Relieved to go into the break 2 1 up. We have taken a few liberties with Southamptons press and Pogba has been caught several times, it was a stupid error to make. However he has somewhat made up for his mistake, well done to Rashford and Martial for their goals. Can’t believe Romelu is still on the pitch, straight red card, another joke decision by VAR.

Sensible second half will see us win this game, we will blow it if we toy with their press.

Their coach is tactically better than ours. We just have better players
He's just another bumrush manager in the mould of Klopp and Wagner. His tactics were effective for about 15 minutes before his players started looking leggy and leaving late challenges in.

Lee Mason and linesman Marc Perry in the VAR room tonight.

Absolute cowards the both of them. If Greenwoods leg had stayed in the grass it would have been broken.

    Im sure James is quicker

Its also the same thing that black players are continually being judged on their athleticism rather than skill .

Souness and sky have been criticised rightly for this
Yeah, everything I’ve seen said about Greenwood these past few weeks has been all about his pace. Nothing else.

    That challenge is atrocious.

18 years in an academy, breaking into the first team and it just takes one thug to end a career.

I think there was intent by Romeu.

The press and the pundits spent all day questioning United's bottle. That half shows we've got it. Southampton came to play, they pressed hard and high, they went 1-0 up and still we go in at half time ahead.

Martial has been superb. The strength he's showed with his back to goal has been textbook. Andy Cole eat your heart out.

PS) Not sure how VAR let Romeu get away with lifting his trailing leg to rake Mason's ankle. We should be playing against 10 men.

It would be nice if for a change black players are judged on talent snd not athleticism thats all
Neville complemented them plenty before even mentioning speed.

Both can be true and he done both

Martial, Rashford and Greenwood worked hard to catch back up to fight press their defenders. I remember thinking “we’ve got some quick forwards!” And a second later Gary said “I wonder who’s the quickest out of that front three”. To me it was directly in relation to seeing them all show a great turn of pace and nothing to do with them being black.

Just get this result over the line boys! Great comeback after a shaky start.

Honestly feck right off. Not everyone judges players by their colour- which you obviously do.

We have a quick front line & interesting to know who’s quickest. Stop searching for outrage & try not to think of our players by their skin colour in future

AWB, Matic and Pogba have been sloppy. Greenwood needs to get into the game more. We just need to break past their press. Every time we do that we end up overloading them in attack because they cannot recover in time.
Matic is the only player winning second balls and that doesn’t look hungover

Wan bissaka an embarrassment today. cant think quickly enough. Lindelof also playing a pass into pogba who is surrounded by 3 player???? Why doesn't he think fast enough and switch the ball to shaw who is open. I just dont understand how at this stage we still have players who dont now what to do under pressure.

So if the on-field stats say 3 black players are the quickest on the field, mentioning that fact is racist?
Apparently, what a load of bollocks.

Those 3 were highlighted because Neville asked the question because they’re the front 3 and they’re all fast and they’re probably the 3 fastest players on the pitch so it was just a curious question.

So three black players are mentioned and all Gary Neville can obsess over is which one of them is the quickest.

Now if Souness did that ?
You literally ruined a game of football of my favourite club, for me with this.

Our passing throughout the team is shockingly bad. Slow, inaccurate and telegraphed. It makes it easier for teams to push up and press knowing full well that more often then not they'd gain possession. Its a major flaw of Ole and rest of coaching staff that this aspect of our game is miles away from the top teams.

We havent played well because southampton have not let us play. Why do we persist trying to play out from the back when they have a Very effective 5 man high press. By-pass their press and they are short in midfield To stop us running at the defence.
The keeper and so called pass master CB are not good enough to bypass their press

Bruno tried another pirouette on to the ball in that half. I’m worried someone will accidentally really injure him with a mistimed one when he does it, wish he’d stop!

Southampton struggle beating the high press and resort often to long punts which we scoop up easy. But we're struggling with their high press. For all the talk of our defenders being better on the ball - which they are compared to recent seasons - we struggle with being pressed and opponents who play with intensity. Being good on the ball and being good under pressure aren't the same thing, unfortunately.

how have the VAR referees looked at that Romeu tackle on Greenwood and thought of that as not worthy of a yellow (let alone red)?!?

It's because AWB is sleeping and having a nightmare. The only option is to play thru the centre or the left. He needs the hair dryer treatment at half time.

James isn’t playing? It’s the speeds they were clocked during this game!
It was the season stats but to be fair Neville had pondered who of our current front 3 were quickest and Sky showed it. lsd is on LSD it seems to think there was any undertone to the discussion.

Give Romeu the obvious red card and it takes away their only weapon. Absolute disgrace.

I'm fed up with this boring recycled diatribe.

Ole has got us playing some of the best football we've played since Fergie's retirement. The club as as whole looks FAR better for it, both off and on the pitch.

What can the fecking man do? He inherited an absolute mess, and he's managed to turn it right around and we're flying currently. See that word? *Managed*. It's what managers do. Manage shit. And he's doing a great job all things considered.

We're winning and look like scoring more. Enjoy it instead of moaning and taking any opportunity to have a pop at one of our favourite son's.

It was the speed throughout the season . Look we all know if Souness sat on Sky for five mins talking about which one of the three was quickest people on here would be going off on him calling it casual racism

Neville does it and you go into denial

Any defense will struggle with such high press. Saints are just well trained and coached on it I believe.

Not every game is going to be perfect.
For what could be a banana peel game, we have done well enough and have all the confidence we will finish them off.
I'm sure we can be less critical...

Just tuned in for the last 3 minutes of the half. Have caught up on the goals though. Martial's was pretty decent. Good stuff from him. Fair to say it's not us at our most impressive? At least that seems to be what I read on sky sports anyway.

VAR continues to be a joke.

Pogba, Lindelof and AWB probably the 3 weakest performers so far. Need them to step up.

    Martial brilliant.

They won't keep up this pace. Just need to be quicker in passing from the back and we'll do them even more.
