    Yeah, it’s not happening.

I feel a bit sorry for views like you've got. Yeah, 49 times out of 50 it won't happen but 49 times out of 50 we wouldn't win a CL final with two goals in injury time ! It's not like we are 5-0 down, 2-0 is retrievable - just - and over the years we have been defined by such results and drama against the odds. Sheffield Wednesday to get that first PL, Arsenal to stay on course for the treble and of course Bayern.

I'm not saying it will happen but I'm certainly not giving up on it.

Of course supporters have to be optimistic, that's normal.

But for the record, Verratti was benched during the game against Caen and Marquinhos wasn't in the midfield (replaced by Alves, who isn't great when he plays there) ;)
Yes, I know, and the logic says that PSG will win this game quite easily. But it's also easy to forget that the logic is not always correct, surprisingly often something happens that we did not expect. So it's not just optimism but also another description of a reality that actually exists. ;)

I'm looking forward to this. We have to attack them at some point and although we are missing 10 players, it gives us a chance to keep playing youth

I remember the Gakatasary game in 94 where we had to play a team a youngsters and ended up winning 4-0. Could be a chance for something similar ;-)

I don't think a diamond will work with their attacking full backs, so 433 is my preference

    De Gea
    Dalot*, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw

    Perreira, McTom, Fred

    Lukaku, Rashford, Chong

    Subs
Romero, Bailley, Young, Rojo, Garner, Gomes, Greenwood

The last 3 subs to come on please

    * appreciate that Young is currently better defensively, but I'm getting a bit sick of his tendency to long ball it, particularly as Captain where he should set an example. Dalot was cracking v the Saints and although he played on the wing, we need to be aggressive

Yeah what we need is a win with 2 goals which is far from impossible. An early goal could really change the game. Our lack of options up front can be a big problem though. We need guys like Fred to step up and perform going forward to win this one.

I admire your optimism but we have too many players missing.

Great post to be fair. We’re doing this. 3-0 United.

I would take your words if we have the same squad of the first leg, but sorry not with this midfield.

Why does anyone think OGS would play second team? He has winning mentality and belief. He will field the 100% strongest team.

Because our strongest team is basically our second team due to injuries and Pogba suspension :(

Oh sorry I was thinking about the Ole interview. Yes thanks for CL.
Right. To answer your question, your TV provider must carry NBC and then you login and authenticate with an email account from said provider.

Yes I figured, I found it on the app replay and watching it now. It's a joy.

A midfield of Fred, Scott and Andreas. With Shaw and Dalot as wingbacks, Rom and Marcus up front and Bailly,Lindelof and Smalling as the 3 CB's is the way to go, I think.

This game is basically a write off. Regardless of our form, I see absolutely no way back for us. We HAVE to win 2-0 and take it to ET/Pens. That’s the only option. We have to score the first in the opening 10 minutes and then hopefully kick on from there.

    GK De Gea
RB Dalot - Young was shown up in the last game. Couldn’t hack the pace and looked like he didn’t belong out there.
CB Smalling - While I’m not his biggest fan, he’s looked solid recently and Bailly didn’t look composed in the last leg. I imagine he would deal with Cavani better than our other CB’s (if he plays)
CB Lindelöf - Our best CB this season without question.
    LB Shaw

CDM McTominay - There’s question marks over this but he surprised me against Liverpool and he looks more “up for it” than Matic these days. Matic was extremely slow and plodding against PSG. Scotty McT will hopefully bring some energy and mobility to the role.
CM Pereira - That goal against Southampton won me over  More of that please.
CM Fred - Time to step up now. Herrera and Matic are out so we need creativity and goals.

    RW Rashford
ST Lukaku - Need a big performance from him. Has to play down the middle for most of the game for me. Whip a few crosses into him and hopefully he can get on the end of 2. If it’s not working, swap with Rashford.
LW This is where it gets tricky. Martial is a no brainer if fit. Sanchez and Lingard are injured. Mata is not quick enough. Chong and Gomes are starving for a game... it’s got to be Martial if he can play. If not, put Bailly at RB and Dalot RW. Move Rashford to LW. Sorted.

    De Gea
    Dalot Smalling Lindelöf Shaw
    McTominay
    Fred Pereira
    Rashford Lukaku Martial

    De Gea
    Bailly Smalling Lindelöf Shaw
    McTominay
    Fred Pereira
    Dalot Lukaku Rashford

Why is everyone playing 5atb? That’s not attacking enough for me. We need goals.

