    Full strength... honestly.

Full rotation, park the bus, see out a 0-0 and then full strength in the home leg, when we'll be 5 up by half time and can then make subs to rotate.

I hope Wout gets one more chance to start before definitively becoming a sub. I want him to score so badly.

A win would be perfect. I would take a draw knowing the other leg is at home.

Anyway, we have the players to win this game. Just don t concede a silly goal, on corner where De Gea doesnt jump, after 5 mins.

Rest Varane, otherwise, same team as Palace.

    Then rotate this weekend

    De Gea

    AWB
    Maguire
    Martinez
    Shaw

    Casemiro
    Eriksen

    Antony
    Bruno
    Rashford

    Wout

The only other option today is Rashford up top (or playing without a striker, aka Bruno as a false 9 type of thing)

I wouldn't underestimate Forest, they'll be well up for this tonight and the atmosphere will be electric.

Pick as strong a team as we can hopefully get an early goal to quieten the crowd and win 0-2.

McFred have to start this one. Fresh legs, keeps them match fit etc.

Can see Casemiro/Fred being the two in midfield... Garnacho starting on the left and Rashy on the right too.

We cough most of our chances up from crosses - we are decent at dealing with them but a good centre forward will get a couple of good chances in the box.

Other then that, Garnacho running at Worrall for the last 30mins, (especially as Yates has had a virus and isn’t 100%) is a scary prospect.

It's been just another false dawn before we turn to shit again and blow this cup, the FA Cup and also blow top 4 too for good measure.

    2-0 to Forest.

Dressing room unrest to follow. Same same same :boring:
Blimey you are making me look positive

do other teams fans' worry about resting players the same way we do? it said in commentary last night, Newcastle had kept the same team for the past 4 games on the bounce.

Varane, Shaw, Eriksen, Rashford should be rested today. The rest should be strongest 11 IMO (as the rest have been rotated often/rested last week midweek or aren't necessarily guaranteed starters anyway). Lindelof of Maguire next to Martinez, Malacia in, Fred and Garnacho in. Rest as is.

Casemiro can be rested vs Reading but start him or course the semi final games.

Other teams don't have as many games to play as we do this season

Do Newcastle have less games than us this season?
Newcastle are playing like 20 games fewer than us this season. But yes, this place has an unhealthy obsession with resting players. Rest this guy, rest that guy, rest every single player every fecking game. It's seriously more tiring reading about players needing a rest than the players actually are tiring from playing games.

If the caf was given the chance to choose a team for the CL final they'd pick the 11 players in the squad who have played the least football because everyone else needs a rest.

Why would you rest your best CB and best forward in a semi final away match ? Start the strongest team ffs.

They've all played too much FM, where that little bar gives you an actual visual representation of how tired/fit a player is at any given moment.

Real life doesn't work like that though.

Besides, I think the biggest worry is actually mental fatigue; having only a day or two to prepare for each game, little time to focus on other aspects of your life... We all feel a bit burnt out if we don't have balance in our lives. Sitting on the bench for half a game won't help with that. It's why some countries have an actual winter break!

It's not exactly the same, but they must still start to feel jaded at a certain point. I know I fecking do from having to find the time to watch all of our matches!

Antony and McTominay should both be getting dropped. Pellistri for Antony, and Casemiro for McTominay. Eriksen and Rashford should be rested. Other than that, strongest options. There are just so many games coming up, it’s lunacy. And this is our third away game in a row.

Hard to feel optimistic after the performances in the last two games, we are just so poor away, but we should still be beating these. Forest 0:1 Manchester United.

No time for resting here boysss…. Need to get to this final!! Full strength team. We can rest against reading. A trophy is important for the progress of the team to give us a massive boost for more success.

Because it's Nottingham forest, it's the first leg, and we still have a very good team to put around them. Its important to rest players now and then so they don't get fecked with injuries in more important games. Rashford will likely start which is fine but Eriksen and Varane have no business starting this with Varane's injury record and Eriksen looking tired lately (and having adequate depth). Same with Shaw. Just put Malacia in his place, plenty of quality.

It all comes from the fear of the fans that if Rashford, Casemiro, Bruno, Varane, Martinez or Shaw get injured we are in big trouble, which is not far from the truth, but a player can get injured in training anytime or whenever he plays.

We can't just put the players on a pedestal and look at them through a window.

I blame the last 10 years for the current wafer thin optimism around the Cafe…the squad has let us down so many times.

But this is not the same team and EtH will have everyone up for the match tonight.

Expecting a win and 2 goal advantage.

It's still an away match and playing them away since many years and is a semi final. Opposition doesn't matter.

Players can be rested against Reading.

Ideally we go full strength today so we can rotate against Reading and in the return leg at Old Trafford.

I mean, you say that, but the last two games we've ended up conceding sloppy late goals due to fatigue/lack of intensity in closing minutes of games. It's pretty obvious our squad is limited once you get past our first choice XI, and the drop off has been demonstrated regularly this season. I completely get why - during a season defining run of games - people are cautious about injuries/players burning out.

I also expect Newcastle will be impacted by this eventually, and more often than not, the teams who are most successful over the course of a season are those who can maintain the best level of fitness. Leicester, Liverpool, City and Arsenal this time around are proving this.

Is plenty good enough for this game. We won't lose with this team here. It's the league Cup, there is a home leg to come if we need to go full strength then. Players should be rested vs Reading too. We had a very tough previous week and things will get tough if we don't rotate when we get the chance to. Not full rotation, but a few players here, a few vs Reading, a few next midweek so we are full strength come the league games and Barca.

We need to win this cup to end this horrible trophy drought period ASAP and Nottingham Forest are a Premier League side; not a team from 3rd division. Underestimate them and you’ll have to play your strongest XI & turn a 2-0 deficit at OT which is not ideal.

Don’t be obsessed with resting players; play a strong team tonight, get yourself in a comfortable position (early if possible) and move on to Reading game. Hopefully we’ll be able to kill the game early tonight.

We've got to rest our starters in this one. Our back-ups like Maguire and Lindelof need to build up their match fitness, too. With the 5-sub rule, we can bring on the big guns in the 2nd half if we need to chase the game.
