Forget the Pedro nonses. I'm excited to see us play again can't wait. I'm going for a solid 2-0 win.

For some reason, I see us conceding - Wijnaldum maybe? But our team should be strong enough to get us through. I'm going 2-1 but overall a pretty comfortable game.

They were well in the game against Southampton (and leading for decent periods) for a good 70-80 minutes.. But after Southampton equalised they were hanging on and looked very fatigued.

Aganst Swansea, they were second best all game and never really recovered from conceding the early goal. Janmaat getting sent off late in the first half basically ruled out their chances, so can't really judge them much on the remainder of that game.

They've seemed to struggle and gotten noticeably tired against sides that typically dominate possession and pass the ball well, which is good news for us. Unlucky first three games for Newcastle if that's the kind of football they struggle against most (albeit from a small sample size). They'll probably do well to average 40% possession over those two opening games and this coming Saturday.

They do look dangerous on the break, though. I can see a similar game to the one against Brugge.

People are now including Pedro in their line-ups?
    Interesting.

Anyway, now that Memphis seems to have found his mojo, I think we can score 2 goals.
I think Newcastle will score 0 or 1 goals.
    Prediction: 2-0 or 2-1.

Second best all over v Swansea.
Cheers. Problem is we keep giving the ball away in dangerous areas. Newcastle have more players than Brugge and Villa that can exploit those mistakes. Hope Sissoko doesn't recover in time for the game.

I expect Schweinsteiger to start this one. That's a couple of games now where Carrick's looked off the pace and Basti's come in and impressed.

And Januzaj will keep starting at Young's expense. He was the one making things happen in the first half against Brugge, easily beat his man again and again early on.

The squad hasn't convinced me yet, but a third win on the bounce would be a great start to the season. I think we still lack a bit up front, but if we can continue to defend well and get control of the midfield as we have, then we should do well enough this season. Don't think we have enough to win the title sadly...

People will be saying this til April I reckon, even if we are leading the table. 'We are in a great position but I think City/Chelsea will nick it'

yup. bastian in for carrick. maybe a start for herrera as well (but we all know it is not going to happen anytime soon)

actually for this game i would like to see valencia down the right hand side. nothing against mata but just something for a change, i would like to see how valencia work with darmian. just got a bit of a feeling we have been a bit disappointing down the right hand side and offers little going forward.

Herrera starting in place of Schneiderlin would make sense in that Schneiderlin has been running a ton and playing 90 minutes and we've got an away CL game he must play in 4 days later (2-0 and we're out, so can't afford not to have our best disruptor in midfield breaking things up and creating counters when they try to play through us) and then away at Swansea 4 days after that.

This game, we need to just outplay a crap side.

    ------------Rooney--------
    Memphis--Januzaj--------
    --------------------Mata
    ------Herrera-Carrick-----
    Shaw--Blind-Smalling--Darmian
    -----------Romero----------

    would be my guess.

Keep it the same but Schweini in for Carrick. Been improving in each match with a largely unchanged side. Januzaj will continue to be inconsistent but hadn't done anything to lose his place imo. Would drop him for Herrera though, if anyone. Now's not the time to drop Rooney. He showed a few flashes that it's been rust behind his slow start and Newcastle at home is as good as any place to hope he kicks into gear.

Another early start, I hate these. Always feels like we've played poorer

Rooney always score against Newcastle, doesn't he? At least more often than not, including that thunderbastard.

Newcastle have signed Florain Thuavin. He's expected to start since Sissoko is unlikely to be fit. Have never seen him play. He must be decent since they spent a good amount of money on him.

What happened to quite a % of the people that used to vote 0:5 for the other team every game?

This will be a game of two halves. We'll be better in both. It should be an entertaining match, hopefully the first start for Schweinsteiger. 3-0.

If they're without Sissoko that's a big plus. He's quality, and particularly good at shining against the better teams.

Want to see Basti in for Carrick and Herrera for Adnan (no point hoping to see Chico in for the fat bloke)

    2-0 - Memphis and Mike

Like the look of this, and I agree that Schneiderlin needs protecting

We're not going to change formation now just to fit Herrera in to the team guys, come on actually think about it. Home to Newcastle we're not going to make a defensive switch to the formation are we (by dropping the second striker)? It's nonsensical. If Herrera was going to start this game it would be in place of Schneiderlin or Carrick. But he won't. So there.
