Chong is so no ready for PL. He doesn't look ready against even this amateur Astana guys. Poor kid. Best is loan him out next year for his better development.
Amateur Astana side? Take that arrogant and elitist attitude out of here.

Dominated possession as expected but not taken our chances when they have come. Rashford should have at least two tonight.

Regarding the youngsters, you can tell they look very inexperienced. Chong has been the poorest player on the pitch. Looks frightened to take his man on.

76% possession - 5 strikes On goal, 6 strikes Missed goal, SEVEN corners.

The fact that we haven't scored is entirely down to the players, holy hell Rashford.

    Matic our best player, imo.

We could've had 3 goals but what's worrying is they could've had 2 themselves. We can't take this lot for granted.

ironic that it is our one senior attacker that is spurning all the chances. Hate to pile on but i also dont get why chong seems to be further ahead of gomes in pecking order. Watching gomes with the ball is class. Chong couldve used a year on loan i think but guess we are short on wingers and he is the more natural winger...idk. Plus we need to see more of greenwood up top. Rashford just is trying too much at times and needed to have put home one of his chances and this game would look much different. Even his offsides chance he didnt put in back of net when he needed to.

Why do we need a DM in this game, take Matic off, put Lingard or Mata on, Fred at CM with Mata, Gomes, Chong in front and Greenwood and Rashford as STs...

People have to come down. Only the first half gone, let's see how the second half goes. Understandable the kids haven't already light the place on fire but it's good they are out there for now.

I thought we played good football, considering the circumstances. It's frustrating that Rashford missed so many chances but there are good signs and we just need to score in the 2nd half. Astana look very slow in attack so we can see Tuanzebe step up often in attacking areas, which is very promising and shows he is ready to take responsibility.

Also Jones is a disaster waiting to happen as usual. He has been lucky we're playing Astana so far. Their players can barely run for weird reasons.

I agree. Also not sure what type of player he is? Dribbling is very average, no pace. Doesn't seem like he has a stand out trait.
Watching Chong this evening just seems to highlight an immaturity in his game. His decision making is dreadful tonight. But to be honest, we look awful, because this Astana side are League Two quality... if that!

Watch how kids will be blamed for performance, when Rashford had chance or two to actually score. Also not like those playing in PL are killin it either.

The fact that kids got a run around, its a good fun to watch. Get Garner on, put Greenwood as number nine, Chong the worst of those 3 behind Rashford but thats ok.

Astana chances = Jones 100% involved

Astana are so awful... yet they get the first corner. Can't believe there is not more desire from these players

Funnily enough I think we should sit back and let them have the ball more. Need to open up a bit of space for someone to get behind them.

Not defending him but he is not worse than Greenwood. Gomes is just slightly better but he plays it safe so far so he can't feck up something.
Chongy will be good. Wait and see
I agree in this game. Just think Greenwood in general has a bit more about him.

In an ideal world we'd be loaning both out I guess.

Gomes has been lively, if he got a run in the side he could be class. Same holds for Greenwood.

If Rashford had brought his shooting boots it could have been 4-0 by now.

Matic and Rojo looking good, most of the rest look rusty and could do with a bit more hussle in the second half.

What does anyone see in Chong? He’s nowhere close to the quality we require. I can see it in Gomes but we’re just wasting minutes & time with this kid.
Chong was really good the minutes he got against Leicester. And he had several top class showings in the pre-season, so I think that's why he's included here. Today might be his worst showing in the club jersey I think, perhaps its nerves.

Old Trafford is dead. I know it’s a Thursday but Jesus.

Not that the lads have given them anything to shout about, mind.
So, you are surprised that old Trafford is quiet, but you understand it's a Thursday and the game has nothing in it. What is the point of comments like this?

Need to put Lingard on for Chong and play him on the right, shift Rashford to the left and push Mason up top. If we are still goalless after 75 minutes take Greenwood off for Maguire and go plan B.

I always though Chong would be the one of the youngsters to not make it after seeing him in his first pre season with the team. Sounds like he s not doing anything to change that opinion. Appears to be way too cynical.
Hes dallying way to much with the ball. Every time he receives it we lose all momentum because he takes 3 touches to many. Greenwood and Gomes has been much better

Would be tempted to get Garner on for Chong, and move Rashford wide and Greenwood central.

    Struggling to break the lines.

My take, for what it's worth.

The senior players are MUCH better than the junior players.
Chong has been particularly disappointing, maybe he doesn't have the temperament?
Still don't see what the fuss is about Greenwood, I don't see anything there, yet.
Gomes has done a few things, might be a footballer in there somewhere.
Axel has impressed me most, he was awful at the start, couldn't place a pass, but he's grown into the game and looks like a player. Mind you, we haven't seen him defend yet. Plays very advanced.

I can see why Ole doesn't play them in the PL, they wouldn't last very long.

It’s been 45min, can they at least get to play a whole game before you guys call them overrated or not good enough?

Has Chong been written off already?
Hopefully we make more chances in the second half, eventually one will go in.

Dont think Chong has it, at least not yet. Needs to be loaned out ASAP.

    Gomes looks tidy.

Finding it hard to break them down though.

Enjoying seeing the different players they're mostly doing grand but Ole needs to sort the tactics out, crossing against this lot with our lot?!? Wtf is he thinking

Matic has been great i thought. His positioning is invaluable for when we inevitably give the ball away. He's the one sweeping everything up for us.
