Whichever line-up he goes with, I am not looking forward to this match.
Oh I am. Because I do believe that the players will make a very positive improvement in attitude and committment. They, or some of them have obviously be pushing for a change. And now they have got it, have a chance to show their real abilities.

    Telles
    Bailly
Lindelof (obviously replace one of the CBs with Varane if he's fit)
    AWB

    Donny
    Matic
    Fred

    Rashford
    Ronaldo
    Mason

Maguire, & Shaw should be no way near the first team considering their recent form. DdG has been good, but he's still too passive and reactive in the box for me, hence Henderson. Not sure Fred can do the holding role, but we don't have anyone else. Bruno dropped as well considering his form has been erratic as well and Donny had a good cameo the other day.

I would move Fernandes further up the pitch, and have him and Sancho feeding balls into Ronaldo. Doing this can help solidify the midfield as well.

Can see him going with Fred and DVB behind Bruno.

We all know what Villareal are going to do.

Same thing they've done every time they've played Utd. Sit in, defend deep, look for the breaks on the counter.

Think we'll see that some of these players will play with a bit more zip, almost guaranteed. They'll want to be seen to be playing well before the new man comes in.

Villareal will take heart after watching Watford hammer us on Saturday. Watching Maguire in the presser was cringeworthy. Same old ‘We take full responsibility’! Really? What a joke. He was emotionless, not even upset. Taking responsibility means sorting the issues out not just fecking talking about it. Arses need kicking.

Villarreal are in woeful form as well and they don’t win games.
Seems every team who are out of form suddenly pick up form when playing us, Leicester Southampton Villa Watford to name a few just this season.

Draw tomorrow, beat Young Boys (hopefully under Poch) and win the group. If we lose, it’s an almost insurmountable GD to Villarreal, so if Atalanta beat them in the last game, we’re out. In December. Again.

I think there’s no doubt this is the biggest game of our season to date, and the club has been turned upside down. Come on Carrick, all I ask for is a draw. Even one scammier than the Atalanta one will do.

I’m going for a nervy 1-1. Ronaldo to score because he’s been back to his best in terms of CL football this season.

They are coached what to say and probablt told not to deviate. Thats why its the same old shit every presser.

Villareal to win. No change with the football as the same team minus Ole at the helm. No new manager bounce as there is no new manager. The score? Anything from 1-0 to 5-0 and anything inbetween.

I dont really care who starts this game. I only know who I DONT want to start.

Maguire - should not even travel to Spain. Shithousery level all season and STILL starting. Any competent manager with some balls and common sense would bench him.

Bruno -he looks tired and unmotivated. Clearly out of form. Two weeks holiday would be good for him.

Shaw - A shadow from last season. Give him a break. Shit this season.

Mctominay - What is he good at now again? Because i still dont know and he’s started like what? 100 games? If he’s supposed to be our new Carrick I will laugh to cry.

Im sick and tired of watching these players two times a week for the last 16 weeks. Putting in a half arsed ”performance” and still not getting dropped. Is that the new level for this club? And what message is that sending to the other players?

Really nervous about this game. Oles sacking and subsequent search for a new manager seems to have taken some of the limelight off this game, but if we lose this we're out! I have no idea how we will line up or even whether we are capable of getting anything!

Wishful thinking. Did you see the presser with Maguire sitting next to Carrick looking every bit his right hand man? You could put all your money on Maguire starting tomorrow & have no worries whatsoever about losing your money.

So, what would people on here think if when you see the team sheet tomorrow and Donny isn't starting?

Nothing will change under Carrick, so I suppose the best we can hope for is a draw & then beat YB on MD6.

I think we’ll pack the midfield and try to feed Ronaldo.

    ………………. DDG
    AWB Lindelöf Maguire Telles
    ……….. McT Fred DVB
    ………….…… Bruno
    ……… Ronaldo Rashford

You are picking DDG? Didn't you just make about 10 posts saying how rubbish DDG is?

Carricks presser didn't fill me with confidence, this comment especially.

Looks like nothing will change, not that I expected it to. Carrick was a great player for us, but is part of the problem with his coaching and he needed to go along with Phelan and McKenna. It's Ole in all but name. I expect us to get beaten tomorrow. Question is how much damage limitation will we do?

This is my prediction for what Carrick will pick tomorrow, not me roleplaying as a surprise interim manager. Yes, I unfortunately think De Gea will continue to be picked under Carrick.

I realise now that Shaw is out, so Telles will play.

I think the players know how important this game is for them and will get the result we need. I have no clue how similar or different Carrick is to Ole but I think he'll go with this-

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    VdB Fred Bruno
    Sancho Ronaldo Rashford

Keep VdB and Sancho on the same side so that Sancho can deliver the crosses over Villarreal's defense onto Ronaldo. Bruno needs to play a bit behind than usual and do the same for Rashford/Ronaldo to run into.

I think he'll make changes just to showcase his own credentials. If he makes adjustments and we play okay he gets the praise, we play the same team no one will care.
