Really poor from Rashford not scoring from that beauty of a cross from Greenwood.

Who could criticise West Ham for playing like this?

It's been proven demonstrably and without doubt that teams that sit behind the ball, regardless of quality, have a better chance of beating us than if they set up to attack us.

Moyes has to set his side out to win. The best way to beat us is to sit deep and counter............because it's more effective than any other method versus us.

I wonder if AWB could be converted to CB. He has a natural talent for defensive work and he's still young enough.

    I mean why not?
I brought this up once and another poster (rightly) mentioned he's not good enough positionally/aerially for a CB. Maybe on the right of a three however.
I do like him though, he has had some 10/10 games for us and overall I don't think I'd swap him for many others in the league.

    There's only one United!
And this half showed everyone where our problem lies:
We don't have wingers who take on full backs and get to the defensive line and cross from there.

really wondered what would be the general opinion in here after this half. i am not surprised but what the hell do people think how football works? west ham with 10 men behind the ball is not easy to play against. we had all of the ball and 2-3 good chances with smooth interplay and could and maybe should have scored already (rashys header should have been at least on goal, greenwoods shot was superbly saved).

I think we’ve been pretty good. Completely locking them in their half, something the likes of City, Leicester and Spurs haven’t been able to do this season. Passing is crisp and there are some visible patterns of play, aside from when it gets to AWB. Chance conversion has been an issue as usual though. Rashford missed a sitter and Mason was extremely unlucky. Keeper pulled off a genuinely amazing save to deny him. West Ham have come for a 0-0, no doubt about that. 5 defenders and 3 holding midfielders

Need to take a chance in the 2nd half and get the opening goal. We should be fine for the rest of the game if we do so. Mason looking sharp, definitely MOTM so far, hope he (or anyone in red today!) scores.

Why play James againt siting back defence? He doesn't get the ball. He doesn't do takeons he offers nothing in offensive sense. Fred wastes every ball as soon as he needs to pass more than 10m distance. Why play Fred and McT in this game where you need some better and quicker pasing in the middle?
    Cause hail our great manager

We are so bloody average trying to break teams down. The few times we manage it we feck up our chances anyway.

Really missing Pogba. Bruno has been good but just not enough players on his level.

Hopefully Ole will bring Diallo on for James, doubt he will though, as bad as James is he does track back. Not sure that's in Diallo locker right now.

Not the worst performance from the team, we should be winning at the moment, poor miss from Rashford and worldie of a save from Fabianski against Greenwood. West Ham will surely pose more of a threat in the 2nd half.

This man gets it. AWB is a passenger when not asked to defend regularly
I've already said it, but he's a lot better on the ball than we he first signed, but he's not making a difference today.

Or ask him to tuck in a bit when we have the ball and tell mct to make more runs in behind from deep starting position.

We need to do something tactailly.

Our biggest two opportunities started with Fred. It goes unnoticed how often this happens.

If it carries on as it is then Amad for Dan James is the obvious sub to make. James needs to make an impact.

I think we'll still win this, but nevertheless I don't enjoy watching us play at the moment.

Mcfred not good enough in these sort of games, AWB and James have made right hand side virtually non existent. Despite all that we should still be wining which shows how awful West Ham have been.

Well that was a thrilling half. No, wait. That's not the right word. Ummm, oh yes: the predictable shite. One good shot in 45 minutes. Quick get that contract ready for Ole...

Seriously why does it take us 20 minutes to even get started. it's the same almost every game, particularly at home? Our build-up play is laboured and predicable, we pass it around each other four of five times, try to get it forward, no one makes a run and we play it back again. And some people find this acceptable?

It would help if AWB could have a rest every now and then. Not buying a right back in the summer or January was a mistake.

It didn't go unnoticed. He was complimented here.

He doesn't play pass through the lines often enough though

We're playing on the front foot and deserve to be ahead even though we aren't.

You need an early goal against these bus parking types of shite. Doesn't help that they know they can leave the right side less protected as 90% of our attacking comes from the left or centre.

I can't shake the feeling that we go into these games expecting the opposition to cower and fall apart at our presence because we are the Almighty Man Utd. We seem to approach the sorts of games in the same way and it's a real struggle. Huge problem that we're currently unable to fix. If teams just sit back or...just defend well, then it's a problem for us. We have to expect that other teams are going to turn up organised and prepared to frustrate us.

We just don't seem to be getting it.

Who would they be crossing to? When we have it wide, and we've had it wide a lot, there's rarely a target in the box. Greenwood's not going to be winning it against those central defenders, nor is Dan James. It's Marcus or bust.

He really doesn't. Neither him or McTominay are good enough with the ball. So often look panicked and choose the easy way out.

Shame he never brought that here with him from Ajax.
You need at least two players wanting to do a quick two pass if you want to succeed with that. 90% of our players don't do this kind of stuff. Fred and McT are scared of loosing the ball. AWB also. Shaw, Rashford, Mason and Bruno are capable of pulling if off though if instructed properly I suppose.
