The only one of the newer X-Men films I really really liked was First Class.

I think this new one will be a bad film but I'll still watch it (not going to bother with the cinema though) as I still generally enjoy bad comic book films.

For the record I enjoy the Daredevil film. I have honestly re-watched it multiple times.
I thought days of future past was the best. It’s your second paragraph that’s really the issue for me to decide, if it’s worth me watching it in the cinema or not. I appreciate the feedback mate.

Dofp was one of my favs too. (Logan is just above the rest but not really an X-Men movie)

I'm gonna watch this anyway but even people who are generally whatever about movies thought this was as bad as X-Men 3, damn

I don't think it's as bad, it's just boring (which could obvioulsy mean it's worse than Last Stand), which it shouldn't be, given the source material and the cast involved. Kinda reminded me of GoT's final season, in terms of; we can't be arsed, and also Marvel is going to take over anyway. Xavier finally feels like the proper arsehole he's supposed to be and Cyclops isn't as useless as he has been in previous movies.

Yeah it felt like a rush job with regards to marketing and all too.
Its a shame as I thought X3 was trash and felt so different to the first 2 and I was excited when this was announced (seeing her potential power in apocalypse)

I'll still watch but just hope I'm entertained

Of course, it bombed at the box office. Hope Disney reboots this , because the MCU deserves a strong X Men and Fantastic Four.

They should leave the X-Men alone for a good few years.

I'd love to see a decent Fantastic Four but how much of a box office draw would that be? They'd need to get the casting spot on. Any chance they can squeeze them into a post-Iron Man/Steve Rogers MCU now that they messed around with all the Multi-verses? Maybe in the next Guardians film they end up meeting them.

Days of future past and first class were amazing. A pity they couldn’t retain that quality. Magnetic and Xavier were perfectly casted. Both underrated actors.

Fassbender and McAvoy? You think they’re underrated? I always thought, or I guess perceived them both to be very highly rated actors?

The feedback on Dark Phoenix probably means I won’t be watching it in the cine. I haven’t even been to see Wick 3 yet. So probably no chance I’ll be catching this until it’s on dvd.

Agree with that , come back to X Men another time . But with Fantastic Four ,if they get the cast and for me The Thing right and drop Doctor Doom and not focus so much on the origins , i think they could do well. Look at Aquaman .

Just do what they did with Spiderman. Everyone knows the origins, just drop them in and get going. Disagree on Doom, although I wouldn't make him the main bad guy, just have him in the background to start. Xmen need to go away for at least 3 or 4 years.

i had low expectations for this but it was still horrible!

crap lead actress, crap XFiles aliens, no Wolverine and Captain Marvel deja vu (and that was pretty shite as well)

Should have ended this cycle with Logan

It's a shame the previous F4 movies made such a colossal mess of Doctor Doom.

Yeah .There was talk of Fox doing a Doctor Doom solo origin movie ,but that seems to be put on hold.Maybe for the better.
Gosh, Fox would butcher it imo.
I wanna see Marvel bring in Silver Surfer. The Silver Surfer trailer is still one of my favs even if the movie was a letdown.

Just watched it, and I genuinely thought it was alright :nervous:

Deffo better than the X3 version. Deffo better than apocalypse.

It's on my list of movies to watch.

I actually thought Apocalypse was a decent film. Growing up with the X-Men cartoon, he was my favourite villain, so that might have had something to do with it.

Phoenix was the was worst character on that show, so I'm not expecting the same nostaligic goodwill.

Watched it last night . And can understand why it flopped. Sophie Turner is a terribly wooden actress, and the rest of the cast were dragged down to her level.Plot line was thin and the enemies forgettable, and the less said about the not so subtle feminist talking points the better. Hopefully they will put this to rest for a few years before rebooting and giving us the X Men (and Women) that they deserve.

Really not as bad as they said imo. Expected something abysmal.

Turner isn't very good, but she didn't bother me that much either. Most of the others did what they always do though some were phoning it in a tad.

Only really big problem for me were the antagonists. So uninspired, so unoriginal, so unimaginative for a series that is so rich and creative. If they had fixed that, that train scene could have been epic.

Out of the twelve X-men related movies it is definitely way down there with Apocalypse, Origins and Last Stand but not considerably worse.

I rewatched the last stand and this version makes no sense, why did the story change?

I watched it on Monday night.

Pointless and totally forgettable movie. I was struggling to pay attention.

From what i read black Phoenix is like thanos, it's the xmen penultimate stories with many backstories. Cant be wrapped in 2 hours movie but they tried.

It's shit to be honest, feels like some episode of tv series more than a grand finale
Sort of. You can't properly do it justice without going into space and introducing the shi'ar imo.

This, with out all the extras that should have gone in to the story the power of The Dark Phoenix kinda gets lost in it all. Think they would have been better to build that as Thanos was built and split the Phoenix saga ie space stuff in to a couple of movies. 2nd attempt to do Phoenix justice and bit of a miss again.

Haven't seen it yet. But as indicated in another thread I have a great dislike for Sophie Turner. So, I'll watch it just bc I feel like I need to...but I'll be drinking heavily while doing so.

Famke Jansen was pretty good imho.. Even though it never got to showing how powerful she really was once she changed. The way she killed Dr. X was pretty epic.

Watched this film earlier. It's not even that bad, another one where the hyperbolic reviews lead me to believe it would be a waste of time. Turns out it wasn't....

Not a great dark phoenix adaption so I can understand people upset over that, but mildly entertaining and the action at the end was pretty good. Do not know what all the 1 and 2 star reviews on IMDb are about, I read a few that turned out to be nonsense/waffle and rants about "liberal Hollywood" (feck is up with that?) and decided to ignore the rest...

Agree with this. A decent movie with a good action scene for the last 30 mins.

My issue with it is that it was no where near the quality of first class and DOFP. Those two had some great political themes which XMen is all about. The main theme of this was Jean Gray’s emotional pain.

Those two got a bit more of what X-Men is truly about. Mutant segregation.

Agree with this also. Thought first class was great.
