Let's get it right here. David de gea....in my eyes at fault for both goals!!! Clear the fecking ball. We didn't play great tonight at all but feck me he was useless
De Gea's levels have gone way down since he got his lucrative contract and I would argue even Romero is a better bet right now. He has not deserved the loyalty that has been shown.

It's quite amazing that we (almost all) bought into this brief period of results and performances after having turned a million corners in the last 7 and a half years. The good teams have regressed, we're still a huge work in progress, imbalanced and too often bereft of ideas.

I guess it's just seeing us there top of the table. Though there have been eight other teams occupying that spot this season.

We're short on quality in some important positions and we probably don't have a great manager in the making, though he's done much better than expected.
I think most of us know inside that our position in the table doesn't reflect where we are as a team, but it was fun being amongst the front runners for a little while. Like you mention, there are key positions and imbalances that need addressing but what really pissed me off tonight was the players attitude. We lost today because we played like we expected an easy ride and they outfought us. There are no excuses for that.

Totally clueless and complacent performance from our players and the referee. From front to back there was no urgency and the second goal was just pathetic.

It's a pity no one is telling Matic to do the same. He's not a CB. Sheffield United aren't pressing. So what's he doing standing behind Maguire?
When had Matic played different for us? Thats tactical. He drops into the defence and the full backs push up. Telles' starting position was poor all game.

This, and for me that's the most awful managerial performance I've seen for inability to affect a game that was crying out for obvious tactical adjustments
He has no authority to impose. In matches like this the fact that the players like him means nothing. No urgency, no energy, players out for a brisk stroll in the midst of a title chase and needed a kick in the arse to wake up

There were at least two players closer who could also have got a block in.
Just watch his movement. I am not saying there is no talent but he looks confused he is not prepared. He had 1 great performance and lot off shite ones.

Legend in the making according to some.
He was very good last year, I don't know what is happening to him. He doesn't have the mentality to play here. He needs everything to go his way. No fight, soft belly.

That's just popped the Sunday bubble!

    Is anyone super surprised?

We have got away with a few wins against the low block this season, this result was on the cards

And it never works. Ever. When have we played convincingly using this approach? It doesn't matter who the personnel are. We invariably struggle to break teams down.

What does Martial have on Ole to keep getting starts ahead of Cavani and stay on the pitch when Greenwood got subbed? Greenwood actually looked the most lively of the forwards.

Ok put a line through it try to forget a bag of shit defending that cost us and poor front men today. Just go and win on SAT. I was predicting us getting 83pts. Now if we put in displays like this, more like 75, that maybe scrapes us into top 4. Feck I'm pissed off.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
Think I said this earlier in the thread and previously, that keep starting so pathetically slowly will come to bite us on the arse.
The thing is, it constantly happens, so why doesn't Ole do something to rectify it?
One, he's got to drop some players and two, he should say he'll make subs at HT... And if needed, do it.

I think as disappointing as this is.. perhaps we have to accept that we are going to have a bad day at the office especially through this busy period. We have had games to be up for and we just let our levels drop against the bottom side. We just have to put this aside and try and put things right in the next game. We are not as bad as we showed today. We just had too many players who were just way off the pace.

    Really Dissapointing performance, absolutely gutted.

I rarely critise Ole but as soon as I saw that defence I new we were in trouble. Why would you rest Shaw who's been out best player over the last few weeks and risk Tuanzebe when we're gonna have 70% plus posesion??

We have to beat Arsenal at weekend now, no questions. I think City will drop points over the next few weeks so we need to bounce back fast.

Like someone earlier said, it's the hope that kills you! :) I was telling myself we weren't ready to win the league but absolutely gutted after that performance!

Completely agree, we kind of end up going up and down each wing and then across the back 4 and the opposition doesn’t even get moved about at all.

Pogba can’t be a lone CM, it might work if Bruno drops in but he doesn’t.

Matic dropping into the back three isnt a problem. Its our fecking inconistent front four. They have a good game today and we win. Everything broke down in the final third because we were shit.

It's 3:45 am.. I stayed up for this shit.

I am not surprised.. we were due a bad performance.. the squad isnt complete to the point where I expect that level of consistency.. but we better get the win against Arsenal now.
Title was never really on for me. City it is.. Top 4.. 75+ points and its a good season..

You could argue we had issues getting into the final third.

Agree, Oles got this line up wrong, but most thought it was ok, same as RB away got that wrong . Be a long night and tomorrow trying to analyse this bag of crap in defending especially.

So we are back to earth. We are in for a dogfight for Top 4. A bad result against Arse and we can be in trouble again.

Yea I think this is one too many times now he's let the team down. Basic errors for a supposedly top keeper. It's time he gets fazed out and Henderson comes in

But even if Bruno drops in, we haven't gained anything. We're just playing with 1 less attacking midfielder and 1 more defender.

It is. It really is. How many opportunities did we create tonight? How often did we find space for Bruno to play a striker through? Or Pogba for that matter.

Agree just wrote, 75pts. If we get performances like this again in league SU wont be the only team to play like that against us.. I'm off to bed to try and sleep.

Agreed, I’m not a tactician so can’t give a strong opinion on it but to me it just looks like we are missing an extra option forward when we do this.

Yeah you have to have a meritocracy and the substitutions were bizarre. Bad night for Ole's management I am afraid, on a par with the aberration of seven defenders out of ten outfield players against Leipzig.

Our middle two against low block teams are Pogba and Matic because based on recent games, they've got the creativity to break teams down.

They supplied the front four today but they did feck all with it.

Can this be the end of Martial playing in the number nine position? OI hate to use the word loser but that what he is at a club the size of Man. Utd. Maybe at a Newcastle, he'd be alright. But his production is atrocious.

Now, there's lazy Marcus Rashford. He has some quality but his desire seems very limited to me. Ues, I want Jack Grealish and I don't care if Marcus Rashford likes to play there Grealish is simply better. The get me a real number nine and also keep Cavani.

Now way Greenwood should have the one to come off. He was easily the best of the front three today.

That’s the point though, they’re hardly a middle 2 when matic is basically playing LCB, I don’t remember a lot of occasions Pogba or Matic played a dangerous ball through the lines. How many times were Pogba and matic in midfield together alongside each other to give the extra option?

I agree the front 4 were abysmal though, all awful.

He's a shitbag and every team knows it. Put corners and crosses under crossbar and he'll shit out every time, same with one on ones.
Anybody bearing down in him and he'll just stick a token foot out then look around with a gormless expression hoping to find somebody else to blame.

As I said earlier he thought this would be easy and he is saving Lindelof for the Arsenal game.
Well that’s a pointless decision now. His record against Arsenal suggests we won’t win that game either. Suggested title race is well and truly gone.
