Rotate as much as possible for this. Either rest Casemiro or get him off early for one of the kids, bring Martial and Sancho back in, rest Rashford and Bruno. We've got a ton of games coming up and this tie has basically already been won.

He said ‘the next game is always the most important‘ (or words to that effect) and ‘we will pick a strong team’.
I wouldn’t expect too many changes personally.
He also said he didnt think there would be any more players in yesterday meanwhile we were talking to Sabitzer. I think Ten Hag plays a good game in the pressers with not giving anything away and even lulling the opponents into a false sense of security.

A life change mentally would be pretty tiring I imagine if we get 30 mins out of him I’d be well happy.
Of course I’m sure yesterday was a whirlwind for him, and I’m sure his emotions are all over the shop. Maybe he will be on a high and will be fired up - who’s to say how he will respond to that.
I didn’t really expect him to play tonight to be honest, I was just querying the definition of ‘heavy travelling’. I guess it was tongue in cheek.

Ten Hag is obsessed with winning and momentum. We could be playing the San Diego Silly Sally's U18's and he would start strong.

Expecting Casemiro, Fred, and Bruno in midfield with a front line of Garnacho, Weghorst and Antony/Pellistri. The back four will be strong and could be any combination of our 8 first squad defenders depending on who is fit. I do think it should be Maguire & Lindelof as it's hard to see them getting many more starts other than the FA Cup 5th Round game when looking at the next 5 weeks (unless there's an injury). The full backs will be where rotation can occur and changes in games.

Martial & Sancho on as subs for sure. Hopefully Pellistri if he doesn't start, and McTominay/Shaw/Dalot if they are back in the squad yet.

    Heaton
    Wan-Bissaka Maguire Lindelof Malacia
    Casemiro Fred
    Antony Bruno Garnacho
    Weghorst
    --------
Subs: Mainoo, Sancho, Martial, Pellistri, McTominay*

I think it will be a fairly strong side to start. Provided we have the three goal lead at half time, we will then make a few subs.

I think only Rashford, Varane and maybe Martinez get complete rest.

My guess is Casemiro and Bruno get a half with McTominay out. Elanga up top, Garnacho and Antony out wide, no Varane at the back.

Scary to rest Casemiro and give up the first goal then need to bring him on, but personally I'd risk it. We can't lose him or Varane and that means the Prem is the focus for them. Mainoo can pass a ball and we can field a good backline behind him and Fred. Martial is coming back, so I'm fine with playing Weghorst to win some balls and defend a bit up top for 45 minutes.

Casemiro has played between 42 and 48 league games the last 5 years. If he can play say 17 of our last 18 Prem games (let's say a knock or suspension) and another 6 in all the cups combined he'll be at 52 for us this season and he missed the opening 2 games of the season. Asking him to play 4 or more games than his record year with Madrid seems a bit much, and we can't rest him for Prem games, so resting him for one game here, another in the Prem at some point when he's visibly knackered and say 1-2 FA Cup or Europa League game seems like the most we can expect, so yeah I'd risk it. 3-0 up at home against a relegation threatened side in the league cup is most likely the best chance we're gonna get.

Will Bruno Guimaraes be suspended for the final, or will his suspension be served in league games in between?

Will be served for the 3 league games in between, which is annoying af.

Start McTom and Fred. If they cannot hold it together at home, vs a Forest side (who will also probably make changes..) when holding a 3-0 home advantage, then what's the point of having them in the squad.

Start Martial, Sancho, Pellestri, Garnacho.. start them all. Lindholf, Maguire, AWB, change keepers.. we are 3-0 at home! Be organised, work your socks off, win your battles, and do your job, and we win this game.

Since McT is not fit, I think he'll start Casemiro. He could play Fred at #6, but that is usually not the best idea. I expect the midfield to be our current first team.

Heaton, AWB, Maguire, Lindelof, Malacia, Casemiro, Fred, Bruno, Antony, Garnacho, Weghorst

Sancho and Martial get subbed on for 30 minutes. If we keep the score as is or score more, he'll sub off Casemiro and Bruno.

I'm in the camp which is fine playing a strong squad every game...but this game is starting at 3-0! so I think Casemiro and Rashford can sit on the bench for this one.

We're going into the tie with a virtually unassailable 3-0 lead against comparatively weak opposition and a heavy fixture schedule. So yeah, we'll absolutely play our strongest XI.

No Sabitzer according to the website as he needs to receive his visa still. He might still get a welcome at the match.

De Gea Goalies don't need a rest
    Dalot if fit
Shaw for 50 to get some minutes
    Lindelof to rest Varane
Martinez for 60 because he won't need a rest
Mainoo because he'll be able for this. Case in reserve.
    Antony for 50
Fred is our only option for 8
    Martial to get some minutes
    Sancho easiest game he'll get
    Garnacho Well able

Hopefully Garnacho starts, he deserves it. I'm doubtful there will be much rotation. I wonder will Ten Hag be tempted to include Sabitzer on the bench - there is potential to be a good introduction to the team and ground later in the game.

We never seem to be able to register players in time for the next match. Still at least this one was short notice

Yeah just delighted to have him on board and was no chance he featured tonight even if visa had been sorted already

I have no idea either, yet.
Let’s go for this: ”I hope no one’s stupid enough to write us off“
    predicted team:

    Shilton
    Anderson - Lloyd - Burns - Clarke
    O’Neil - McGovern - Gemmil - Robertson
    Woodcock - Birtles

4 nil to the famous team!
As a teen in the late 80s we'd head over to play a bit of football every Easter and we'd always catch a game at the City Ground. What a team you had then. I saw us and Liverpool get slaughtered there in league games.

Hard to see a situation where Casemiro doesn't start. I'd be ok Mainoo starting next to him for this, but probably not with Fred.

Given who's available, I reckon we'll opt with:

    DDG

    AWB
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Malacia

    Case
    Mainoo

    Elanga
    Bruno
    Garnacho

    Weghorst

Martial & Sancho on second half, Pellistri and Fred to save Bruno and Case's legs after an hour. Wouldn't be against Williams being included to look after our wing-backs. If Shaw's out with Dalot, we need to be careful there.
Looks reasonable but I think it’s really hard to read the mind of the coach this time. Maybe he’ll play Varane- Maguire, as both have been rested a bit now. On the other hand he might want to develop Varane-Lindelof/Shaw for the Barcelona game. And midfield… I have no clue who he will play.

I think the plan was to rest the key defenders in the Reading game but play the attacking players to make sure we win which we did. We already have a 3 goal lead against Forest so scoring is less of a priority. Probably Varane, Lisandro and Shaw will be back in while most if not all the midfield/attacking players will get rested.

Have to play Casemiro today due to Scott's injury and Sabitzer just arriving last night. Very unfortunate; definitely valuing health over performance tonight.
