Luton Town Football Club (nicknamed The Hatters) is a professional football club based in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. They was formed on 11 April 1885. Before this there were many clubs in the town, the most prominent of which were Luton Wanderers and Luton Excelsior. A Wanderers player, George Deacon, came up with the idea of a 'Town' club which would include all the best players in Luton. Wanderers secretary Herbert Spratley seized upon Deacon's idea and arranged a secret meeting on 13 January 1885 at the St Matthews school rooms in High Town. The Wanderers committee resolved to rename the club Luton Town – which was not well received by the wider community.

Luton Town's first achievement was perhaps to become the first professional club in the south of England, at a time when professionalism was mainly restricted to the north. Most players had to work on a Saturday morning and were often late for a game, which annoyed the crowd. It also meant shortened games in the dark winter months. On 15 December 1890, a salary of five shillings per week was offered to three players – Frank Whitby, Harry Whitby and Tom Read – to replace their lost earnings for Saturday morning, to ensure they arrived at the game on time. The club was a founder member of the Southern Football League in the 1894–95 season and finished as runners-up in its first two seasons. It then left to help form the United League and came second in that league's inaugural season before joining the Football League for 1897–98.

Luton Town are the first football team to return to the top tier of English football after successive relegations down to the fifth tier of English football. Their supporters maintain a bitter rivalry with Hertfordshire-based Watford. Watford were the higher ranked team at the end of every season from 1997 until 2022. However, overall Luton still hold the superior record in the fixture between the two clubs; out of 120 competitive matches there have been 55 Luton victories and 38 for Watford, with 29 draws. They play their home games at Kenilworth Road.

Luton’s easiest game so far. Will our poorly coached spineless babies be able to get the win?

Anything but a win will be an utter embarrassment. Rashford will surely be back along with Antony, no doubt both stinking the place up.

At this point I don’t really care.

On paper we should be winning this but thought the same about Palace, Galatasaray and Kopenhagen games. We struggled against Forest, Burnley, Brentford, Kopenhagen and Sheffield as well.

Need a win badly, especially before another International break.

Players gonna be physically and mentally spent after tonight.

Can't trust this group of United player to get a result here. Luton off the back of the Liverpool game they should have won will really fancy their chances to pick up all three points.

We are allergic to momentum, so another win to paper the cracks incoming.
2-0, not excited to watch it though.

That could have been a very good night but for a debatable/unlucky red card…. we were playing very well away from home in the CL in a system that suited everyone…

Now we go into a home game against supposedly weak opposition in a game we “should win”.

Cue Erik going back to that god awful 4141 with a country mile between Mount and Bruno, and whichever poor soul draws the short straw and plays CDM…

Seriously, if he messes about with the tactics again and we play poorly as a result, he should be out on his arse.

Thought they demonstrated against Liverpool exactly the qualities that usually cause us trouble in these sorts of games. Defended resiliently and looked a threat on the counter

Not confident going into any game at the minute

With fair reffing, easy three points, but with VAR against us every game, I don't know anymore.

If the players match Luton in effort this should be 3 points comfortably. But United are masters of dropping levels against lesser teams so will be a tough one, again.

If we win, we’re going to make it look like the hardest thing ever just like last week with Fulham, who will probably get routed by Villa this coming weekend just to frustrate you even more

I hope we come out fired up and we don't have refs feck us. We need a strong performance for some confidence. Too much bad luck has plagued us this season to make a questionable system/team look a million times worse than it should be.

I would play the same team as today if possible. If no Evans, then Lindelof in.

They just got a draw against Liverpool. They are not as toothless as we might think.
Just praying we don´t get yet another very questionable decision against us. Getting so tired of that.
Feels like the refs are extremely careful of giving us any 50 50 decision.
Also tired of being tired of that, should be all about the football.

It's a home game, which worries me slightly. Though not as much as if it were an away game.

We saw tonight how best to utilise Hojlund, just watch us go back to the same old dross and the kid looks lost and frustrated again.

Gonna be a hard watch. We will barely scrape through with a 1-0 win, very undeservedly of course, and yet again it will be another "turning point" despite us having the easiest fixture list ever both in the league and cup so far.

Will be an awful game of football this. Luton are no pushover. They're powerful, well organised and direct, long throws etc. Can we cope with that ??

Plucky little Luton coming up to face the great Manchester Utd at Old Trafford, can see the result coming a mile away. Man Utd 0-1 Luton.

Think it'll go the same way as our other "easy" fixtures like Wolves, Forest and Brentford. We'll struggle our way to a narrow win
