I expect de Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Fred, Bruno and probably James to come back into the side at least. It's also possible we switch to a 4231/433, so one of Shaw/Williams would miss out. It's hard to choose between the two in that case and I'm also unsure who will start out of Bailly & Lindelof now. I think I'd rather Lindelof for this game and Bailly for Brugge after last night. I know some may think Bailly is a better match for Deeney, but I also think Bailly is a better match for Denis when Brugge will almost certainly play counter attack at Old Trafford. Bailly could of course play both, but I think it's unlikely due to him just coming back and his injury record.

    de Gea
    Wan-Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred Matic
    Bruno
    Greenwood Martial James

This is probably what I'd like to see most. Ideally, be able to bring back McTominay as a sub and get Ighalo on again.

We should use Bailly like Ledley King. Only use him for big matches and don’t allow him to train as much as everyone else.

This will be a tough game. If we win we will probably just nick it 1-0 or 2-1.

Hope Scott, Greenwood and Bailly are back for this one.
The state of United when Watford, 2nd from bottom is a tough game. We should be smashing them but we won't. It will most likely be a score you predicted.

Watford are an athletic team that are decent on the counter, we will need to be careful but I suspect if we can get Bruno and Martial into the game enough, they'll win it for us.

I'm seeing 0-1 by half-timer followed by two moments of individual brilliance, from the two you mentioned, to win 2-1.

Weren't Watford bottom of the table before beating United 2-0 at the end of December. Under Pearson they are not set up to be smashed by anyone. Even Liverpool for long spells struggled v Watford at home and I recall the Sarr lad missing a number of sitters.

Just hoping it doesn't follow the Burnley pattern. We battered them in the first half and should have been home and dry, then the sucker punch.

Fingers crossed our lucks in a bit more this time.

    ..............DDG................
    AWB Bailly Maguire Williams
    .........Matic Fred.............
    ........Fernandes..........
    James....Igalho.... Martial

Would like to see Igalho get a start against his former club, I'd fancy him for a goal or two...

Pearson has improved them a bit but honestly we were fecking atrocious in that game and would probably have been spanked by Watford Ladies if we had played them. I am expecting a more determined performance this time around and Ighalo to score is a good shout, it is just one of those weird football traditions when ex players return to a club. Deffo think 4 at the back for this one and I would play Shaw over Williams just because Williams showed signs of burnout last night and needs to be managed properly.

Debating whether I would throw Scott back in the starting 11 for this one... don’t want to rush him back but we need to win this and keep momentum.

    Are you OGS?
    Yes, you got me :wenger:

He’s trained for two weeks, I think I’m going to gamble and start him.

It’s that part of the season where we can’t afford draws/losses.

If we don’t secure CL it will be such a wasted opportunity to help fast track this rebuild in the summer.

I'd hope it's a more determined performance also and major improvement required on Uniteds last two Old Trafford games, a loss to Burnley, draw with Wolves and failed to score in both games.

Shaw looks more suited to a back 5 however Williams had agurably his worse game in the United shirt last night

I can't wait to see Fred and Bruno working off of each other to feed Greenwood, Martial, and James

    DeGea
    AWB - Bailly - Maguire - Shaw
    Fred - Matic
    Greenwood - Bruno - James
    Martial

    Subs: Williams, Mata, Ighalo

From what I saw we missed three gilt edged chances in the last 10 minutes or so, and with Lingards poor miss in the first half, we could and should have beaten them, even if we were rubbish on that day. Watford's two goals were a penalty, and an absolute howler from De Gea. Those missed chances throughout the season, along with the missed penalties, have cost us dear, could have an extra 6 - 8 points by now.

No, James is a more natural left sided guy and Greenwood can cut in on the right, and that's the position he's been so let's keep consistency. Martial false 9 to launch attacks and combine with Bruno, he will probably be asked to go on the left side, in this case, James will be asked to get in the middle and continue the attack.

James seemed much more comfortable on the left when Martial was out injured and Rashford moved to the middle. Since Martial came back and they shifted around, James hasn't been nearly as effective. He was on the left a bit last weekend and put in a beautiful cross to no one at one point.

Until and if Martial leaves, Greenwood will be stuck out on the right (haven't seen him play much from the left) unless Ole is resting the former and puts the latter in the middle. As @Gasolin points out, Greenwood cuts in from the right, and does it very efficiently.

I hope Mason plays because there are not enough goals in this team without Rashford.
Enough of the LVG boring sideways movement and let us be entertaining for a change.

This, but sub Matic for McTominay early as possible, Matic played 2 games this week already!

He already looked more tired and less effective vs Brugge than vs Chelsea, I don't think we should play him at all. We've seen how pointless he is if we Traveller him out. Three games in six days is way too much for him.

That said I'm not exactly sure how you make that happen. It would be silly to give McTominay more than half an hour.

I hope Ole grows some balls and doesnt play 5 at the back. We need both Martial and Ighalo to play. I would go 4123 Matic being the holding Bruno and Fred/McTom in front and Greenwood Martial Ighalo the front 3. Cock this game up and we have Everton City Spurs and Sheff Utd in the next 4 games

It's more about the intent than the formation, even if we go 3-5-2 we can still have full backs getting forward with Fred and bruno providing support through the midfield to Ighalo and martial.

Wonder if Ole might try Lindelof Maguire Bailly at a back 3?
