Some of the Hojlund bashing is a bit weird. He's had one chance and then barely any service at all. He's been completely selfless and laid off simple but progressive balls to EVERYONE else and never gets anything back. Garnacho and McTominay are basically feeding off him but also taking all his chances and spaces.
I felt for him when he won that ball, jinked past the player onto his left and chose not to shoot as it was so far out, passed to Bruno and made a run through thinking he might get it back and Bruno just leathers one with no hope of going in.

    Right plater, wrong role.
He needed to be an option for a season or 2 gaining experience.

Not thrown in as the main guy.
Hence it being a terrible signing. We need goals now not potentially in 2 seasons.

Usually you sign a player like Hojlund when you have a starting, experienced goal scorer. We don't have one. We signed Hojlund for 65mill, we still don't have one....

So in what world was it a good signing ?

Again how the hell did Amrabat get away with the push in the back?

    Literally unbelievable.

Cos that's where we are as a club now, signing potential for the price of proven then spending time to develop the player without challenging for any honours, we're basically a shit Dortmund.

To be fair to Dortmund when they sign potential it's not usually for 65 mill +
Sure, but this conversation was more of a conversation prior to the season. Although I'm not sure an elite striker would have done anything, but paper over the cracks with how bad the others have been. At this point with how bad we've been, I don't see how Hojlund is the wrong transfer. We know we're not going to get 3 trophies. Might as well view every match with a long term tint to it.

Let Hojlund learn from the experience. We have nothing to lose, and it's not worth getting upset over it at this point.

That whole sequence for Chelsea's goal 'started' with Shaw push/lifting a shit ball out wide to Garnacho, where he had no chance to do anything with as his back was towards goal and with Cucurella nipping at his heels.

Shaw always does this. Lazy passes, lazy tackles, shite positioning and awkward passing. I've always been a fan of him and his qualities but the praise he gets is so OTT; I'm not sure some of you guys watch the game properly.

    Amrabat hasn't been that bad.

Just so open on the counter though because of our slow defence.

Antony had a very good half by the way.
He's the first player I've seen in a long time who talked himself up in the press before the match and then actually went on to play really well.

That little nutmeg flick against Cnutface (can't remember exactly which one) was just

    Another half of missed chances.

Wouldn't be surprised if we lose this now, I've seen this show too many times before.

    Please team prove me wrong...

Much much better today. Lots more energy. Good decisions for the most part too. Should be about 3 ahead.
    Exactly.

I worry if this ends up 2-2 it will still be viewed as no style of play, let's get a new manager tomorrow who can play to the (Frankenstein assembly) players' strength, whilst also playing modern football, whilst also securing wins.

We need confidence though, hopefully we build on the first 30 minutes second half and focus at the back.

Lindelof has been just as bad in virtually every game I’ve seen of him in the past 2 months. He also has far less credit in the bank on previous seasons form too
It's been nearly 7 years of the same shite with him.

An enjoyable clash between two mid-table teams. Both teams are going for it. We have gone with the "no midfield" look but are pressing & winning the ball up the pitch brilliantly so far.

If both teams could be finish it would be 7-3, but then these two teams wouldn't be midtable if they could finish.

Let's hope we keep it up in the 2nd half.

It’s telling that people say we’re playing well & Chelsea have had multiple breakaways/overloads.

Thanks Mr Obvious. I’ve never bashed Onana before, on this one occasion I’ve said he should have done better. Which he should have.
you will see it as you like but that was not a gk mistake. only for those who have an agenda against onana

Still think we win this game, but a draw at HT is fair based on the chances being given up.

Honestly so frustrating that we're only 1-1 at half time. It's probably one of the better halves we've had this season. Actually a really enjoyable watch. We had to better with the chances though. I was getting ready to come on here and talk about how we need to score a second before we get punished, but unfortunately it happened already.

If we can match that performance in the second half then we should be able to win.

Bruno’s poor penalty, Hojlund not reacting quick enough to Garnacho’s cut back and ending up stretching… then the bad luck of the lucky double save from Sanchez.

We should have been comfortably ahead by the break.

Harsh blaming him for the goal, it was a lovely finish
It was a tricky shot but a very slow one.
Im sorry but your keeper is supposed to keep you in the game, same way Sanchez kept Chelsea alive this half.

More often than not Onana is burying us alive. Tonight he won a 1v1 only to concede on their second shot on target.

I’m overreacting right now but it’s not the first time when under the slightest pressure our keeper is unable to help the team soak some of it. And that’s been the same scenario this season, we play reasonably well the first 20min, then there’s a bit of pressure from the opponents and we concede a flukey goal, often not helped by the keeper

Sure. Now we're in this situation, of course. We shouldn't be in this situation though and it doesn't make it a good signing for what we needed.

Ok I'll let Onana off. Just a really smart goal.

I don't know what this means, and why you're talking about Pogba in the United vs Chelsea PL 2023 match thread
It means that you had a hard on for him even when it was clear as day that he was unprofessional and was putting in half shifts.

But now you turned into this "maintain the standards at United" guy who keeps the players and the manager responsible.

Just calling you a hypocrite mate, nothing else.

Those rants you had about how Pogba was twice the player Bruno was were hilarious. And the fact that he was somehow held back at United by the wrong formation and personnel around him. And now somehow this doesn't apply to the current manager or players like Onana. Gave me quiet a few good chuckles though

Garnacho does everything Rashford gets absolutely slaughtered for. He’s constantly losing the ball
Not at all. Watch him closely in the second half. He tracks back. He presses. He doesn't just try the one move, looks up and sees what's in front of him, and I can't remembering him throwing his toys out of the pram on the pitch displaying entitled body language.

Lindelof has been pretty poor, didn't do enough for the Palmer goal, completely lost Sterling for their breakaway that Onana saved, he looks vulnerable and it seems that Chelsea are targeting him on the break.

We are well on top but bizarrely lucky not to be behind given how bad our midfield and defence are.
