I must admit I'm not mad on the idea of our players going onto the football pitch not knowing who is going to take the penalties if they are awarded, if it's true. It is a recipe for unnecessary confusion and mental distraction if you're going to have a debate about it moments before someone steps up to take it.

The Wolves goalkeeper is a very good at saving them though, and there's every chance he might have saved Rashford's attempt too. I've seen far worse penalties end up in the back of the net. Pogba was unlucky.
    Exactly.
Listening to a Gary Lineker podcast, he obviously not only knew without doubt that he was the pen taker, but he decided what he was going to do if he got a pen a WEEK before, and practiced it repeatedly!

It has to add to the pressure just casually deciding both on actually taking it, and what you're doing with it at that moment!

Jesus Christ. Are you another top red or something?
by "Top Red" do you mean "have a low tolerance for overly negative people that continuously shit all over the team, even when they are playing well"? if so then yeah, that's me.

We have 70% possession, more shots, more shots on goal and are a goal up in that first half and your post is

"after watching _____ vs ___ we are shit"

Nope, we were actually really good in the first half. It was great to watch. a lot of fun.

Whoever earns it takes it?! Not a hard concept is it ffs. The press piss me off.
Do what? Like at school with farts, whoever smelt it dealt it?

Whoever earns it takes it?! When has any club ever done that?! That's ridiculous.
You have a set pen taker. End of story.

Rashford said after the Chelsea game:
    'I wouldn’t say I’m the penalty-taker.

There’s four or five players that are 100% comfortable being in that situation.

For the keepers it’s more difficult, they don’t know who’s going to take it."
Or in reality, much easier, as the keeper faces someone who had no idea they were taking it until that moment!

I think he just wants to be on pens because he’s the main man. It’s like when Rooney used to take them despite proving to be pretty inept.
You say that with Rooney, but I can't remember him missing a pen when we were either drawing or losing.
He tended to miss when we were leading.

I’m not saying I agreed with it but clearly that’s what happened.

The fact Neville is trying to Suggest pogba stole it off him and called him a disgrace is ridiculous.

No wonder pogba wants to leave when he hears bullshit like this. A club legend against him.
It is complete bull and agenda from Neville. He literally went into a rant vs him as soon as the TV cut back to him. It's actually quite sly the way he's worded it.

Could be. I just remember never being confident with him taking one.

    clearly was 2 points dropped.

But I hope our fans don't get on top of the players we feel should have stepped up.

    Lots of games to play.
Yeah, lot's of positive to take from the game. A point away at Wolves isn't the end of the world, plenty of other teams will fare worse.

Pogbas taken the last 5 and Rashford had 1. So isn’t pogba the designated? it’s just a pathetic agenda.

Good result and a good performance against a good team.

Pogba should be thankful Ferguson's not in charge.

I've personally no problem with Pogba. I think he's our best player to almost ridiculous level.

But after Rashford scored the last one, I'd have kept him on, simple as that.

    1. Neville is an agenda driven prick.

    2. Work rate so much better.

    3. Defends so much better.

    4. We have a platform now to build on.

    5. Shame we didn't go that bit further in the summer and buy two more players.

    6. You'd take 4 points from those first two games.

Fergie would have set a penalty taker. He wouldn't allow this casual let the lads decide at the time nonsense.

I’m not disagreeing either, Rashford is stastically better - what I have the issue is they’re making a big deal saying pogba STOLE IT.

It’s quite clearly not a big deal and the press are trying their hardest to make it one. Why are they so desperate to put more pressure and Hate on him? crazy.

You didn't hear about the huge conspiracy fake out? He was't really giving the 17 year old a chance by him being the only striker on the bench and throwing him on late..
he just wanted to make it look like he did...

I've read some stupid stuff on this board but that one takes the cake.
Grow up would you. Why make a sub if you don’t intend for it to change anything. There is a reason Ole is manager because he knows more than you

Yeah that's silly, it looked like Rashford comfortably gave it to him, and Rashford said after the last game that we split it between players.

Us fans are just disappointed we could have easily won that, been top of the league, and have some quality games to look forward to racking points up.

Agree with all points. Hopefully we'll buy a midfield controller in the next phase of the rebuild. Or Gómes steps up.

I'm sure Ole will not switch the penalty taker to someone else and he should not though I felt otherwise earlier.

    Just disappointed is all.

We totally dominated and they pulled one back. We still could have won it.

Just the rub of the green.

We are going to win a lot of football matches lads.

    We kick on.

Agree a set rule that Rashford takes the penalties and end of this shit on the pitch deciding who should take it. If it is decided by the players then we will certainly experience an argument at some stage and it will be embarrassing. I would certainly have Rashford above Pogba as penalty taker.

    Without doubt.

Rashford to take them, until he misses at least one! Then re-think it.

Yeah there has to be a protocol. The embarrassment of an on-pitch squabble is no big thing, but surely some clarity would help everyone.

Yep it feels like a loss but let’s be real a draw at wolves is a good point.

I was praying pogba would score that as I knew the shitstorm it would create. Unreal that people can hate 1 player so much. When other teams miss not a word is said.

I was confident, until the little "Pen map" came up, and there was one miss in the last 5 or so.

That and when the shot moved from dead centre behind, where it looks impossible to miss, to that side on at an angle where it looks very tough to score :houllier:

Typically he didn’t do his slow run up this time  man.. frustrating but it happens. Then Neville the pillock blows his load ranting about it. Pisses me off.

Well we now know that other managers are going to take note of the second half.

Shaw was killed by Adama... he is the weak link in our defence no doubt about that.

Teams will likely target their attacks down their right side as clearly that’s what caused us so many issues in the second half.

Otherwise, disappointed not to get all 3 points but have to look on the bright side and say our first half performance was excellent.

Wolves are a tough side at home. I felt we were slightly the better team and had Pogba converted the spot kick and we won, most people would be talking about us as serious title contenders. That’s how reactive football fans can be. Early days still. Personally I’m happy with the team under the circumstances.

Bit unlucky really. And Wolves scores a worldy to equalise. A lot of teams will lose at Wolves. Hopefully City And Liverpool won’t have it all their own way here. Lots of coulda woulda shouldas. I do feel better about this season though. If James develops an end product he could be some player.
