From yesterday's embargoed press conference Ten Hag made it clear that United's problems against Wolves are easily solved. It was all about poor execution and losing possession in Wolves half which led to them countering. I expect to see us keeping the ball much better today.

My major concern is the massive Greenwood shitshow enveloping the club. United are rightfully getting hammered by politicians, charities and celebrities for their stance. Couple that with the Antony situation and things could go badly on the pitch if we make a poor start.
Stop playing Rashford as no. 9 will be a great start to solve the problems.

It clicked at game week 3 last season. We didn’t forget how to play football, it’s simple adaption. If we aren’t better today v Spurs and a lot better v Forest then I’d really be shocked
We should be battering forest though to be fair. We need top performances against better sides.

I'd like ETH try Mount in Fred's position, reading comments on Mount's thread seem many quite dont find him quality player at all but surely hes better than Fred?
I’d say Mount has more quality but Fred offered better defensive qualities which is why we played better football with him and Casemiro together.

I know it’s only the second game of the season, but for some reason this feels like a really important game for us, especially after a shoddy performance against Wolves. I feel like it will help shape my expectations from the season ahead and the kind of character we have as a team.

Curious to see if ETH mixes things up, and if he can get a positive reaction from the group.

Conceded 7 against Liverpool.. 6 against City..
    Still cant pass the ball.

Let's see if we actually play any football today or just try to hit them on the counter..

Gonna have to start better that, starting today.

    Let's fecking GO!
Honestly, 75 points in spite of that is stupidly impressive.
What that? 14 odd dropped points in every other game?

Bruno up front please. Mount in the 10. Casemiro and McTominay in midfield.

Monster defense (or Goals Against...) and home record. I'd be very happy to see those two trends confirmed this year but that was maybe an outlier. Definitely need to get more points away and score more.

Not confident. Think the Greenwood thing has become a massive distraction.

Brentford cut through Tottenham fairly easily last week. If we get given the same sort of space I can certainly see us scoring 2 or 3. This will suit Mount's late runs into the box. Can see him scoring today

    AWB - Varane - Martinez - Shaw
    Casemiro
    Bruno - Mount
    Antony - Rashford - Sancho

    I'm feeling a loss today. 2-1 Spurs.

When has that ever worked well for us?
That's how bad the options are...

Also, I think Mount in behind might make it work a little better.

I'd rather him in a 9 or false 9 than on the right anyway.

A poor 60 min from Nacho (when everyone was poor) and everyone wants Sancho back in, despite him having a poor 2 years.

Why not just play Sancho in the 9 then? Bruno and Mount have to learn to play with each other whether we like it or not.

That rare occasion when I want you to win. Injury time victory with a dodgy penalty for bruno please.

Because Sancho is awful. We may as well play with 10 men.

We went 2-0 up last year at Spurs very easily but second half we were really poor, think they were on a bad run and temp manager yet we couldn't see them off. Apparently Spurs at half time got really angry and pumped themselves up.

Most people, including myself, want to see Sancho as a false 9 where he put in some good displays, albeit pre season. It also means Rashford can play in his favoured position on the left.

Just wanna see hints at some nice football and more of a midfield. Didn’t even have a spell of dominance on Monday. Was just one moment of good play for the goal. Not good enough.

They have been poor for years, new manager, lost their star player, haven't replaced him adequately yet. We should be favourites for this match, and take the game to them.

I expect sadly, for that not to be translated to the pitch at all.

We know Spurs will have most of the possession - that's how Postecoglou wants them to play.

Against Brentford, they focused most of their attacks through the middle and we obviously looked very vulnerable to that on Monday night. We'll need our front three pressing their CBs to prevent easy balls into midfield, something that they didn't do at all against Wolves.

Spurs looked vulnerable to attacks through the middle too against Brentford, so that is where we'll probably look to focus our counterattacks.

I think it's not a bad time to play them. The manager won't have had time to properly instill his ideas yet and they have just lost Kane. I fancy a score draw.

    He really isn’t that bad.
Certainly not when comparing with our other options. Garnacho and Antony wouldn’t have produced less on monday if they played with their eyes closed

Till now Nacho has shown that he's best at entering late in the game.
He's got to do better when he starts

I agree, but he's literally wasted one chance. How many has sancho wasted?

Negative nancy's way too early into a season where several of our incomings have barely played a competitive match yet, or at all. Especially when in the first game the fitness level was to me the most shocking thing, which naturally can only be expected to improve. Ironically though Kane leaving makes this a bigger question mark bc that seemed to be the only top player we d have in our pocket every time we played them. All I want to see is match rhythm progression today/less lethargic effort.

Well people with Chelsea connections seem to enjoy playing in that stadium, however knowing our luck Mount is gonna buck that trend today

Squawka usually posts good stats about United. But since they smell ABUs coming out this week, they join in the fun.

I wouldn’t say most people. I don’t like false 9 at all. It’s better when you have two wide strikers with a strong goal threat. We have one, which is a start. I could see it happening today as I think Garnacho needs to come out and our options are limited.

Really can't call how this one will go. We could have our shit together and smash them, alternatively they could just run through us and score quite a few.

    So 0-0 it is then.
