I have to admit I was a doom-sayer, expecting Chelsea to walk through us yesterday, but I was wrong, in fact I wouldn't even say Chelsea were a better team than us which is probably the first time this season when they simply haven't looked a superior team to their opposition.

I think the lack of Costa helped a lot tbh, I still maintain that he would have ripped Rojo and Smalling a new one, and let's face it Super Dave had to come to the rescue again a couple of times anyway (but so did Coutoir). But then we didn't have our highest performing forwards available either, so we were in the same position (that said Terry and Cahil never looked that bothered).

With city's poor form and with Rooney and Falcao raring to go (and I believe Rooney likes the Manchester derby, so does RvP) I'm even feeling confident about next week.

Really could have gone either way and was probably the most confidence boosting performance this season imo. And to get a Fergi time goal from RvP makes me think we're getting back on track. This season we aren't going to be champions, but I'd be disappointed if we keep this form up if we aren't in Europe next year, hell maybe even a 2nd place finish wouldn't be a ridicules target.

All in all, could have gone either way and a draw was probably a fair result (I like to think Super Dave would have saved the penalty anyway), and one that we shouldn't complain about too much.

Anyone know where I can find the full match with the Sky Sports coverage? I was working at 6 so had to leave the pub with 88 minutes gone and missed RVP's goal. I know I can see it on MOTD 2 but I'd like to watch it back from Sky Sport and listen to the analysis.

Point is a great result both psychologically and points-wise today.

Thought our defending, with the exception of a couple of brain-farts from Smalling and Rojo at times, was organised and dealt with Chelsea's attacking threat very well.

Fellaini has, seemingly been given an actual role by LVG, as opposed to the 'go out there and kick the shit out of every player' task he was given by Moyes. IMO he still shouldn't be a starter when everyones fit, but it's nice to know he can do a decent job when required. Dealt with Fabregas brilliantly today.

Another thing I thought i'd mention is that we are playing 10x better than we did last season. Last year we played different (crappy) styles in different games, it was a shambles. However this season, so far we've played the same in most games: always attacking, always looking to create chances and score.

...It's evident that our style of play is fast improving, whereas last year we looked mediocre at best in every game. There is no doubt in my mind that once a regular XI settles down and LVG starts to complete the rebuilding process, we will be a fantastic team to watch. I.E the difference is, that improvement is obviously happening, whereas with Moyes we were back-pedalling.

We are 1 or 2 players away from competing with the very best teams in the world.

Oh and for the people moaning at Januzaj for being 'useless' Youtube some of Ronaldo's early games, almost identical. He will come good.

Edit: no idea what's happened to the text size above.
Good post. The progress is slow but steady imo. The real improvement will come once a regular starting XI is formed, like you mentioned. And the big step will come once we bring in or find a solid, consistent centre back partnership. And it will happened eventually.

Tell me this idiots Twitter name please.
I don't know as I am not on Twitter, it was all over Sky Sports and Talksport. They probably should have had a penalty, but the number of decisions they get, the easy draws in every competition, you would think one decision could be taken on the chin.

So I watched the match on Sky and thought their coverage was reasonable (despite having the usual scouse crew in the studio) then I heard Alan Green's 5Live 'summary' later in the evening. According to him we were completely out-played, undeserving of any points and Chelsea were robbed. What an utter twat. That cnut never changes does he. King of the ABUs.

I think we should be smelling blood from them. CSKA Moscow and other weaker teams have put goals past them.
They're great attacking wise, but as a team overall they're still unmotivated. I still think they're a bunch of mercenaries.

They are a bunch of mercenaries. But they'll definitely turn up when it comes to the game against us. Those kind of players love the big occasion, it's the lesser teams they can't be arsed with. Would love to see us get something but can't see us winning.
