It seems you watched a completely different game. In the 1st half we didnt launch the ball in the air and if you saw Falcao's chance you'd see it was a Mata pass to him. not some high ball. We passed the ball in the 1st but I guess you see things differently.
Yes we did play a lot of air balls in both halfs. Why didn't we follow the same recipe that we have had success with in previous games where we retain possession and play a patient game? The players seemed stressed and nervous

Yea 9 games unbeaten, utter shite eh !
...about to be 12 points behind and have only won 2 games on the road all season and even in those 2 we were outplayed to shits. So you think we should still be talking about the tittle?

Spurs were pants. Totally killed the game. I guess you have to commend them in a way, as they were getting battered when football was being played.

Neither team were able to create in the very start/stop second half. Hate to sound bitter, but that period was utter dross by both teams. Obviously, nobody to blame but ourselves for not finishing our chances, though. Gutted Falcao, Mata, and RvP fluffed their lines. In the end, I think our lack of depth due to injury hurt us quite a bit in this match.

We haven't had a compatible '2' since Solskjaer and Van Nistelrooy imo
Falcao and RVP have barely played together, and Falcao isn't even fully fit by the looks of it. As the previous poster said, if they take their chances we would have threads discussing if they are the new Cole and Yorke and if we have the best front four in the league with rooney, mata, falcao and rvp.

Going to be interesting to see how we get Di Maria back in to the side with Rooney and Mata performing this good.

Thought we played well, tired in the second but still Mata could have won it, though he played well either way. Lloris was excellent and a point away at Spurs isn't too bad. Plus our full strength defence is back! Next game is a tough one too but I think we will win. On another day we could have beaten this lot 4-0 or 4-1. I'm sad that we didn't win only because all the teams around us bar City are playing each other. But then again it means our position won't be too affected.

We've played a game more than everyone. What results show that we're a level above the rest? The wins against Soton and Arsenal which we fluked, in all honesty. Those go down the drain when we can't even beat Villa, WBA, Leicester, Burnley, Sunderland who everyone else are beating.

And we haven't been improving every week. Not sure what you mean by that but people see what they wanna see.
You're damn right people see what they want to see. Not sure if you're against Van gaal or something, but it's very obvious we've been improving every week. What results have shown we've been improving? How about having title challenging form since the transfer window shut? 23 points from the last possible 27? That's while having injury problems that would cripple anyone.

Also, remember a few years ago when we had that awful away record in the first half of the season but kept getting results at home? And got within a point of winning the title? You don't need to be consistent away from home to get top 4. You say we fluked those wins, but then you can also say the other teams flukes a point against us as well. The results and points on the table are the most important thing, and against the teams around us, we lost away to city (as we usually do even with fergie), drew with chelsea and Spurs, won away to arsenal, southampton and beat everton and liverpool at home. No reason at all to be negative, a point away to Spurs isnt a bad result really. We should have won, but it wasn't because we played poorly that we didn't. Just didn't have the luck.

What I miss this season is that there is no intensity where it should be. Little things, like taking forever to take a throw in every single time we get one, taking small risks in passing a forward pass late in the game rather than the safe back pass. We just seem to be a club that settles for letting the game run it's course sticking to the usual plan rather than throwing a little caution to the wind and go for the winner.
The throw ins annoy the he'll out of me. Too many times we pass to De Gea or knock it aimlessly long.

It because we really only play with Carrick in midfield. Rooney pushes on too early when our back 3 have the ball so they've no options.

You seriously think we played the same kind of football in the first half this game as we did in say last game against Newcastle? What's the possession stat in the first half today? We definitely didn't have 65-70%

Once again it does show, the unbalance of the attack cost us again, something does not click away from home.

I think rooney was fine for about 60 mins then yes he started releasing early trying to get forward. It's is nature. Plus he and falcoa was getting hack on the knees all game with only 2 our 3 fouls called. I'm surprised that he didn't kick someone

I thought they were fairly patient. Only on the last 20 minutes did they not retain the ball well. The biggest issue for me was the lack of finishing in the 6-yard box. The chances were there.

We lack pace and direct running. We pass backwards too often. We have no physical presence. We are to slow in everything we do....And Falcao looks like he is running through treacle.Evans was his usual self and Carrick had a day off.

Wait an hour n half and I don't even need to explain it.

So we should still be talking about the tittle according to you?
You've not addressed the coming fixtures have you, you've also not allowed for a January cold snap with a transfer window.
Anything can happen, we are only half way through.
You've no idea what will happen in an hour and a half, nor after New Year's Day so yes, we are still in it.

