I suppose I was the most annoyed and frustrated after the Wolfsburg game. It also basically confirmed for me that van Gaal's days are numbered and since I'm almost always hopeful regarding United, I think it can only get better once he's gone. Every good result from now on will be a pleasant surprise and if not it brings us closer to a better manager IMO.
Only time will tell. They'll either cut the cord this week or he'll be here until top 4 is mathematically impossible is what Id say. But yea, any positive results now are a bonus. What has happened to us lol!

This is actually the first game in which I'm fully pessimistic on. Over the last few games, despite playing shit previously, I've thought "nah, we should win as long as half of the team turns up" - but that just doesn't seem to be happening.

Best outcome for us will be a draw at the moment and it really pains me to think like that. Not even under Moyes did I think we'd struggle in games like these.

A final for LVG 2 days before the Chelsea game..... What can he does ? Usually you have to use your full squad in order to play 2 games in 48 hours... But in our situation are we good/confident/stable enough to go with a light squad at Stoke ??? Even if we all want LVG to be out, we have to win, and just imagine that we sack LVG just after the Stoke game ? We won't be able to recover mentally before Chelsea. So if LVG is not sacked by tonight, he will manage the two games at least. And if it's still the same situation then, we can be sure that there will be few changes and he will try to play his "supposed" best XI

He could turn up completely drunk, unable to walk in a straight line and LVG will put him into our team, while putting our more committed players on the bench.

We will adjust our tactics for this one, surely lvg is not that stubborn? Lose this and he's gone imo.

    Adjusting tactics would be logical.
However, I believe that LVG is so stubborn that he will do exactly as he did in all our games. His philosophy demands this.

    Anyone recognize this LvG team?

Same possession style but the movement is impeccable.
    All I can think is,

    What happened to that Young
    Herrera can play a bit
    Chicharito could have useful now
Did we get the most out of Kagawa

    And

Rooney, stop playing too deep, your diagonal passes to right to Valencia ain't that impressive anymore. :D

It can't be stated enough that losing Shaw has really done our season harm. I think we could have lost any other player for the season barring DDG and Smalling and been okay.

Rooney will probably be the only one played in his "proper" position, (even though hes not a good number 9 nor a good number 10). everybody else will be moved around for him, then the pundits will blame the others for not running for him which is causing him to drop into midfield and not be an outlet.

    Or something.

Its a struggle to see where our next win will come from, which is an odd thing to say as a United fan.

He has already said multiple times this season that he wont be changing his philosophy. He said that after the WHU game too, as he said it had given him success in the past.
There you have it. You cannot rigidly adhere to a 'philosophy' in this modern era. Repeating the same errors whilst expecting a different result is barmy.

FFS - this was pre-season against a bunch of NFL wannabees or has beens (or whatever that Yankee league is called this year) - there are lots of reasonable yardsticks to measure our current (crappy) performances against but this ain't one...

Losing Rooney might have been more than Okay!

The point is, our players do actually have brains and are capable of being creative as per the one touch football highlighted in the video. We're capable of playing well it's just the instructions and the lack of risk in our team, lack of confidence and essentially the unwillingness to change shape.

LA Galaxy, Liverpool, Inter, Roma and Madrid, I'm not trying to justify the importance but they are hardly shit teams.

my mistake....Stoke did score to go 4-0 up against Arsenal last season, and goal was wrongly disallowed (think thats why that stuck in my mind).

    they scored just 3
oh yeah I remember that match last season. arsenal nearly drew that match too.