Pretty much picks itself from the fit players.

    De Gea
    Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Mctom
    Dalot Pereira Fred Rashford
    Lukaku

Will be flexible between 4-1-4-1 and 4-3-3 I think.

The only other senior player that is fit to play is Bailly. First goal could be massive. We need to fly out of the blocks and score in the first 30 mins to have a realistic chance IMO.

Not remotely stress about this tbh, I've mentally accepted we're out after the 2-0 defeat at home; moved on.

The Arsenal match is massive, could be season defining.

Just read a story about Ole's upbeat mood before the CL game on the Manchester United App. It states that United need to win by 3 clear goals to progress.

Wouldn't 1:3 be enough? Or do away goals not count now?
1-3 will have us through. But 0-2 is also enough for a penalty shoot-out, and in this situation penalty shoot-out is not a bad outcome at all

With out injuries/pogba banned a win will be a miracle.

I just hope we can come out with our heads held high, and not damage morale for the Arsenal game.

Enjoy the game, stay organised, work hard, and give a thoroughly Man United performance. We will be ok for Arsenal.

Be a good experience for some of our players. If they can't learn to deal with games and experiences like this, then they are at the wrong club.

Ole is absolutely right, we have nothing to lose, and we must carry a threat throughout the game. But it would be silly not to have concerns about the exposure our midfield may suffer from. But that's a squad issue, and nowt can be done about that.

Let's back the team and enjoy the ride! :)

Seen this opinion a lot around here and it doesn't make sense. PSG scored both their goals against us in a matter of 5-6 mins. We had scored our 2 against Juve in a space of 4 mins. The aim should be to stay in the tie as long as possible. 0-0 at HT isn't bad. If its still the same after 65-70 mins then its time to throw the kitchen sink. We have to remember one goal is enough to make PSG start sweating and uncomfortable, so the most important thing in this game is not to concede early (ideally not concede at all) and then take it from there. It would be foolish to come flying out of the blocks and concede on the counter.

Because a back 5 (or 3) or a back 4 has little to do with how attacking you are. See the second half against Southampton.

Fred, Mctominay and Pereira in midfield 3, God helps.
if it's 4-3-3 like 1st half of the last game we're absolutely getting hammered defensively. McT and Periera can't defend and needed pogba to step in at DM before we could turn the game around. We must have solid base in our double pivot with McT and Fred slotting next to him , Periera at number 10.

    ddg
    Young Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    McT Fred
    Dalot Periera Rashford
    Lukaku

    Or
    DDG
    Bailly Smalling Lindelof
    Dalot McTom Fred Shaw
    Periera
    Lukaku Rashford

same shape we ended the last game except Bailly in at RCB.

Hmm maybe you're right. I think if we get an early goal we have a really good chance though. I feel at some point we will have to get at them, so for me I'd rather try to rattle them early on. I also think they will score at least one so we will need to score 3 which makes an early goal important.

It's not over until the fat lady sings though so you do have a point.

I think we will go with:

    ............ DDG
    . Young Smalling Lindelof
    Dalot McTominay Fred Shaw
    ........... Pereira
    ..... Lukaku Rashford

It offers quite a lot of tactical flexibility to adapt to the game and worked well against Southampton. Maybe Young misses out for another recognised centre back - Rojo is best in a back three but only just coming back - or maybe Dalot does and Young is at wing back.

Incredibly tough game for many reasons

    Superior opponents
    Critical away goals
One of the best sides in world football at timewasting, playing the ref and seeing out games when ahead
    Our injuries
Our playing experience in the CL as a squad

Ole will go for it and it does risk a heavy beating to be honest, if they play like they did at OT and we’re throwing everyone forward then it will be undoubtedly a high scoring game. We would need to score first and early to stand a chance

Our midfield 3 couldn’t get near the team a few weeks ago and now are expected to overrun PSG on their turf. Dangerous

I think we should go with 3 at the back. We seem to some leeway in the CB department and PSG did cut us open couple of times with ease.

Wow, we really are down to the bare bones, I wonder whether Martial will be ready.

No idea who to put as subs, only youth prospects available. If there are no more injuries, maybe we won't bring any on, unless we go 4 up
    Martial is out

Imagine if we manage to beat PSG away with a midfield 3 of Fred, McTominay and Pereira... Really would prove that Ole is a miracle worker! I'm not really expecting much, but I'm still excited for this, how can you not get excited for a big Champions League game!
