an upset loss here will not be disastrous! Leicester still has to go to Spurs and battle mighty Sheffield Utd

Not this game, all games left are massive.

If we make it, this would be a huge step forward.

Come on boyZ, come on Ole!

Our players need to treat this game like a cup final.

We've gotten off to slow starts the past 2 league games. We need to start off on fire.

Must win in this squeaky bum time. And ditch the dirty habit of dropping points when everyone else does

The only thing that’s going to settle my nerves is a certain court case involving a certain sentence being upheld or realistically reduced in half.

This is it. No more dropping points when we finally have a chance to climb up the table. I just want to see us in 3rd. Please we've been 5th for sooo long

    Cant decide.

Same team or 1 or 2 changes (Williams for Shaw, McT for Matic)?

I hope we take this opportunity and put down a real marker. Imagine the reaction if we smacked them for 3/4 in the same week Chelsea and Leicester have botted it. Would also completely erode Leicester's goal difference which could be important come that final match. Having said all that, I'd still take a scrappy 1-0 victory.

Same team, get them fired up...hopefully same outcome and can afford the last 20 minute 'rest period'.

As good as Saints have been post lockdown, they have pretty much nothing to play for so no excuses this is so important .... next season, Champions League, good signings (Sancho ??), Pogba staying, and a massive signal of intent for 20/21 season.

Definitely same team. Keep the momentum going.
The problem here is that some of our players didn't look sharp last game, particularly Matic and AWB, we are probably better off bringing in some freshness without affecting the team too much.

Matic has been quite sloppy but I can imagine Southampton players pouncing on Fred and collecting the ball or Mctominay making a sloppy pass to Southampton. Stick with Matic and the same line up. Take anybody who is costing us during the game off immediately

This game will tell us what we want to know about where this side is, the chance to go 3rd in the table having spent so many months languishing 5th or below regardless of our results

A draw wouldn't be the end of the world. Southampton are a decent side and have one of the leagues in form strikers. A draw is still a point gained on Leicester and Chelsea

Yes there are cases for keeping everything as it is, and for making changes, but I'll just go with what Ole and the coaching/medical team decide. Matic and Greenwood are the two that may need a rest, but no doubt they would get subbed after about an hour if we were winning. Would like to see McTominay and Fred together again sometime, with Pogba in between, slightly advanced. Rashford and Martial as a two up front, with Bruno as a false nine. Probably never happen, but it intreagues me to see how that would work. If we win tomorrow, then I would expect changes on Thursday.

    Only positive thoughts man!

Like I said in another thread, this team has the feel of the real deal now with a solid spine.

I don't see us dropping any points till the end of the season if we use our first 11, my only issue is with our sharp drop in quality with our reserve

Anyways, here is to us recording a fifth straight 3-0 win or more!.. Martial with a brace

Southampton are 12th for a reason. It is never a good result to draw at home to the 12th best team in the league.

If they were as good as everyone in this thread seems to think they wouldn’t be in the bottom half.

Anything but a win is a poor result. We are playing at Old Trafford and we are the most in form team at the moment. We should be looking at 3 points.

Though one this they’re in pretty good form including a 1-0 win over City last week.

    Scrappy 2-1 to us hopefully.

100% must win. The quicker we can secure our place the better and we need to take every opportunity we are given.

Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool all took maximum points off Southampton this season. Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs (and us) all dropped points against them. This is our time to show we belong with the former, not the latter.

There will be nerves for sure but don't think we will just be nervous for 90 minutes. I think this is the game where the likes of Pogba Bruno Maguire Matic will calm the nerves and make sure the team do not forgot what's up for grabs. A win tomorrow and Leicester will probably lose all the remaining moral. Must win game lads.

This is going to be a real test of where this team is at the moment and if we truly are turning a corner. This is exactly the game we’ve fecked up on time and time again previously, and failed to push on and take advantage of our rivals dropping points. A win here will make a big statement of how much we’ve improved and the mental strength of this current Utd side.

We need to match them for work rate, and if we do, then our quality should see us through.

Agreed this is a tough match, but we’ve come through some tough games so I believe.

We need to not start slowly again though a lot of that recently.

Spot on. We need to start at a decent tempo. I'm hoping that our sluggishness at the start of the last two matches was just a bit of overconfidence, not feeling tired.
