Now that Klopp and Lallana showed how to nullify Carrick's influence, I wonder if other teams will try it.
    Exactly what I was thinking.

It was a bit what Rooney was asked to do on Busquets, or Park on Pirlo long times ago. I really think that the solution should come from behind and having a proper first pass.

I'm amazed how Jones and Rojo are poor in distribution. We saw against Pool that when Carrick was man marked by Lallana, Rojo and Jones panicked when they were pressed. And it's why they played th De Gea that much.

Then I really think that we should maybe play Herrera deeper to get this first pass (with Carrick playing out of position to take one or two other players and break the first line)

Can we start Mata? I'd like that.... though I reckon he'll go for Lingard/Fellaini (or both)

In other news, I had no idea their stadium was called the Bet365 stadium.

Eh? When did this nonsense happen! I think I'll stick to calling it the Britannia..

Carrick should come back in. We cant let ONE game against a decent opposition with a specific style of play to make us abandon our winning formula.

It would be a huge mistake to drop him. The stats with/without Carrick speak for themselves.

We were the only team who didn't struggle with Stoke until Ferguson retired. Since then we haven't won there. We are surely due a win now.

It should be the same line up as against Liverpool other than Blind in for Darmian. I doubt that's what we will see though.

We won 2-0 there under Moyes in the League Cup I believe, I remember it raining incredibly hard and our fans were chanting non stop all game. That was the last of our 13 game unbeaten run against them too (12W, 1D), since then we've won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2.

Just read Crouch is on 99 Premier League goals so that's a lock he'll get the 100th on Saturday and do the Robot.

Just 100? Thought he'd have more than that. He's been around since I can remember.

Make sure Pogba know what he's doing at set pieces!!

Should be a good game, but should be comfortable really. Away to Stoke is not the daunting prospect it used to be.

Agree with this. Liverpool had the players who are capable to man mark Carrick, while Stoke might don't have the players to do such a job. To be honest though, we were better in first half against Liverpool than in second half before Fellaini came on. Carrick will give more balanced in midfield for sure and provide more freedom for Herrera and Pogba. Same trio Carrick Herrera Pogba.

We have been playing better away from home this season. I think only Chelsea have more ppg away than us. I expect us to start with the same 11 that played against Liverpool. We need to get back to winning ways to keep our momentum going. Hoping for a solid 0-2 away win.

For those of us that have never been to Stoke's home ground, what's the game atmosphere like?

This fixture broke me under Van Gaal. It'll be a tough game but I think things have changed at both clubs since then: them for the worse, us for the better.

A win could finally move us up the table, we need to take the opportunity.

It use to be very good, particularly against the big teams. Recent times they have been on TV, it has not sounded too good. They perform best when their team are the underdogs.

They don't particularly like United, so it will be hostile from a fans point of view.

Always hate the fixture. even when we came here under Saf. Stoke and Sunderland away are so difficult for us at times.

Hate this fixture. Just get a deflected own-goal in the 87th minute and get out of there.

Probably the biggest banana skin from our upcoming winnable fixtures.

We need to be on our game here.

Their record against teams in the top six has been shocking this season, home and away. In fact I think the only one they've taken points from is us.

From personal magic ball 8: Stoke playing as tight as usual and aiming at 0-0 but they will somewhat score luckily and then settle for a very nervous draw. 1-1 to me.
