I think most people expect them to get through, but If De Gea has one of those games, and Pereira can hit one like yesterday, who knows. I would love to see us score and put pressure on them, even if we do go out. Some players will learn a lot from this match.
I think that's the way OGS has to look at it. The main battle for United right now should be to maintain that top 4 finish which is already a tremendous achievement for him given the shape United was in when he took over. I would put some young players along with some veterans and give them the experience of a heated European night where there isn't as much pressure to win because as you say, most expect PSG to go through anyways.

We will need a miracle here but if anyone can do it - it's United.

    Believe.

I haven't a single arrogant statement from PSG after the first game. And if someone does say something, i highly doubt Tuchel, Buffon or Alves would let that fly.
It's not so much what the manager, or senior players say, it's how some players feel. I would certainly not expect PSG to come out with arrogant statements, far from it.

They sort of did after Barcelona, posting pictures (Rabiot and Kurzawa) on instagram laughing and showing "4-0". But none of them is a starter anymore. They didn't take the game seriously enough (even if we got robbed by the ref but that's another story). Fortunately, we have new players now that can keep controle of the locker room and a coach that gained the respect of the players. I do hope that i never have to re-live this humiliation. It's possible to loose against Man Utd next week but at least if we do, it can't be because we didn't take the game seriously.

Our midfield will likely get destroyed, really difficult to see us getting anything from the game, let alone win by 2 goals.

I'm a United fan, so I have to believe that miracles do happen occasionally. Realistically all I want to see is a team that does their best to go forward and try to score goals, and if, as most people expect, PSG are several goals up, bring on a couple of the youngsters to get them some experience. I live in hope more than expectation, but quite a few posters on here are absolutely certain that PSG will slaughter us. Nothing is certain in football.

Just avoid injuries and maybe even take a few off early for Arsenal if the comeback looks dead(er).

You have to be more optimistic, at least until the opposite has been proven.

In PSG's recent match against Caen, which is in place 18 in Ligue 1, they released a goal but won thanks to a penalty and a late goal in the 87 minutes.

More strange things than that MU could beat them have happened, we certainly need a little luck but it's not impossible.

Tactics, human psychology and coincidences can be of great importance, so chances are always there.

We are united, I am sure Ole will charge the team and make them know what does it mean to play for united, they must go out and show why the deserve to wear the shirt. If any chance for any player to prove himself, it is this game.

I would play youngsters in this one Gomes and Garner could slot in, this game is a free hit really.

Depends how good the kids are.
Welll the original bunch of kids won a title over an entire season, we are asking this lot to win one football match 2-0 and then stick the ball in the net from 12 yards.

We need 3 goals first. Yeah it's tough, but United is United because of this magic and the mental strength. The mental strength will play a big role for this game.

I'd like us to do a Roma, even away, because we seem to play more relaxed away anyway.

That's one of the issues as well. With SAF we knew that there is not such thing as impossible. Unfortunately I am not sure we have that character and mental strength in our current team.

    Yeah, it’s not happening.
Let us worry about that not happening after the game. Until the game, the boys need to be over motivated and hungry for the ball to get past Buffon. That's the only thing to think about until Wed night.

Just really hope ole doesn't field a strong squad. They got Arsenal in 4 days later. That's the priority. United just aren't going to win the CL. Why put the extra strain on the squad? It's already stretched thin as it is. Imagine FA cup, CL and the PL. United don't exactly have great replacements if one player gets injured. It's unecessary. Is this squad gonna beat Barcelona? Hell no.

Of course supporters have to be optimistic, that's normal.

But for the record, Verratti was benched during the game against Caen and Marquinhos wasn't in the midfield (replaced by Alves, who isn't great when he plays there) ;)

I’m amazed that people think we should play kids in this. A heavy defeat could ruin them.

Play the best team available and see what happens.

This is Ole's real test. If he wants the job he must conjure up a win and qualification somehow. And if he does, well then he just needs to bring it home.

Need a Lukaku hattrick :). Not sure how we should get the service. Shaw need to attack a lot and hopefully Lingard or Martial can play this one.
We need Lukaku to do something special, but I feel that cannot score goals against top sides.
There is a major project going on in France, called ITER. They are trying to create a mini-Sun, on this planet, to supply us with unlimited energy. Creating a Sun on Earth is more likely than Lukaku scoring a hat-trick against PSG.

IMO, we should use this game to give youngsters an opportunity. I honestly can't see how we can win this match.

My prediction: 3-1 to the home side.

That's a good point you make. But if youngsters get to play against PSG, at least they will know the standard which they need to aspire to. It'll be a match for them to play without any pressure.

I say let Lukaku have a go at Kimpembe and Silva as he did alright when he came on and given Dembele gave those two the run around and got stuck in about them wonder how they’d do against a unit like Lukaku.
Be great if they decided to play nipple in goal, that would really help us out.

I thought technically they have already done this they just can’t make one which is sustainable. So Lukaku hatrick might be possible

I' m not bothered if we get hammered at psg, everyone knows we are still rebuilding and its far better to re group and complete the top 4 in the league and be strong in the fa cup.

I really don't know how we can even win this, never mind overcome this deficit. PSG has 2 away goals and we couldn't even score at home. We basically need to score 3 if they score 1. I think if we can get an early goal, and keep our defence tight, who knows? I believe in miracles and if Ole does overcome this PSG team, I'd say it has to be United's greatest comeback considering our circumstances/odds stacked against us and the huge gulf in gap of both teams' quality. And of course he deserves the gig permanently. Even if we lose, I hope we put up a fight and lose respectably.

Dont see it, think we will get outclassed with ease. An easy 2 or 3-0 for PSG. We are not on their level currently, with injuries or not. We barely could hold onto the ball against Saints at home at times. But valuable experience and hopefully another step closer if we learn from it.

This is a strange one because, realistically we are fecked in this tie, so logically we would rest all our important players and concentrate on trying to get top four. But of course we can’t do that.
