The so called city sealing which a few said is higher than ours, we broke it, and took it to a new level today. I said this time and time again, city do not like possession teams, Barca did this to them, arsenal did it, and united was another example of a European style of football which city hate playing against, which VG has drilled into the squad, has come to the for front. I was worried has on derby day anything could happen, what we learnt? is VG's teams do not play with passion, but with their heads and this is the level we need to take into the final few games, and take it to the next level next season, because this was a terrifying performance, in the sheer manner in how we blitzed them. And it so pleased us we showed character, came back from behind and strangled the life out of city

    @Ronetta

You think it would be best for us to park the bus? That would have been true earlier in the season when we were vulnerable to high pressing. Now our passing game has evolved and we thrive in matches where we have more possession. I would say that YOU'D have a better chance of winning this game if YOU sat back and hit us on the counter. This is probably not going to happen so i'm expecting an open game with quite a few goals.

Not having beaten you in a while combined with our respective form and us playing at home, i can't see us losing. Not really buying this form goes out the window thing. You'd be happy to get a draw from this game. I've predicted a 2-1 win for us but i can forsee an epic match with 4-6 goals in it.
I was going to bet on 3,5+ goals but didn't want to jinx it :)

    Brilliant day!

Couldn't agree more. Especially the part about playing with their heads. The way we control games through possession is really Barcelonesque at their best. Obviously we don't have the fire power and speed they had in their heydays but it really is the same characteristics in terms of control. The way we are playing we definitely don't need a traditional tough center back as we don't even have to defend that much which is ridiculous considering we played Liverpool, Spurs and City. That is the most significant part for me, how little defending we actually had to do.

Most impressive aspect was how they came back after going 0-1 down after looking frazzled up to that point. They showed a lot of character. Team belief and unity look real strong.

    Still laughing at Scousers.
We looked outstanding but started slow. The Bitters were all over the place and just a bunch of individuals. Nothing to suggest they will recover and remain in the top four by the end of the season. I think we could make 2nd but 1st is just too far and too late. Carrick's injury is a worry for next week.

Form means very little going into these games, as history has shown us.

I am confident of a City win, not because of my blue tinted specs (though tinted they are), but because City tend to win unless one of two things happen:

    A) the opponents park the bus and we press and press and start to play higher and higher up the pitch and then we get caught out on the break, often with comedy defending on our part. Or,

    B) we are totally outclassed and overrun in midfield and can hardly get hold of the ball. Particularly when Yaya can't be arsed on the day.

I don't see A or B happening. (A), you won't be parking the bus and a fast, open and expansive game plays right into our hands. And (B) because Yaya will most definitely be up for it. A midfleld four of Yaya, Fernandino, Silva and Nasri (or Navas) will be enough to keep you lot busy. And we may very well play 5 in the middle anyway with Silva as the attacking mid behind Aguero. Either way, you aren't going to keep us off the ball for most of the game, which you would need to do.

Therefore I predict a City win. City usually win if A or B doesn't happen.
    Thank god I bookmarked this.

We just strangled the life out of city, which I thought could happen if this midfield keeps up the intensity. I thought if city played a different system we could have problems with the space for our midfield if Yaya Toure could get more of the ball, but the technicality in our play is great to watch, VG has actually made us better technically with this squad. I think we have the cutting edge, herrera mata fellaini and rooney all can score us goals, its the manner in the way we are passing the ball is making the chances. VG always says, the players do the talking, and the ball will take care of itself. This model VG is using, we could blitz our rivals next season, because the style of play we use is so hard to play against, when it gets going. Remember fergie said about barca, when we get on the carousel, its hard to get off, and that is what happened to city today

I am so confident we will do them I've bet £150 on a -2 Asian Andicap and £250 on -1.75. Bring on the 4-0!
Well I still won but would have been much sweeter if we didn't concede those two stupid goals!

If they play anything like they did today they'll be no problem … but something tells me it will be a different Chelski, like it was a different Citeh today! We just bring out the best in opponents unfortunately!
Chelsea lacks motivation right now, leading the table and scraping the win.we certainly not going to loose that one, a win for us or 1-1 is what I'm expecting from the game.

I cannot work out if we neutralized city after their goal or they just stopped playing.

I thought we were excellent and City were fairly off par compared to what we're used to in a derby.

well, players get injured, that's the game. Carrick ain't young anymore and it will happen more often now. Sure a loss, but have the feeling LVG knows what he is doing now with the players he has got to know. Bring on Chelsea, with or without Carrick. No fears.
Yeah it's not just replacing Carrick that's the problem though. By moving Blind back in to midfield you also break up that left wing trio that has been absolutely outstanding over the past 6 games.

The way we have played I really don't want to move anyone around. I'd be doing all I could to get Carrick fit for next weekend.

Precaution I feel. He didn't go straight down the tunnel
