I'm not sure how Emery chose to spend 72m pounds to sign Pepe when he already had Ozil, Laca & Auba. Very good attacking options there, if there is something they need to fix is the defense & midfield.

Not an Arsenal fan, but I can kind of see what they're trying to do. More or less the best performing players starting and the formation adapting to that. Pepe has been a disappointment. They've been bad defensively and dropped points against so called inferior teams at home as well, so perhaps Emery is trying to change the formation to make them more solid defensively, which they need.
Pepe has been very poor, I thought the line up looks good, not sure what Arsenal fans think. A bit defensive but playing 3 at the back might be something Emery wants to switch to improve his defense.
Im not an Arsenal fan but Luiz makes it a back 2.5 to be fair.
Arsenal's personell seems to scream for a 4-2-3-1. Don't know why Emery doesn't give that a try, particularly at home to Southampton.

Southampton lost a game 9-0 recently, playing 5 defenders against them at home seems like a coward move.

They've struggled in defense and midfield and the world class attack has been starving of service. Maybe this is Emery trying to change that.

That was one of the worst performances a so called top club can put and I have seen some very bad performances by Manchester United under moyes ole jose and van gaal but this was on another level.

What manager can get the best out of average defense & midfield? You got to question the manager why did he even waste most of his budget on attacker Pepe instead of on their midfield & defense?

Exactly my thoughts! They’ve got a very solid attack with some very talented youngsters as back up! That 70 odd million could have bought them a great centre back! The spine of Arsenals team is bloody woeful
