The critic of Eriksen is just stupid. A few months ago there were no limits to how brilliant a signing people thought Eriksen was. Now he is suddenly at most a back-up player according to the so-called "sofa experts". I have followed Eriksen since he played for Ajax and made his debut for Denmark. He has always needed breaks in between. He hasn't had that at all this season. If he is spared a few games, he will come back in the same form as a few months ago.

Therefore I would really want thise line-up:

    --------------DdG-------------
    AWB--Varane-Martinez-Malacia
    ------------Casemiro-Fred----------------
    ------------------Bruno--------------------
    Elanga---------------------Garnacho
    -----------------Rashford---------------------

Wood is cuptied - it’ll be a front 3 of Johnson, MGW and Lingard/Scarpa.

Either that or MGW as a 10 and Johnson and Surridge in front. That’s usually the formation that finishes a game but Cooper could start with it.
Ah, didn't realize. Makes sense. I'd probably start Lingard or Scarpa if Maguire is playing and Surridge if they aren't.

You need to rotate and I think you are over dramatising things a little. Maguire /Lindelof formed a pair two years ago when we finished second, with an average of 1 goal conceded per match if I’m not mistaken. That was with the big leaking hole McFred in midfield and not like today with super midfielder Casemiro shielding the back line. Today Martinez average 1.7 goals conceded per game as a reference. They are good enough for rotation.
Not sure what I said could be described as over dramatising it to be honest. Maguire and Lindelof have made a lot of errors, and that midfield has been penetrated on many occasions. I didn't call it a shit team, I just think it isn't a team for a cup semi, even if it is against forest.

Ok got you and sorry, maybe it was me who over dramatised things :) I’m just sick and tired of people who don’t think we should rotate because they have the belief that our bench is crap.

Haha, fair play mate. Got to be rotation at some point for sure, particularly Eriksen I think in this match. The Reading match should be prime time for big rotation.

Personally I’m not a fan of big rotations as that means the bench players get to play in a bit non functional team built up from players who rarely play. I prefer constant rotation, use all subs allowed, and then start the absolute best xi only when needed. But yes, a game like Reading is an exception and why not make a massive rotation in that game.
Our players look tired and we’re only halfway through the season.

I got that line up except Antony for Elanga.

Time to give Eriksen some rest indeed.

A few changes but not too many. We can make a raft of them for the Reading game at the weekend.

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka - Varane - Martinez - Malacia

    Casemiro - Fred

    Rashford - B.Fernandes - Garnacho

    Weghorst

Subs: Heaton, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, McTominay, Eriksen, Antony, Elanga, Pellistri

    Nottingham Forest 1-2 Manchester United

Yeah but maybe we could get a day where it just clicks?
Last time we played them at their place we scored 8.

Mad how we hadn't faced them in almost 24 years and then all of a sudden there are 4 meetings in 100 days.

Last time you played us at our place we had a fookin bell end manager called Ron Atkinson. He would be head and shoulders, the worst manager in our history if he wasn’t replaced by David plantpot Platt! You lot have no idea what abject misery football can be!!!

Think we'll make a 2-4 changes from the weekend and then fully rotate for the Reading game then do an almost full strength for the second leg. Give the squad players a lot of game time but give the first XI enough to still be sharp.

Having Reading on the weekend definitely benefits us here in that it allows us to play our strongest XI and then give them a rest before going into the 2nd leg.

Imo ETH would rest Eriksen and Rashford. They'll be likely to sit deep and counter against us so imo Weghorst will start. We'll have the better share of possession but they'll be hard to break. Weghorst might be more useful than Rashford up top. If we need a goal or so then bring Rashford and Eriksen on the second half.

Strongest 11 here. Let’s try and put the game to bed early. Can rotate against reading and then in the 2nd leg if we’re comfortable on aggregate then we can rest players again and keep them fresh for the league.

    AWB
    Maguire
    Martinez
    Shaw

    Casemiro
    Fred

    Antony
    Bruno
    Garnacho

Reckon Lindelof, Fred and Garnacho will start. Given it's a semifinal after all maybe ETH will prioritize this and shuffle more on Saturday.

Hey he also coached us, though his replacement didn't pan out to be too bad innit?

Tell you what - we’ll swap you Jlingz for a couple of seasons in league 1 and a 6 nil stuffing by the likes of Oldham - oh wait……

I mean out of decency we should first check with Kane if he isn't doing anything else already at the time, like watching telly or cooking spaghetti for the missus. Other than that I'm sure he'd be on board for a moonlight gig

Forrest is two legs - I'd play the reserves in the first tie. Worst case scenario we can turn it around at OT.
I wouldn't underestimate Forest. They'll beat our reserves and then we're up against it. I'd rest anybody who needs it but the entire first 11 shouldn't be shattered.

Nah - I meant we’ve done our part of the swap by taking him - see how you like league 1! To be fair I’d keep Lingard next year as well. He’s a good lad to have round the place and well liked in the squad.

More than happy for you lot to field Kane. He didn’t get a kick when we knocked Spurs out. He got subbed off on 60mins after being in Boly‘s pocket first half.

Would be happy enough with a draw here. Forest crowd will be up for it, they're strong at home and even when in the Championship they've had recent success against top sides.

Full strength and anyone needing a rest can have it against Reading.

Definitely full strength tonight, we can rotate at the weekend especially if the likes of Sancho and Martial are back and depending on the score the second leg also.

A Garnacho-Rashford-Pellestri attack would excite me, I know it wont happen.

ETH will play a very strong team tonight, Fred in for Erikson is the only change i hope he makes.
we loose some creativity but gain a lot more energy and Erikson needs a rest.

Full strength team tonight plus Fred, then bring in the likes of Eriksen, Garnacho, Malacia, maybe Dalot if he's fit, for Reading.

It's been just another false dawn before we turn to shit again and blow this cup, the FA Cup and also blow top 4 too for good measure.

    2-0 to Forest.

Dressing room unrest to follow. Same same same :boring:
