Open to correction 8 changes Sevilla have made tonight. Is tonight closer to their first choice team or are resting starters for Thursday?
It's sort of a mixture I'd say. En Nesyri, their best striker is in the starting lineup, so is Navas, but Torres and Rakitic are not. Nor is Lamela. Also, it's Dmitrovic who is GK
It's a huge game for them. A win would be a major boost for Thursday, if they lose they'll be in pretty uncomfortable situation.

Our bench will be pretty damn thin for this one. Assuming the following XI start:

    DDG

    AWB - - - Maguire - - - Lindelöf - - - Dalot

    Casemiro - - - Eriksen
    Fred

    Antony - - - - - - - - - - - Sancho

    Martial
...and Shaw, McTominay, Malacia & Sabitzer are out, we've basically got WW, Elanga & Pellistri out of senior players to bring in. All forwards. Massive pressure for our starters to get the job done.
Yes. We do not want extra time and penalties on Thursday considering the amount of important games ahead and low quality bench options.

Would love 2 big semi final ties to keep the season going, and would hate to go out to such a poor team. Plenty of absences, wouldn't be surprised to see martial only start 1 of next 2

    De gea
    Awb
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Dalot
    Casemiro
    Fred
    Eriksen
    Antony
    Martial
    Sancho

I want us to win this game so so badly. Probably more so than I normally would any Europa tie as I'm sick to the back teeth of this jammy Spanish side. It's time to break the curse.

So incredibly frustrating that we gifted them parity going into the 2nd leg. They were utterly awful for the first hour or so.

We should be too good for them but it's Sevilla, in Sevilla, in the Europa League.

Do they not reset from semi final onwards? Thought they did.
They do reset but you still have to serve a suspension if you pick up a second booking in the quarter-final second leg. But if Casemiro avoids a booking on Thursday, his cards will be wiped.

    Out:

    Bruno (Suspended)
    Varane
    Garnacho
    Van de Beek
    Martinez

    Doubtful:

    McTominay
    Shaw
    Rashford
    Sabitzer
    Malacia

I believe McTominay and Shaw trained with the team for 1-2 sessions so far, you'd expect they could be in the squad for Thursday which would be a boost. Malacia's knock to his knee doesn't sound that bad, but I'd still guess he's a 50/50. Sabitzer I think will be out, tweak to the groin is something we'd be careful with. As for Rashford, EtH sounded more optimistic recently, but I think he'll play against Brighton and not here.

Personally, I think we should start with a CB pairing of Lindelof and Shaw if we can, as we will be forced to go with that pairing against Brighton and I'd rather have used it at least once before! But I can understand if Maguire starts.

Sevilla are well versed in the dark arts and i won’t be surprised if they target some of our players through provocation

We need to be ruthless for this and Casemiro needs to keep his cool as we can’t afford going down to 10 men

They will cry, cheat, fall down, basically shithouse at every single opportunity. Then score a jammy goal and that will be it.

ETH will play the same team that started today except it will be Fred for Bruno if Sabitzer is not fit.

Strangely, Utds season could be over by this time next week.
    League Cup won
    Out of Europa
    Out of FA cup
    Top 4 almost done.

    Hope I’m wrong!

And now Valencia given a penalty and the ref changes his mind when viewing it on the screen. A red card for Valencia as i type.

In 2018 Sevilla beat us deservedly. 2020 EL semis - we missed few sitters in that game and lost. Last Thursday - it was 3 days ago, no explanation needed. Can’t catch a break against these.

    That's the spirit

We could be through to the semi finals of the Europa and on our way to another final at Wembley.

Which one would you prefer if it only had to be one of those two competitions where we progress?

Go through in Fa Cup - only one final game left to be played early June; but we’ve already won one domestic trophy this season

Go through in Europa - 2 more SF games in early May (would make it even busier month), but would mean possibly European trophy and us in Pot 1 for next season CL draw.

Both about equal in those regards.

But the fact the FA Cup Final would be against Man City - where we'd be big underdogs - means, out of the two, I'd choose going through in the Europa League where we wouldn't have to beat the same calibre of opposition in order to win it.

Though, with our current injury issues, beating Sevilla away and / or Brighton at Wembley within 3 days would be great efforts from the players.

Usual knockout cup game nerves about this one, and it would be especially hurtful if we go out with the way the first leg went.

Not sure if anyone will be back in time. Probably McTominay and Shaw the most likely. But I think we'll only use Shaw as a sub at most as we really need him for Brighton with Maguire's suspension.

With limited options, I think it'll be the same team as today with just Bruno's replacement to be between Sabitzer or Fred.

    De Gea

    AWB
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Dalot

    Casemiro
    Eriksen

    Antony
    Sabitzer / Fred
    Sancho

    Martial

Like was the case with home game vs Barca that came 3 days before CC final game, playing extra time would be the worst with Brighton game on Sunday. So a repeat of Barca would be awesome.

Last time United drew the 1st leg at home 2-2 and still won the tie was against Porto in 2009?

I use to dread these trips to Spain as United had an awful record there. Better results in Spain since the trimming off Barcelona 4 years ago and hopefully it continues that way on Thursday.

    V Betis 0-1
    V Barcelona 2-2
    V Sociedad 0-1
    V Atletico Madrid 1-1
    V Villarreal 0-2
    V Granada 0-2

We have our best midfield combination firing on all cylinders again and it gives me encouraging signs for the 2nd leg. It gives the defence better protection for a very tough away leg and constructs the blunt attack we have a bit better. With Martial getting more minutes in his legs I'm optimistic about scoring there, even if we do have Sancho in the team :houllier:. I'm also hoping that Sabitzer was only a precaution because he could be a very effective sub to bring on.

Bruno is going to be a huge miss. Hopefully Sabitzer's injury isn't too severe, all on Eriksen to create for us.
Yeah Bruno has looked back to his Jan 2020 form playing in that deeper role last couple of games. Really hoping Sabitzer pulling out of warm up was just precautionary

Sevilla were utterly poor last Thursday at Old Trafford.

Except one free kick from Rakitic, one or two set pieces, Jesus Navas crosses they were not that impressive.

We played our game for 35 minutes and could have won 3-0 easily.

It's ours to win this game. Won't be easy but we can do it.

Issue is that the bench will be light if we don't have one or two guys back (Wout, Elanga, Pellistri)

They won the six-pointer at Valencia yesterday 2-0. They steered eight points clear off the relegation zone and they left the Ches struggling at the bottom. It wouldn't surprise me, if they went on to win the damn thing again.

Watched the game with Valencia last night, Valencia are utter garbage and they beat them 2-0. Courtesy of some dodgy VAR use on the first goal and also denying Valencia a penalty for handball. It was a shite match, very low on quality.
    .
Should be beating these, they aren't really that good, what happened on Thursday shouldn't happen again, went 2-0 up and lost all momentum with the subs and allowed them to shithouse there way back into the game.

They'll be rolling around, time wasting and play acting from minute one. Get an early goal and then play them at their own game.
