I agree, but unfortunately we need to sell and if we drop him it slaps 15-30 million off any future price tag. The buying club would have the upper hand.

I really do think he's being sold in which case we have to protect the value.

The past 5 years this man has been worth 125 million for me. But now with the contract running down, and his absolute basket full of errors he's worth circa 60 million now. Take him out of the team and <50 is probably where we're at; especially if he wants to go and forces our hand.
We shouldn't sell imo, I still believe he can return to his excellent form. Just feel that he should have been benched. We can't afford to be sentimental in such important games. Ole talks one thing and does another. He has to be way more decisive and ruthless if he plans to make us compete again. Still believe he is the man to take us forward but he needs to grow some balls and take the obvious hard decisions.

De Gea's confident is clearly shot. Not sure dropping him will fix that. After 5 years of being a one man defence, it is inevitable he would see a period of poor form.
It's not only about rebuilding his confidence, he should be dropped because Romero is a superb alternative who could save points. If player doesn't perform for a few matches he should be dropped and then show he deserves to play.

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
People seem to forget the best manager the league has ever seen had no problem dropping our star players for far less than throwing the ball in the net.

Go out for a family dinner at christmas?

You are fecking dropped, Park and Rafeal in midfield next game.

    Doesnt like your missus?

    Sold.

    Doesnt like your book?

    Sold.

Doesnt like you questioning the clubs less than ambitious transfer policy?

    Dropped.
But, however you want to look at it, all those decisions were made with our club in the forefront of his mind. That's my manager!

I really do hope that these players know that a spot in next years CL and its attendant benefits, is at stake here.

Perhaps so, but you cannot say that we will contain an opposition like that every game by sitting back. Higuain is slow so there is no worries in inviting balls over the top from our high press. So the best expectation for me is to continue how we started. Besides...the error came as a result of the change in approach, which in itself lays blame on the sitting back, not the GK (in hindsight)
You're saying that a very effective defensive performance (bar de Gea's clanger) is bad because we can't use it in every game? And it's a bad tactic because our goalkeeper ended up giving them a goal because we restricted them to 30 yard pot-shots?

Your logic is seriously beyond stupid.

It's like when we played Rooney beyond his sell by date. Being an ex-world class player does nothing good when at the moment he makes the team lose and lose and lose again. Especially when you have the best backup in the league.
Rooney was in rapid decline for years at United. Dave's form has been poor for a couple of months. Astronomical difference between the two.

He would drop plenty for perceived disciplinary issues, yes. What's that got to do with whether he would drop De Gea over this particular form issue?

For everyone saying we'd be okay to sell ddg and stick romero in nets.

This would probably be a regularity under romero as he is quite error prone and it's only shown throughout the course of a few matches.

Bit premature. He's in rotten form, but too early to say categorically that he'll never regain it.

Wolves - fecked up for the second.
City - fecked up for the first.
Everton - fecked up for the second.
Only Wolves. Other two were not mistakes. Just not good reactions for his standards. Many gk would not save those two

Romero was pants in the Swansea game before DDG signed a new deal. Careful what you wish for

Agreed. There’s a reason why, his never really established himself as a number 1, at club level.

We can still win this. if we stay with the same approach we had for most of the first half we will get this.

In PL he fecked only against Arsenal. Maybe against City but that was more not good teaction than mistake
Passed the ball to Fred which led to Wolves scoring.

Second goal against Everton was poor positioning. Not that it mattered as the whole team was rubbish.

First goal against Arsenal from Xhaka’s shot.

To be fair we have been good. We just need to step it up a little more.

    What's wrong with De Gea?
