Would not be the least surprised if he left at the end of the season.

He’s naive to think Levy will give him an open chequebook
Jose hasn't mentioned anyone coming in. Every interview I've seen of his he talks about improving what he already has.

When LvG had no strikers due to injury he looked to the academy and called up a player that only had two under-21 starts at the time.

That player is now one of the best English players around and United’s #10
I have been arguing for years that had it been another manager Rashford wouldn't have turned up on the line up that day. The catalyst was injuries but it still takes a certain manager to trust an academy kid like that.

He’s miles away from the manager he was, not even close. This is why I still think we haven’t signed a top drawer manager since SAF stepped down, for all the talk of us needing to try something different because himself and LVG failed.
Agreed. He's not the same Jose as in 2010 inter for instance. The players aren't the same either. His methods of motivation do not work anymore.

Jose won't leave, he will wait til he gets sacked and get some money in. He will then be a pundit for some time until the next job arrives.

The injuries might buy him time unless he walks.
I'm certain Levy appointed him on the premise of Mourinho delivering CL football this season.

There is no way Spurs will spend big money if they are not in the CL and they might lose some of their better players as well. I'm sure Son would love to join a club like Bayern and Ndombele also doesn't seem the Mourinho type of player - the latter already was giving out sly digs in the press about the fitness of the Frenchman.

I get the feeling things aren’t quite going to plan :wenger: But this is what happens if you spend next to nowt for god knows how long.

Spurs are in trouble, top 6 looks unlikely but I wouldn’t quite write Jose off just yet, he’s too wiley. It’s cheque book time Mr Levy, buy players or pay Mourinho off.

As for those who think he’ll just walk away

I’m the same way! I loved his Inter teams and Chelsea teams. I also thought that his Porto triumph is the greatest footballing achievement that I have seen in my lifetime. It’s Football Manager stuff.

The book goes some way to explain how he lost his confidence and became more negative. He was complicit but the big characters in the Real dressing room destroyed him and ripped him of his dignity.
Which book was it?

Jose walk!! Zero chance of that even happening. he goes through the stage at every club of him being so obnoxious, so argumentative that he’s literally asking to be fired - he’s probably made close to £100m from getting sacked.

he will get a £15-20m payout from spurs when they inevitably sack him.

Amongst footballing managerial 'Gods'

The guy is a train wreck.
Soo, Mourinho must be believe Pochettino is the greatest manager on earth because this has what Pochettino has had to deal with at Spurs. Yet, Pochettino smashes objectives over there.

Mourinho is a spoiled brat. What he is saying is true, but Mourinho needs to understand that he is managing Spurs and not a big club.

He says getting fourth with Spurs will be his biggest accomplishment. Pochettino has done that even without Kane and Son our for a long time. So Pochettino must have already surpass Mourinho greatest accomplishments:lol:

How is it that almost every post you make you manage to include Pochettino in there ? whatever the thread talk about, even if it has nothing to do with Pochettino.

Is it fair to say that Tottenham is the most historically unsuccessful club that Mourinho has been at or were Chelsea in a similar position when he went there after Porto?

If he wins them a trophy or two, will they care? Given how long it has been since Spurs have won anything.

Jobs are running thin. Lyon was his best offer till Spurs sacked Poch going by summer reports

I'm sure things will settle for him a bit more eventually, the squad is screwed with injuries at the moment and joining a team midseason is never the best, but yeah I wouldn't be shocked if this is his shortest stint at a club. Its always looked like a bizarre matchup him and Spurs really.

If he gets sacked at Spurs, he'll come out saying the club didn't match his ambitions of winning the champions league, then 2 months later he'll take over at Trabzonspor.

When he gets sacked by Spurs, his next job will be at an ambitious, statement-making club, something akin to Everton appointing Ancellotti. (Some club like Newcastle if they get taken over and have cash to splurge.)

I really think that the media have built this Spurs squad into something they are not. If I had to choose tomorrow if I would swap the current United squad for this Spurs team, I wouldn’t.

If you take out Son and Kane, it is painfully average. Terrible full back options, aging centre backs, Sissoko/Winks is as average a pivot as they come. Eriksen wants out and has been awful for a year now. And Alli and Moura blow hot and cold and can’t be relied upon to perform consistently.

United have their own squad issues, but also have a number of young players on the rise with potential to improve, and some players which were written off, like Fred, are slowly proving themselves.

I would have de Gea, AWB, Maguire, Williams (Rose is awful), Fred, McTominey, Rashford and Martial into that Spurs team tbh.

Pochettino was the key to their elevation and Levy forgot that along the way and will pay a heavy price now.

Their error was not refreshing the squad gradually along the way. Jose is in trouble
Can’t agree more. Our players are performing below their potential for a start. Then you have maguire, shaw, Williams and AWB who I would choose over most of their defenders; aldewereild being the only one who might get in there. Winks is an outstanding deep lying playmaker who was pivotal last season and doesn’t lose the ball but then we have Fernandes, Fred mc tominay and Pogba who when fit take some beating. Finally re a front three fine, Kane, Son and Moura are right up there but Rashford is arguably first on any team sheet (when fit this season) and Martial for all his critics has remained and at worst is as good as Moura or Son in his own way and remains on the pitch. Not to mention do Spurs have a greenwood?
We haven’t even mentioned Bailly Lindelof, James Matic (in form) or Mata. Deli Alli is now reduced to half the player and Eriksen! Eriksen - spurs best player is gone at cut price. Why ? jose

I knew Mourinho was a twat but I think this might be a record even for him - causing a stink like this 3 months into the job. Quite funny after all the talk of a new, revitalised Mourinho after a year out of the game.

This is what makes it all the more remarkable. My analysis is that, after reflection he has realised that he doesn’t actually grasp the need or ingredients required for modern / possession based /artistic football - which you could argue Pochettino had managed to instill at Spurs as a club, but felt that he could come in and continue that philosophy while tweaking it to a more winning mentality.
However - have his own insecurities or more to the point stubborn bad habits been transformed as a result of a short time out ? For a start - any manager worth his salt had to improve what players he already has already. More to the point he always seems to chat more than he should ...(he always says too much) ...always over elaborating in his analysis...

Accuse one of your own players of not having the bottle to play through an injury - check
Refuse to play a youth team player in a position you have everyone else out injured for - check
tumescent unwatchable dross on the pitch - check
Relentlessly negative about prospects for the rest of the season - check

and he’s managed all of this in just a few months. The Mourinho cycle of doom is speeding up!!
Just need a dig about lack of transfers and a big falling out with a star player and he’ll have the full set. Kane and son are out so it’ll probably be Alli who he publicly slaughters for no discernible reason.

I’m just happy this is now happening to someone else........

Big mistake if he stays at Spurs for next season, he simply doesn't want to change and comes always with the same excuses for crap performances. He better return to Sky Sports or Bein because he is getting worse everytime he returns. Terrible really.

Does anyone still think it was a mistake to fire him? He is well and truly miserable.
