More rumours from the M.E.N.:lol:

    ‘Mole has been rumbled’
There is one name on everyone’s lips in the press room: Schweinsteiger. Bild reported last night he was in the squad and there are more strong rumours this morning, since Michael Carrick is said to have suffered a slight injury and is out. That is, of course, unconfirmed and remains a rumour.

I’ve been told the ‘mole has been rumbled’, too. A team is circulating around this morning which includes Carrick, so that is probably wrong.

The line-up is: De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Darmian, Carrick, Pogba, Herrera, Mata, Ibrahimovic, Lingard or Rashford. Mourinho is onto these team news leaks, so don’t take the above team as gospel, especially since it sounds like Carrick won’t play today.

IF Schweinsteiger is brought back into the fold, it could reflect damningly on another midfielder, namely Morgan Schneiderlin, who was excluded from the matchday squad against Feyenoord. He might have picked up an injury, of course.

Don’t expect an explanation on selections until full-time, though. The game isn’t being televised in the UK and MUTV won’t get to talk to Mourinho pre-match, either, I’m told. Premier League TV might get to have a word with the United manager before kick-off.

So many words to say "we haven't got a clue".

Usually a little nervous playing the Hammers. But this as to be the poorest West Ham team for a while. 2-1

Why would you play Lingard ahead of Martial, Mkh or Rashford? Because are Man Utd and want to fail
Becuase Lingard has done more than Rashford OR Martial who have been given plenty of opportunities, Mkh not so much.

Why does this get questioned everytime he plays, even if he played well the game before.

If we had Messi on bench who had not kicked a ball all season, would you still want Lingard ahead of him?

Why not just choose the better player? I would also have Depay ahead of Lingard, Lingard is a nothing player imo

You start your best players. There is no question that Martial is easily better than Lingard who is average
He has been starting, and hasn't taken his chances.

He hasn't been right about too many things so far or else we would not be 11 points behind
Well his take is that Martial was better suited to to the way Van Gaal played and he would need to adapt .

I read that as the journo inferring that Morgan is the mole?
I think the journo knows nothing and isn't even sure if Mourinho is after a mole. They covered every blade of grass.

Which is why you are not a manager.

Having players who were never necessarily world class in and around the squad has always done us well.

This shoehorning a player in because they are the better player is why we have been shite for 2/3 years now.

Our success came at a time when we had the likes of Park, O'Shea, Brown and Fletcher.

These guys are willing players who will work their finger to the bone for the manager.

Now I am not saying Lingard is as good as any of them but he gives his all.

    Also Depay is shit.

I do not care, he is the better player than Lingard

This is a massive problem in our club, we don't pick our best players and pick Championship players like Lingard

So do you mean that we should start the same, ”best XI” in every game? We should really sell the rest to save some cash.

Martial may be no Messi, but I agree with the point you let your more talented players play their way in to form. A firing Martial could be pivotal to our season.

A bigger problem is picking players based on reputation

Yep. M.E.N. really don't know what is going on.

    Carrick likely out
Carrick’s possible absence could make Mourinho’s team selection easier, in that Herrera comes back in for him and the rest of the front six remains unchanged from the Feyenoord stroll. There would be reservations retaining that line-up - it looks, on paper, incredibly gung-ho for a Mourinho side and Mkhitaryan is yet to do it as a starter in the Premier League, while Rooney has been a hindrance in the league this season.

The team that is circulating is more cautious, but of course it has Carrick in it and, even with over an hour to go until the team is confirmed, it seems safe to discount him today.

I'm all for us starting lesser in-form players over better ones but this game seems a good one for Martial etc to play their way into form.

This is rubbish, you are saying these players were the reasons we won trophies?!
Are you saying that those players DID NOT contribute??

I didn't say they were the sole reason but I reckon they had a large input and allowed the freedoms our more creative players had.

Those players were part of the reason, as they consistently played to a high level and were dependable players. It doesn't matter if a player is a world-beater on his day. If he's playing worse than his competition, and Martial is playing significantly worse than Lingard at the moment, then he doesn't deserve to start, simple as that.

I agree with the notion that the better players should start our PL game. This is the sort of game where Mkhi and Martial can play their way into some degree of form.

Yes, just like Barca do and Madrid. You don't see them dropping out of form Bale for some academy player
Is Messi also "some academy player" as he came from Barca's own academy? For the record Lingard has scored 3 goals and assisted 2 in 549 minutes. Martial 2 goals, 2 assists in 715 minutes. He should produce better performances to keep out the Lingard and the likes. As for your lack of appreciation of our own full international academy player who always gives his all...

Martial has been crap bar that goal. He may be more talented than Lingard but it counts for nothing if he's playing terrible.
