Shame about reports of Pellistri testing positive if the reports are true and he was due to get some minutes..
The reports are true, OGS has revealed as much, but he's otherwise fine. 10 days and he'll be back

No I don't yet. About 4 or 5 good performances in 2 years and a disgraceful injury record to boot. He needs to earn that place.
    Agreed.
Some fans just need 2 good performances per year and they feel that that player is a regular first teamer.
Baily can't seem to stay fit and that's his problem.
Even now, I don't know if he is fit or not.

Personally I think we will see him soon, because we need improvement on the right wing now. But he must be fit to play, and only coaching team may judge on his fitness, not us, supporters...
He barely has any senior team appearances.
The same expectation was placed on Dalot (who also had little senior team experience) when he first arrived.
Given that we are in a title race and I'm sure that Ole wants to try and win the FA Cup, I don't see Amad Dialo playing for the first team anytime soon as every game we play will be crucial, but we'll have to wait and see.

Would love to see tuanzabe and mengi start together. Perfect game for pellistri too.

It's pretty funny that Garner is (well) first choice at Watford. And they will probably rotate a bit. Still, Ole won't play any youth player here because he's afraid. No way he will play Galbraith or Elanga, they won't even be in the squad.
Well, Ole wants to win all remaining trophies so every game we play is important, which means that he'll probably use a very strong set of players for every match.

Can we just play the kids for this one? Can't be arsed to watch us play against Wolves again in the next round.

He needs first team chances if he is going to earn that place. He also seems better suited to playing with Maguire.

Should win this with ease whichever XI Ole names, but I have a sneaky feeling that we might give one of our "sluggish" performances. Would love to see Diallo given some minutes - to let us see what we've got -- but I'm sure that won't happen. How soon after signing him did SAF give Ronaldo a place on the bench? I can't remember...

I hear Ighalo will be playing and Donny should be given a full 90 minutes. My guess is Mata will play but I can't see why Lingard would (my guess again, however, is he will). I'd like to see a back four picked and played week in/week out - but that won't happen...

In the first game he could, in our first game of the season at home to Bolton. Although iirc, Ronaldo had trained with the first team for a while. Diallo’s been here 2 days so I doubt he’ll play tonight.

how can an injury record be "disgraceful"?
Because he has to be aware of his own fragility yet continues to play like some kind of kamikaze mad man.
Bailly, Jones and Rojo are all guilty of this. Regularly getting injured for diving everywhere like idiots.
Giggs was plagued by hamstring injuries. He changed his game and saved his career.

From memory we signed Ronaldo on the Friday and he played the next day

Clearly forgot then  Still though, I don’t think Diallo should play tonight. Not gonna be great if he has a stinker due to a lack of match fitness (hardly played for Atalanta) and chemistry with the rest of the team.

I can't believe for the life of me that people really think that he has a chance of playing tonight?

He's only just landed FFS! He'll be training with the squad on Monday.

Don't be surprised to see him watching us from the exec boxes tonight

Think we can rest and rotate very well here without going too crazy. Watford are decent and a home loss again would be pretty damaging to confidence ahead of a big week.

    Id go

    Henderson

    Williams
    Tuanzebe
    Bailly
    Telles

    Matic
    Mctominay
    Van De Beek

    Mata
    Greenwood
    James

Id get pogba on at ht if needed as I can't see him starting vs pool.

Let him play vs Burnley then. A lot on here are neglecting the fact that we still have another PL game before Liverpool.

I’d be happy with something along those lines. An academy player on the bench in case united go a few goals up, and some of the big hitters in case.

He’ll probably play mostly for U23’s this season. People waiting for him in the first team will be disappointed
A couple of games at least to get acclimatised.

But as we saw with the Villa kids last night, if you are good enough to trade shots with senior players then take a chance and play them.

Tbf I think people just want to see one of him or Pellistri tonight. Shame neither will play, but we’ll see them in due course I’m sure.

I think one of Martial/Rash will play. Money's on Martial.

Hate the look of that CB pairing. Not played together and Got errors all over it

Martial could do with playing but Rashford needs a rest.

Maguire needs a rest too he's played the last 19 games. Bailly could start instead of Tuanzebe I suppose, It's hard guessing Ole's cup squads.

You don’t want a weak back four if Sarr and Deeney are playing. Asking for trouble

No a half here if needed and start against Burnley shouldn't be too taxing if not starting at anfield. That's just my guess that he won't play at anfield. Too competitive a game for him

Shame about pellistri falling ill. Would have been ideal

Not quite: he joined on August 12 and made his debut on August 16. So signed on Tuesday, came off the bench on Saturday.

We should play with backups and rotation players.

    Hendo
    Williams Bailly Tuanzebe Telles
    Matic
    VDB Lingard
    Mata Ighalo Greenwood

I won't cry a river if we get knocked out. I obviously want us to win and any trophy is a bonus at present.

But I think the further we go, the more Ole will be inclined to introduce more of our first teamers into the line ups. I prefer a strong and comfortable top four finish (and more if possible) than a cup run to be honest. I can just see the likes of Bruno and Rashford being run ragged by March time.
