We need to go back to 4-4-2 diamond.

    RVP-----Rooney

    Januzaj

    Di Maria-----Fellaini

    Carrick

    Shaw-----Blind------McNair-----Valencia
I wouldn't have Januzaj there. He's not too aware of his surrounding to play in the hole. Barely doing a job this season on the wing.

Need some imaginative play on the edge of the box.

Garbage!! Its bloody Palace at home and we set up 'solid' FFS... Get Herrera and Mata on for Januzaj/Fellaini and go back to the diamond.

Difficult game with Palace happy to park the bus and go for it on the counter. They are only committing forwards on set pieces. Seems unlikely we are ever going to get in behind them so someone really needs to create something. Mata and/or Herrera should come on in the 2nd half.

Seriously, that was Moyes-ball right there.
No it wasn't. It was almost the opposite, with our players allergic to crossing the ball and seemingly looking for the perfect through ball.

Its crazy how we went from one extreme to the next. But I think LVG needs to realize that Adnan cannot play on the right flank. He can barely even dribble on that flank let alone beat a man and put in a decent cross.

I love Carrick, but he's turning into our Gerrard without the setpiece skills. He slows the game down too much.
    And Angel, stop taking corners.

Don't think it's a coincidence as soon as Carrick returns we play the most boring half of football this season. We desperately need to switch back to 4-1-2-1-2 and involve Herrera and Mata.

Excellent first half. Possess the ball and create feck all, our typical performance.

Are we really better than last season?
Not really. I mean we're slightly better squadwise having spent £150m on quality players like Di Maria and Herrea but we're just as bad as last season. I could count on one hand how many good games we've played this season. Our results have been even worse than last season but don't worry, there's a obvious improvement, can't you see? I mean can't you see the philosphy already being put in action. Whatever you do, don't question LvG on here though.

Fellaini isn't to blame, he's playing alright, but feck I hate him being out there because he pushes so far up the pitch. Carrick gets left isolated inevitably. We need herrera on, we've looked toothless since he got injured.

Good possession but absolutely no cutting edge. Di Maria and januzaj aren't working as wingers, bring back the diamond and out di Maria in his best position.

What was wrong with 4-3-3? we were picking up momentum and di Maria was outstanding. Feels like a backward step using the 4-2-3-1

I can't remember why I joined this war.
We need to be faster in transition, offer some runs from deep and have someone in midfield who can play a defense splitting pass. It's too predictable if we are this static and too easy to organize the defense if our attacks are this slow. That's no way to break down a defensive opponent like Palace today.

If Palace were any decent they'd be ahead. What we are seeing today is what we saw loads under Moyes last season: opposition coming to Old Trafford, giving us the ball because they don't think we play through them, and countering. Palace have done it two or three times already. We look miserable. This match is a million miles away from Everton (H). The drop off has been staggering.

That was truly awful. We seem to be regressing if anything. Can't say anyone has played well. What's worse is that Palace have been dreadful, if they had been pressing us that whole half, I'm pretty sure we'd be losing by now. Change back to the diamond ffs. If we come out playing the same way I won't be happy. I'm questioning van Gaal now. That was unacceptable imo.

What the feck are we actually doing? This 4-1-4-1 bullshit is absolute bollocks, we are not creating any clear cut chances with this formation.

We miss Blind in CM. He moves the ball so much quicker than Carrick.

Blind gets it and moves it on straight away. Carrick always takes a bit longer.

Januzaj needs to be subbed off. Poor for the third game in a row. Kinda laughable we used to compare him to Sterling.

Rooney and Fellaini are playing the same role.Either both of them are in the box or both of them are near the halfway line to collect the ball from Carrick.Di Maria is suffering from being shifted out wide where he gets easily double teamed.Palace parking the bus doesn't help us either.

Please bring the Diamond back with Herrera-Di Maria-Carrick LVG.

    Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Januzaj and Fellaini off, Mata and Herrera on and let's go to the diamond that for all its defensive faults seems perfect for games at home to Palace.

On an unrelated issue, why is Valencia so deep all the fecking time? Does Van Gaal not want his fullbacks overlapping? Jesus. That's what the diamond was all about, this formation seems to the complete opposite.

I know plenty of people have been saying this week that despite the results we are playing much better now than under Moyes. I was and am not one of those people. And the truth is: that we're really not. We're just playing different football not better football.

The attack looks better on paper than on the pitch. Hopefully Palace get tired and make a mistake as we are not creating much.

For the first time this season not only our defence looks shit but our attack looks shit also. This is new.

Get Fellaini off. Offered exactly nothing and jogs around when CP are counterattacking instead of getting back to defend. Feels like we've been playing with 10 men instead of 11.

73% possession and 8 shots, not bad but we need to create clear cut chances.

Switch back to the 4-3-3 get Herrera on, bring Di Maria back centrally, and possibly bring Mata on and move Rooney up top/.

Terrible half, that. Definite shades of last season there. Midfield is laborious, Rooney isn't a midfielder and the Van Persie/Rooney partnership, or lack of one, remains a massive problem.

You can't play a 433 with a static striker and another striker in midfield.
