    Mourinho on managing United
“For me it’s an honour and a pleasure and a continuation of my career. I’v worked at some of the biggest clubs in the world in different countries, which makes me even richer from a football point of view. I’m enjoying.”

We really need to win this. That's all I'm hoping for.. if we do we can kick on to the quarter final and take care of business there.

John O'Shea's father Jim has passed away, and Sheasy will stay home in Ireland this weekend. All the best to the O'Shea family. :(

Having struggled and been soundly beaten by most teams this season, it would be a sad indictment on United if Sunderland get anything out of this game. We really need to win this and comfortably too.

Why are we playing on a Sunday before a European game? I know the game is on Thursday, but every extra day off preparation counts. Without even looking at Anderlecht's schedule, I'm sure they would be playing tomorrow.

Edit: turns out they are playing on Sunday too, so my post just became a bit idiotic.

Ask the English footballing authorities, Mourinho has been questioning this all season. And not only for United, PL teams are not supported to succeed in Europe anywhere near as much as teams in other leagues.

It's funny because he said the exact opposite in 2014.
I get his theory about it means we are harder to beat, and that 5 losses might mean us losing big games, but I would still rather we had got 5 wins. Those extra points would have us right up there.

Both us and Sunderland played on Tuesday as well, whilst Spurs played on Wednesday - yet Sky have put Spurs on Saturday lunchtime and us on Sunday when we have to play again on Thursday

Hasn't this always been the case? Since the days of Busby Babes? The FA have always tried to make it difficult for teams competing in Europe. Pure 'Brexit' arrogance if you ask me..

Some of the absolute negative toads on here. Grow a pair - we will smash these, easily.
It's not like we have been drawing by holding on. We are comfortably controlling games but not putting chances away. 0-3

I don't think I could take it if we lost to Moyes. The shit he would come out with post-game "Maybe people will appreciate 7th was a good result when I was there."
I can't even bear to think about it. A blood vessel would probably pop in my head and I would end up going on a 'Falling Down' style rampage.

Sunderland haven't scored a goal since 4th Feb. Wow.
WBA hadn't kept a clean sheet since Aug 2016. They came to OT and achieved this.
With this in mind, I believe that Sunderland will score on Sunday. ;)

The problem is Mkhitaryan and Martial are under the manager's wrath since the West Brom game. I think Mourinho prefers to lose points to start players with questionable attitudes. And the same might apply to Shaw, of course.

Jose wants our attackers to score goals....as do our fans.
The fact that Martial and Miki are unable to score goals is the reason why they are suffering his wrath. The best thing they can do for their careers, is to score goals, but this is easier said than done. Martial and Miki have both been pretty bad this season and IMO, if they repeat this season again, they'll be sold. Jose does not tolerate non scoring attackers and Fergie was exactly the same.

This is a results business. The fancy, pointless dribbles which Miki and Martial perform on a weekly basis is useless to Jose and to our club. Take our last game, for instance. Ibra was the only attacker who got a goal (which was disallowed). The other goal/penalty was created by a defender. Where were our other attackers? Miki had 70 minutes (?) to make impact. He did nothing. Rashford did nothing. Lingard, nothing.

Our attackers should hang their heads in shame, when a defender (Shaw, out of shape, out of match practise) showed more attacking intent in 20 minutes than our attackers did in 70+ minutes.

We need attackers who are ruthless and put defenders, GKs and teams, to the sword. Right now, only Ibra is capable of doing this. When he has an off day, no other attacker has the ability or skill to step up.

Sure they've all missed sitters but I think our slow predictable build up is at fault too, not just the attackers.

Why do so many think Shaw will start? Did I miss something Jose said or do people think the mindgames this past week are an attempt to build him up for another chance?

Attackers are supposed to be the ones finding space and getting into dangerous areas. They're also failing in that aspect.
Attacking players are supposed to be the dynamic edge of the team, if the build up is too predictable, then they're not finding space and running the channels well enough. Standing close to your marker expecting the ball to be played into your feet is hardly going to speed up the attack.
