How anyone can watch that and think we are making progress is beyond me.
Leave it to Bruno or Rashford to create a bit of magic, has been the formula for a long time, or hope Pogba puts on a show. McT & Cavani are a big miss, but selecting James and Martial over Greenwoood is problem that Ole needs to get his head around. James needs space to run into and Martial just doesn't look motivated, maybe we need to take his precious number off him?
Need to slightly change the midfield in the second half and probably start playing longer balls, as they're just pressing the shite out of us in our half.

Guarantee there’ll be calls for James to come off for Amad

Yet Ole has been criticised for playing James in a game where there’s no space for James to run in to. Yet what is Amad going to do if he comes on......try to run into space that isn’t there and he’ll get praise for it because he is the CAF’s new love child.

For what it’s worth I think James has been one of our best players in the first half, playing positive and wanting to go forward yet there’s no attackers in the box for him to cross the ball to
I've always suspected it but now I'm sure that you are on one big WUM

I'm not blaming Maguire for that goal. There was nobody marking saint maximin in our box. Ridiculous defending. Martial....the man is shot to bits FFS.

Awful half. Typical of a game after a European midweek but worse than usual.

Fred used all his skill points on Thursday it seems, Martial playing on his heels yet again and the defence carry on their terrible form.

Hope someone lights a fire under their arses half time. Nicky Butt’s face said it all.
Midweek football shouldn’t be an excuse. Ole should not have played such a strong squad for a pointless Europa League game. I said it will cost us top four. I’d rather get dumped out of the second rate European cup and focus on the league position.

As piss poor as our defending always is, we've created nothing against one of the worst defensive teams in the league. It all stems from this dreadful midfield which can't get the ball forward with any urgency whatsoever. I know we don't have many choices right now but I'd honestly pull Fred for Mata, we don't need two holding midfielders at all.
That has to be the move, though we don't look secure in there even with 2 defensively minded starters.

Ole needs to finally show some tactical nous and set out a plan on how to break down a stubborn defence. He needs to also be ruthless and make his substitutions early.

It is inexcusable to be so one dimensional.

I’m beyond caring at this stage. Tried to be positive even during the poor form but we have shown no underlying signs or a willingness to rectify recurring issues. We know what the ultimate problem is.

That is what Martial plays like now. A player at the end of their career.

Scholesy echoing my thoughts on where Maguire should be heading that ball...

Not totally on him or anything, as with most of our set play goals we concede, it's very much a team effort

Can't work out if you're agreeing with me or not. So you accept he did his job? Unlike the rest of the team nowhere to be seen on the first or second ball.d
He is shit. And he and only he is to blame for this goal. It was something what you don't do in U14. That ball you head in corner, not behind you.

He actually started well but the preoccupation in building attacks on the left is making us predictable. At times both martial and Rashford are occupying the same space leaving nothing in the middle
But that's because they know James/AWB can't do anything.

I agree. Never makes any runs. Drops deep now and then, makes dribbling occasionally that goes nowhere and that's it.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. There was a moment in the first half when Dan James got the ball into the box from the right hand side. It was a decent low cross, but Martial was nowhere near it. He wasn't working anywhere near as hard as he should have been to get on the end of it. Any half decent striker would've been working so hard just to get close to it...

He doesn't have that killer instinct to make it as a top-tier striker. I've gone right off him this season.

Anyone got that stat of how many set piece goals weve conceded? It has to be close to 40% of all our concede goals maybe even higher

Can’t blame him at all, his job is to win the first header and try to get it as safe as possible. If he’s at full stretch that will be a struggle, it’s his teammates job to win the second ball
Yeah that’s the way I saw it. Heard Scholes say he should head it out for a corner but to me that’s just the benefit of hindsight - if you knew it would lead to a goal then of course anywhere would do.

Ole the man is too safe. Home against Newcastle start with 2 dcm.
Ole is stuck with Bruno as nr.8. Can be a negative thing. Special United cm is screaming after a Paul Schole nr.8 behind nr.10.

He doesn’t see any Bruno solution than nr.10. It weakened the potential of the squad and starting line up.

    Should start with those available

    Diallo/James - Bruno =nr.8 - Fred nr.6 - Martial

    Greenwood - Rashford

Don’t get stuck to anything. Ole and United are limited themselves. Remind me of the poor end of last season.

Struggling against Sheff U,West Brom and Newcastle.

Clearly and so obviously where United problem is.

Drop Bruno as nr.8 and play with 2 CF. Because right now Bruno playing as nr.10 , but is dropping to deep. A CAM free role main job is to support attacking players with assist passes.

Without United most creative cm Pogba. United is clearly struggling to create clear cut chances.

IF the Bruno change is not coming. Bruno will struggle too. In premier league.

A big minus for Ole and his staff for not seeing this solution.

Got stuck and too safe. To top guts to gamble. And go for safe solutions. It will limited your team. Free yourself.

matic was the weak link. dont get the de gea critic, he had some good saves and you cant really make him the culprit for the goal.

Yeah it's a tough one because he's trying to do the right thing by getting it out of the danger area but he's just put it into an even worse one... take it the other way and no one is complaining.

    Amazing individual goal by Rashford.

Although Maguire looks bad in that situation, I don't think he is really to blame..

Just compare how Chelsea completely controlled the game against Newcastle to how we play against them in the first half. We have zero structure in our game..

Amad is a far superior dribbler and passer. Whether he can show that we don't know but running into space not all there is for a winger.
This. How people can defend that type of performance is surprising. We should expect more from this team.

    "finally"

I mean he's not purposefully hiding his nous, is he?

Why mention Maguire then? There were 4 United players stood in the box not doing anything!
