Crystal Palace Football Club (nicknamed CPFC, The Glaziers and The Eagles) are a professional football club based in South Norwood, London. Crystal Palace were founded in 1905 at the site of the famous Crystal Palace Exhibition building by the owners of the FA Cup Final stadium, who wanted their own team to play at the historic venue. When Crystal Palace were founded, they turned to one of the biggest clubs in the country at the time, Aston Villa, to seek advice. Villa helped the club in a number of ways, not least by donating their kit. As a result, Palace's colors were originally claret and blue shirts paired with white shorts, socks tending to be claret. They kept to this formula fairly consistently until 1938.

The club initially played their home games at the FA Cup Final stadium which was situated inside the grounds of The Crystal Palace, but the First World War saw them forced to move out, and they enjoyed a number of seasons at both the Herne Hill Velodrome and The Nest. Although Crystal Palace have never won a major trophy, they have played in the First Division for the majority of their existence, finishing 3rd once, and losing the 1990 FA Cup Final to Manchester United. Crystal Palace play their homes games at Selhurst Park, and share sporting rivalries with South London neighbors Milwall, former tenants Charlton, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

I think we’ll see a similar team. Mostly changes upfront.

    Onana
    Dalot - Varane - Maguire - Amrabat
    Casemiro
    Mount - Hannibal
    Bruno - Hojlund - Rashford

They surely won't play this badly again on Saturday, but hopefully we'll bring our A game again.

If we can do the same to them when they’re actually trying, we’ll have turned a corner.

This’ll most likely be nothing like the game tonight.

    Onana
    Lindelof - Varane - Maguire - Dalot
    Casemiro
    Bruno- Amrabat
    Mount - Hojlund - Rashford

I’d just switch Maguire for Lindelof

The game that actually matters. A good opportunity to contrast performances.

Let's see a similar performance. Would love to see the same fluidity in a game that actually matters.

What was the CP team we just played vis a vis strength? First, first & a half, second?

We need to make sure we stop eze and were more than half way there..he waltzed through us once after he came one..

    I predict

    .................... Onana

    Dalot - Varane - Maguire - Reguilon

    ........ Casemiro - Amrabat

    Fernandes - Mount - Rashford

    ............. Højlund (maybe Martial)

    Onana
    Dalot Varane Lindelöf Amrabat
    Casemiro Hannibal
    Bruno Mount Rashford
    Höjlund

Assuming Reguilon is back for this.

    Onana
    Dalot Lindelof Martinez Reguilon
    Mount Casemiro Amrabat
    Bruno Hojlund Rashford

    No need to overuse Varane

I do not know why people are saying this might be a different game than yesterday. 5 of their first-teamers played last night with Guehi coming on at 45' and Hughes and Eze coming on at 60'. The intensity might be different but I can see a comfortable match if we play like yesterday. Yes, Eze will be a threat and I am hoping we can have Amrabat on him. Also, hoping Rashford is less selfish and finds a teammate in the final 3rd.

Yeh and I hope I find a pot of gold on my commute today…seriously though there’s no chance of this unless we play Garnacho. Let’s just hope Rashford scores because if he doesn’t he’s usually poor.

Would expect to win this but you never know with us anymore... please give Garnacho some game time, Erik!

Why would we not bring Lindelof in for Maguire and Reguilon for Hannibal and allow Amrabat to play CM?

    Onana
    Dalot Varane Lindelof Amrabat
    Casemiro
    Bruno Hannibal Mount Rashford
    Hojlund
    ---------
Bayindir; Evans, Maguire; McTominay, Gore, van de Beek; Pellistri, Garnacho, Martial

Really can't see much other than this being the line-up and squad, assuming McTominay is available. Feels like Mainoo, Martinez, and Malacia are close but maybe next week and not this game. No idea on how serious Reg's injury is, but maybe he could come back.

It's always frustrating playing a team twice in a week, in different competitions. Just hope we can win again and keep this run going. We have looked like a team in the last two games and done all the things you would expect - Score goals, not give too many chances away, work hard, keep the ball, stay organized etc. Expect Palace to offer more than they did last night, hope we aren't wishing we could swap the results around

What was the CP team we just played vis a vis strength? First, first & a half, second?
It was chalk and cheese. They rested several players and will be full strength for the weekend. Always a tough team to play against.
5 of their first-teamers played last night with Guehi coming on at 45' and Hughes and Eze coming on at 60'. The players that were rested were Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Hughes and Eze with Edouard being injured and will miss our game. I can only see Eze as a major threat and Andersen being a relatively solid defender over Holding and Richards who played yesterday.

Hughes wouldn't normally play but Jefferson Lerma is injured. We should be winning no doubt but it will always be a tough game.

This will be the starting lineup, you got right all 11 of them and the 4-2-3-1 formation(unless Regulion is not healthy).

I hope we can beat them in similar fashion in a game that actually matters(PL game) and not underestimate them. They're just one place in the table behind us. Should be just cautious, very important game to gain momentum and buy ourselves more time in order for injured players to start coming back.

We're going to really struggle with fullbacks until at least one of Shaw, Malacia and Wan-Bissaka becomes available to play again. And I hope Antony deals with his legal issues successfully and fast because we need a true right winger, now matter how crappy, average he might be. Sancho is a lost cause, probably never plays for the club again.

After seeing the team work as a unit last night, starting Rashford would seem like a backwards step. He should be left out the team until he is willing to work for the team like everyone else.

Interesting to see what the plan is with more people available. We often end up playing a sort of 3-2-5 when we have the ball, so its easy enough to have Bruno, Amrabat, Casemiro and Mount all fit in while in possession.

Out of possession I'm less sure how we fit them all in if we're playing a back 4. This is why having Amrabat at LB actually makes sense, he can come into midfield when we have the ball and fall back there when we defend, Zinchenko style. But of course we have three left backs waiting to return at some point, one of which is a senior first teamer, so it feels unlikely that we'll stick with that for too long.

Alternatively we have Bruno play on the right when we defend but move him inside when we have the ball and use the full back for width. That would solve the problem with our lack of RWs for now, but is that a long term solution? Not sure.

Sulky McSulkface will be back in the team at the weekend so don't expect the same level of energy and enthusiasm as we saw last night.

Plus a lot of people seem to be predicting Bruno on the right wing, and they may well be right, but it's a positional move that has NEVER worked so I don't know why ETH persists with it.

Well, I do know why, he wants to keep Bruno on the pitch. But either play him in his best position or have the balls to take him off, because he's not worth a f**k on the right wing.

You make a good point with Bruno.

To update my prediction: We could possibly see Bruno and Mount both playing like the start of the season, but the midfield being more balanced if Amrabat plays the same role as last night - left back into midfield.

This will actually be an interesting test. Playing them twice.

If United revert back to being hopeless against a more senior Palace side, then last night's performance was more down to the opposition rather than United.

However if United repeat the performance then we can start building some real momentum leading into the City match at the end of October.

    Think we will see:

    Dalot - Varane - Lindelof - Reguilon

    Casemiro - Amrabat

    Mount - Bruno - Rashford

    Hojlund

This would be my preferred option too.

Dare I say it we looked much more of a cohesive unit without Rashford sprinting into a brick wall and blindly taking shots from any angle instead of looking for the pass. Would be harsh to drop Garnacho after that performance.
