Well we started well looked bright for 25 minutes. Nice crisp passing. i actually thought James started well and looked the biggest threat, let himself down with the final balls a couple of times. Whilst well in control We look Light weight upfront, greenwood keeps drifting wide when he needs to play centre half..
could probably swop lingard off for ighalo as we have too many midfielder and not enough strikers.

unfortuate knock for Bailly but doesnt look like a long term injury.

Bailly seems to put himself in a lot of situations where he can get injured.
He’s a central defender about to head a high ball coming back into the box? I’d be annoyed if he wasn’t there

henderson is the 1 who needs to be blamed if anything. He’s come flying out of nowhere to try and punch a risky ball that didn’t even need it, and now he’s injured a player.

but yeah let’s blame Bailly for doing his job.

He seems good wherever he is on the ball tbh. Few lovely touches round the box today.
I agree but he can disappear for longer periods at number 10. I personally like him starting from deeper where he gets more involved and can naturally progress forwards. Controversial but I think him, Mata and Lingard have rotated well, just a lack of end quality and product.

Only thing I really want from this game is a goal for Greenwood, but he hasn't looked like getting one so far :(

Looks like he’s lost a lot of confidence, I think he could do with a few reserve games again to get that spark back.

this is the issue with playing him on the wing, they almost forget what made them so good in the first place.

Who's blaming him? Lots of people are just saying he always gets injured. It's one of the undisputable facts of life that he'll manage 3-4 games then get injured. Knee to the head, pulled hamstring, snapped banjo string.....barely matters anymore. He always gets injured.
It's a game of contact and this was really unlucky. Anybody could have been hit and replaced, Bailly being the victim here doesn't say anything. It feels very cnutish to go in on him for this. Like this what you were patiently waiting for

I’m not really sure where this view is coming from though? He’s only made one bad mistake. Aside from that he’s played very well. Played well against city the other night too.
No it’s not that he’s dropping clangers, it’s just a vibe that he gives off tbh.

I could be wrong but I know what the other poster was referring to.

He seems a bit flappy at crosses, that run out to Sarr was a bit nuts, I’m not a fan of his punching of the ball which again is a touch flappy.

I don’t think it’s anything major but I just don’t see what the fuss was over, but it’s early days and I saw very little of him on loan so I could be talking through my @rse.

Bailly is so unlucky, have to feel for him. Hope it's not too bad.

It's been a mixed game. We've played some good stuff, Mata and VdB unsurprisingly linking well. Pressing's good, decision making bad. One more quality attacker on and we'd be 3-0 up. The only chances Watford have had came from our own bad passes.

We don't have a player on the pitch who can hit long passes accurately. If VdB can add that to his game, he'd be a nailed on starter. But currently you can see his strength lies in the Bruno position which he isn't going to get. He's done well in terms of quick but safe ball progression and tackling.

Thing is with Henderson, it’s that his current irritants are correctable. More appropriately, tone down-able. With proper coaching, it’s far easier to have a player eliminate something in his game to improve than to need to coach something into him.

He doesn’t seem to have the potential ceiling of a DDG, but he offers us a different style.

Some pretty disgraceful studs-showing posts on Bailly here for a clattering that was in no universe his fault.

Have a word with yourself. Some of you pricks are actually blaming him for this. You should be ashamed of yourselves

He is totally soft and a waste there is no excusing the amount of games he misses anc the games he starts yet goes of injured.

Just happens time and time again there is no point in having him

I find his runs in the box and his short one twos are better. His back heel to Mata is the type of thing he does. He is a deadly player in the box and it is why he is regarded like Muller to people because he can read the spaces in the box quite well.

In the midfield he is okay but I feel he goes missing and his passing isnt a wide range as it needs to be.
He did well for that flick to mata but even starting from deep there’s nothing stopping him getting into advanced areas. I do largely disagree though, he’s been underwhelming as a number 10 and doesn’t get involved enough. Look at a player like Bruno for comparison. I think his best hope at Utd is to become a deeper player in the mold of a modric which I think he’s capable of in time.

Has anyone ever been sent off for dangerous play against their own team mate?

Lingard was more useless than him today. James at least had a few shots, including one on target
To be fair, doing better than Lingard should not be the standard our players aim for. Lingard should be playing in the Championship. In saying this, he does tend to do well against Championship sides, so he may score today.
I'd never play him against an EPL team, though.

He got a knee to the head. Couldn't they have waited, let him recover n come out for 2nd half

His performance has been very good tonight, strange post. Defended his goal and box very well.

This has been my concern with him shunted on the wing for Martial.

I got pelted for it. It’s not good for his progression and a player of his calibre needs to be fine tuning his trade in his correct position.

Disagree. Pass of the game was a delicate flick to put Mata one on one with the keeper. Inside the box
That was class, he can do that everywhere on the pitch though. Don’t think it can be debated his best performances in a Utd shirt have come from a deeper role though.

Yup. It was an absolute batshit attempt from Henderson that he got nowhere near, lead with a knee (into his centre-backs head), and wasn't even necessary.

He is totally soft and a waste there is no excusing the amount of games he misses anc the games he starts yet goes of injured.
Imagine thinking it's soft to get kneed in the face and have to go off.

    This is absolutely not true.
It absolutely is. He never looks up. He can never pick out a pass and even his shot was just a case of hitting it in the right direction.

I never criticise our players usually but he is so far away from the required level.

You could use your point at any other time but why tonight and why for this ffs ? He rarely goes off the pitch for injury anyway. This was a freak occurence. He got kneed in the head and you say he's soft

I'd take a yellow tonight tbh, think lindelof and tuanzebe can keep burnely at bay anyway. The worry is him getting a card against Burnley.

However, not having him for the Liverpool game night not be the worst thing, Liverpool have so much pace upfront they will catch him out a shit ton imo.
I'm under no illusions about his weaknesses, but I still think he's the best we've got. Tuanzebe will hopefully keep injury free and can eventually become his partner this season. I'm not sure we can handle two tall strikers with balls into the box without Maguire. Also, no need to get a yellow tonight (I hope).

Just look at his injury record. This wasnt his «fault» but he cant be relied upon. Never has, never will be. Love or hate the man, nobody can deny that injury record
    Right?

I mean, whatever happened to footballers taking their flying Hadouken kicks to the head like the grown-ass men they are?

    Man up Eric!

Get a 2nd please. Our passing is poor and we’re open to their attacks. Can’t be arsed with any drama.

Actually about 7-8 years ago two players on the same team had a right go at each other and one of them got sent off. Might have been Newcastle, but I’m not sure. Never seen anything like it before or since.

Next time Bailly returns to the first team, I want to see him wearing Petr Cechs helmet, Diego Costa's face mask and Stone Cold Steve Austin's knee brace.
Only then will I feel truly comfortable with him out there.

Yeah agreed. Putting a striker outwide does have its place to teach them certain skills but you can only learn the craft of being a striker whilst playing as a striker.

Beyond game time i think there's little reason to play him there now.