I can live with a point, regarding the circumstance (fatigue) the only downside is we should have bury atleast two in that first half rout but we didn't, sunderland please.

My biggest concern personally is the lack of fight we show towards the ends of games, was the same at villa for 20 minutes against 10 men and here in the last 20 minutes we showed absolutely no fighting spirit or desire to go on and get anything more than just a point which is EXTREMELY worrying.

Considering how poor Spurs were, we thew away 2 points.. Our strategy of hoofing the ball to forwards is not working. and its not like we dont have the players to play the quick passing game..

Definitely, but the players couldn't keep their heads cool. They kept fighting like savage dogs but lacked the composure when it mattered. Some of the older players should've calmed the team down and actually tried to establish proper build-up play.

feck the title, getting a point from that match as poorly as they played in the second half was a just result. It's one fecking match and if you want Utd to challenge for the title you'd better hope they get Blind, Rojo et al back.

I am now worried about what changes he can make to buck the side up against Stoke? Stoke will give us a rough ride.
Ya. Stoke game will be almost same lineup.. No players available for rotation. These words sound very bad for a club like us.

Still dont know what's going on in training. I thought Rojo got small niggle and will be up for next game and now he is out for one month. C'mon WTF!!! Di Maria got something like penis pain and out for... I dont know. Fellaini, Herrara and Januzaj...WTF illiness is keeping them away for 3 weeks.

180min game time in 42hrs is not for players like RVP, falcao(finding fitnesss). Rooney and Mata slept somewhere in Second half..

That is a rawk level of optimism you have right there my friend.I don't share the same views because evidence so far has shown otherwise, we are just no were near good enough away from home.

I am blazing it is yet another early kickoff. If it is the same team, then you worry it might be one game too far for some and we end up with more strain injuries.

Honestly, some of you seem to think Utd is made up of all 21 year old kids in perfect health that have not played a match in a week.

    RVP is 31
Falcao is 29 and coming off of injury.
    Rooney 29
    Carrick 33
    Young 29
    Valencia 29
    Aj out til mid January.
    di Maria out
    Fellaini out
    Herrera out
    Rojo out
    Blind out
    Shaw just returning from injury
    Rafael just returning from injury.

Second match in 48 hours, all of these injuries...why, a 4-0 Utd win would have been a just result.

That is all well and good but 2 wins away from home is just not good enough, and certainly not good enough for a top 4 team.
Really? we won the PL with very few away wins a few years ago, if united keep up their home form they will make a top 4 easy

It actually may prove to be good enough for us to sr ire a top four finish.

We can't ignore the injury crisis, as much as we would like to.

    No Angel.
    No Ander.
    No Marouane.
    No Daley.
    No Adnan.

Thus, we're forced to play Wayne in midfield, which is not the best use of his talent. And thus, we're forced to play Radamel and Robin together, a partnershipwhich hasn't looked that impressive so far and probably rarely will.

Spurs have also been in great form recently. We should have won this game but a poor finish by Juan cost us the three points we deserved, but we're still well on track to land third or fourth place, which is all that matters right now.

Chelsea are currently 1-0 down away from home, a position they will fear.
Put this Chelsea in a position where a draw is not good enough and see how quickly things can change.
We should not be remotely close to winning the league title when you asses out broken confidence, injury record and learning a whole new system on which the game is based, but.
We are 9 points back and the performances are starting to come, first half today was fantastic from us, as was the 90 against Hull and more recently Newcastle.
People should get their heads out of their arses and start watching the football on the pitch, rather than just following the media viewpoints.

We could have got all three points after our excellent first half .we tired in the second half and VG made a few

changes to shore up the defence . Rafael needs to get a few games under his belt as he looked very rusty .

Lots of positives and we will finish in the top four .

Most of us have said it is the injuries and lack of options on the bench that have done for us today and the problem might still be there on New Years Day, We need the injured players back and quick, even if they are just on the bench.

    Looking for Eric
Thought we played some excellent football in the first half and the guy that went over the top should have been given a straight red. If only we had taken a couple of those chances.

Roo is such a perfect 10 it pains me to see him so consistently played out if position for the good of the club, going back to the late Ronaldo years. Had he been in the position Mata was in for the second half chance I have no doubt he Doyle have scored and thus the trey bagged.

But he's such a fantastic footballer any manager would do exactly the same thing Louis, David and Sir Alex did, which is to plug a hole in the squad for the good of the club.

We gotta get our midfielders back soon. We have no chance of lifting the trophy this season but we're nailed on for fourth at worst, but a full squad with Roo at the 10 could make things very interesting by April, when we face Chelsea (down 1-0 right now) and City again.
