Haha, LvG been rotating the team all season but when there's two matches in the space of 48 hours he finally got the chance/decides to start the same eleven as last time.

Really can't remember the last time we played an unchanged side. Seems to be the most unlikely time of year to actually do that too. I'll certainly take more of the same from the last game.

Kane will score. But hopefully Rooney Falcao van Persie and Mata can do what they did 2 days ago.

Does Navas start for Madrid? David James said he's better than DDG
Two league games, five games in total.

Did James really say he's better than DDG? I'm willing to bet the last time he saw him play was at the World Cup.

    Magical Manchester United.
I'm not sure what Pocchettino is doing here, his bench looks much stronger than his starting XI. Really, we should beat a team consisting of Chiriches at right-back, Stambouli and Mason in CM, with Eriksen and Kane their only decent attacking options. Need to avoid setpieces though. I'll be disappointed if we can't get a win here, even though I initially thought a draw would be an OK result.

2 games within 2 days is hard but i am not a fan of that "physically not manageable" talk. Everyone who watched the Newcastle game saw that the guys weren´t pushed to their limit at all. Neither physically, nor mentally. Personally, i would have liked to see a back 4 with Rafael in (and Herrera too :( ) but that´s not possible.

Surprised to see the same team named given that LVG strongly criticised the schedule. Not complaining though, happy with that.

I guess its good to stick to the same line up for once but I still don't really like it.

Firstly, Evans has been extremely poor and should be dropped if Smalling is fit.

Secondly, yes we played quite well with this side against Newcastle but they were poor and we will get caught out in the end playing this system which feels like we don't really have any out and out midfielder. You could say Rooney and Carrick are the Midfield pair but one sits back in defence and one is more of a striker and will always push forward so at times we are playing with no midfield at all.

Yep, everyone else sorta laughed at the idea and questioned if Navas even starts for Madrid.

One manager has looked to freshen things up whilst the other has opted for consistency, although the validation of either decision might not be realised until the second half [or even during the New Year's Day match].

What a bizarre comment, are you okay?

Glastonbury can you predict the score tomorrow? I believe United will win 3-1 and it be fairly comfortable as I don't really rate Spurs this year.
I find it a difficult game to predict. But having seen the Spurs team sheet - with Chiriches instead of Walker, Townsend instead of Lamela and Stambouli instead of Dembele - I'm not confident of us winning. I'll predict a draw as most likely, with a United win as the 2nd most likely outcome.

Pochettino must think that starting again so soon again on the bounce would be too much for Walker, since he has only just returned from injury. The decision to start with Stambouli and Townsend decisions must be tactical, unless Dembele and Lamela both have minor injury niggles, so I can only hope that Poch has got it right on this one ... but I have my doubts.

Well we don't have much choice in midfield, do we? Herrera, Blind, Di Maria and Fellaini are all out while Fletcher is, well, bad.

Surprised to se the exact same team but I can never predict the teams now that LvG puts out. It's a miracle we got no more extra injuries.

I am dreading this game, not because of our team and formation (though 3-5-2 worries me still) but because this is one of those fixtures I look at and think it's going to be one where I need the ambulance on stand by.

My only concern is Spurs away being a step too much for McNair as the Southamhampton game seemed to be for him. Hopefully we can bring on Smalling if he is fit enough if McNair is finding it too much.....I think this game will end in a draw
Martin Keown was saying in commentary against Newcastle that in the 3-5-2 system it is the left and right centre back positions that most CBs dread playing, as they have to cover the full backs. McNair played in the right centre back position against Southampton and struggled badly. I think that Van Gaal is giving him the easier task today and rightly so. It is the best way to build his confidence back up if LVG really sees him as a player for the future I feel.

Seems to be consistently injured these days. Certainly not getting any value from the lad.
What? He had a hamstring injury, this is his second but it's just bad luck, he's incredible and will give us value, don't worry.

Saying he seems to be consistently injured these days makes it seem like he's Phil Jones or something.
