lol. He tried his best not to get it though, did you see how he scuffed it into the ground?
Eh, I think he meant it all the way

Bet you had Ronaldo or Messi scored the exact same goal, they'd be applauded for their world class concentration, ability to get it up and over the keeper being a 1 hopper (assessing the situation), and getting the keeper to go the wrong way / putting it across his body :p

yep, he made a split second decision after realising that he had to get the ball to hurdle the grounded keeper and sliding defenders!

Young has these games where he puts in an impressive performance after being out for a while but then has a habit of dropping right off for a long while. Could just be he's hungry to stay in the squad all things considered.

If this is his level from now on I would be tempted to play him more frequently at RB or RW since HM is better in the center. I would likely put him ahead of Darmian at LB also.

Well, yeah ... his split second decision was predicated by, or at the moment he knew Mhiki had been deceived by the defender's deflection from the cross, and that the ball was suddenly coming his way and instinctively knew that failing to volley the ball (in mid flight) at or above its circumference would result in the ball going into row H or beyond! Keeping it down and towards goal was his only concern. Only that way was there any chance to spectacularly crash into the top corner or ... hurdle a couple of sprawling defenders and also get by a goalie who also had expected Mhiki to get a touch before realizing the danger from the incoming Rashford. Pure magic, what more can I say  :smirk:

Just throwing this out there, people have to realize/acknowledge Mikhi just isn't a CL calibre player especially for a top club in the world like United. His track record speaks for itself as harsh as that may seem. Love the guy but stating facts.

Brilliant player who shows flashes here and there at times but I think it's safe to say he's better suited for the league/EPL where his inconsistency can fly a bit more but not in the CL where it's exposed.

Fwiw Mikhi in all Champions League competitions (including qualifiers),

    Games Played: 44
    Minutes Played: 3433
    Goals: 4
    Assists: 0
    Average minutes per game: 78
    Goals per game average: 0.091
    Assists per game average: 0.22

...just not good enough and after today, it'll be 45 games and those numbers will drop more. Kind of self explanatory why José is after Griezmann and wants a higher quality player who'll get on the score sheet more often. Imho Mikhi long term will be best suited as a super sub coming off the bench just as Rashford is atm.
Why mkh fails in big games is because he thinks and plays too direct and tries to beat players in impossible situations in too much high pressure and looses the ball, he has a tendency to run into traffic with the ball, and at high level defenders just don't let that happen.

When you loose the ball in high press attack could be converted into a chance conceeded within seconds.

Have to say Young had yet another excellent game and for me he just pipped Felly as my man of the match. His first half contributions were immense especially when we lost Pogba. Didn't do as much in the 2nd half as he understandably tired but by then the game was in our hands.
Good run for several other too like Smalling & Lindelof as well as Felly to a lesser extent, who have not featured much so far this season. A comfortable enough game that our unforced errors weren't punished - I had called a 3 - 1 game and those little mistakes should have cost us a goal.
Three valuable points, a few learning experiences, a couple of special moments, some confidence building and still plenty to work on for the squad to improve. All in all, a pretty good night not withstanding the potential loss of one major part of the long-term puzzle.

Basel must have gone downhill. I remember them knocking us out of the Champions League, beating Bayern Munich, knocking Spurs out of the Europa League, beating Chelsea home and away in the CL and beating Liverpool. They looked proper wank tonight though.

...And the guy that will pass the ball to Fellaini is in dangerous area is Herrera. Herrera can dribble with the ball, create space, move the ball in tight areas and play the killer pass. Saying Herrera doesn't offer anything against teams that pack the bus is a bunch of echo room bollocks.

If you don't like him, then say it not that bollocks.
Not to the level of Pogba/Miki/Mata. They can do that. Matic can recycle possession. Fellaini offers something different to all of them. That's my point. If Pogba/Mata/Miki cant get through a packed defence I don't hold much faith in Herrera doing so. He isn't as good as them. Any one of those three players can get a ball to Fellaini as well so.

Also, don't jump to conclusions on if I like Herrera or not. I said in my first post where I see his uses. If we are using the phrases "dribble with the ball", "create space", "move the ball in tight areas" and "play the killer pass", then all three of Pogba/Mata/Miki are better.

If we need to score with 10 minutes to go, Mourinho is bringing on Fellaini, not Herrera.
Considering your condescending tone, I thought you would have had it in you to respond at least? Or is that less likely now that Fellaini came on instead of Herrera and scored yesterday? See, we can both be a bit cnutish about it.

Jeez get a life, Herrera was not even with the match day squad. Your opinion that Herrera is an average player is very wrong regardless who was substituted in or not.
