think it speaks volumes that players like Jones, Smalling and Young are given new deals while he is being allowed to walk.

Good servant? How exactly is it ? Sanchez is also a good servant because he gives 100% every time he plays.

    Valencia as well!!
True and he's still the current club captain. Not the same player after he was moved to rightback and still can't cross properly after all these years but a classical winger who gave some good performances over the years but ultimately unable to fulfill the expectations.

He's not being "allowed to walk", he doesn't want to stay.

I don't blame him one bit but let's not pretend that the club somehow made more of an effort to keep Young over him. Would Young have signed a contract extension if PSG had called him? Maybe, maybe not, but then no club wants Young, for obvious reasons so he was probably delighted to keep his well-paying job.

Because he always plays with commitment, he works hard, he does a lot of the dog work in that midfield. Technically probably not the best but still a player who I think may will miss. Gave some great performances in a defensive role especially against Chelsea. Wish him luck in Paris.

Yup. He was quite good during the RVP season , thanks to him for that. Deserves an ovation.

All the reports state that the club refused to meet his wage demands. Nothing about him turning down a united contract. Maybe you've read something I haven't? And from the club's perspective that's fair enough, we probably should be looking to bring in better players, I'm not saying I'm against that decision. Doesn't mean I should be cursing him on his way out either.

No he’s not. He’s been paid to play and the second he’s got a better offer he’s off.

He doesn’t deserve a send off. Don’t see why we’ve got to play a player that’s already committed to another cause in a dead rubber game when we can play a reserve player that’s going to be around next season instead.

Also paying him an appearance fee which he no doubt has in his contract.

He can see old Trafford for the last time sat on the bench or in the stand.

He’s been offered a new contract. Let’s not pretend poor Ander Herrera has been treated badly here. He had options and he made his choice.

Right. Probably in the end not quite good enough to start week in week out for us but always showed commitment and effort which is more than can be said for a few others in the squad.

His wage demands were probably a LOT higher than Young's, though.

And yeah, there's no reason to curse him out: he's been decent for us. But he doesn't deserve some special send-off: if Solskjaer decides to play midfielders who will be here next season, that's fair enough.

Fair enough. I agree with that.

He’s been offered a new contract, he’s just asking for an unreasonable sum.

    feck him.

Leaving on a free transfer is not what I’d call being a good servant.

Chong, Greenwood, Levitt, Garner and Puigmal all trained today.

Puigmal is an interesting one. Midfielder but can play full back. Anyone know much about him?

I agree he has shown great commitment to the club over the years but if he has agreed to join another club he can walk onto the pitch in his suit at the end of the game for his ovation and goodbyes.

What message does that send? Leave and you'll all get a big clap and a send off, stay and we'll boo the feck out of you. Surely it should be the other way round no?

EDIT: Yeah, agree that after the game he can say his goodbyes and what not.

    Is O'Connor injured? absent.

Only 6 youths trained with the first team (Thursday training).
    Puigmal and Levitt -- new!
    Greenwood, Chong, Gomes, Garner.

    ---

:boring: All of 'em are midfielders and forwards.

Tch, Back four will be the likes of Capt Young, Jones, Smalling, Shaw, Rojo, Darmian it is then.... boring.

Oh okay, I see some people wanting the likes of Herrera, Valencia to play as a sort of farewell match... add the likes of Mata as well then since he's also likely to leave. Plus De Gea while we're at it.

    ...seriously?

Turn this into a thankful/farewell match or a trial/exhibition match?

1st option is pointless waste of time and sentimental, they got plenty enough games before this.
2nd option featuring youths is better to see potential future players who may make it into the first team, small part of squad building.

Got to be the least interesting match in years.

    Hopefully we start 3-4 youngsters.

I tend to agree. Nothing wrong with bringing said players on for a few minutes in the second half out of sentimentality, but this is a throw-away game with absolute no expectation. There's quite literally nothing to lose by showing some faith in the kids in a circumstance such as this. I think 2-3 should start the game.

Valencia potentially getting his goodbye moment is perfectly fine. He's been here for 10 years, won a fair few trophies and has been an important factor in the vast majority, if not all of them.

I hope he takes the chance to give a send off to some and lets some of the young players get a PL game
Grant... hes been there as back up why not reward him with a game - plus he cant gash it up any more than DDG has these last few weeks
Valencia... captain... one last game to say bye
Laird... Made the bench a few times - why not give him a game
Rojo... Probably off - give him a last game
Mctominy... Im not sure if he has a future in midfield with us but I hope so and if hes going to potentially be an emergency CB for us why not give him a game there against cardif
Garner... Made the bench enough times lets give him a go
    Herrera... Chance to say bye
Gomes... lets see how he gets on against a warnock team because if hes ready for that then hes going to be ready next season
Mata... Chance to say bye to one of footballs nicest guys
Greenwood... His performances this season have surely earned him a chance
Chong... Again he probably deserves a chance to get a game

Plan to bring on De Gea, Pogba and Sanchez close to full time (for Grant, Herrera and Mata)- potentially to say bye to them all as well as giving a nice ovation to Herrera and Mata

Doubt we will go for it but personally Id love to see us go with that.... all would have something to prove and I think all would be proud to wear the shirt
    .....................Grant...............
    Valencia...Mctominy...Rojo...Laird
    ..............Herrera.....Garner........
    Mata.............Gomes..........Chong
    ....................Greenwood.............

It's incredible that this time every year no one gives a toss about the last fixture. Need some excitement back.
